Just returned from overseas trip with our underseat bags and they are great. Very easy packing with the two self contained sections, easy wheeling and very strong. They stood up to air and coach travel and the size is easy to handle.

This is a great bag. The construction is excellent and the fabric is beautiful. But, if you are looking for an underseat carryon, look elsewhere. I specifically bought this so I could have my carryon under the seat in front of me. I hate battling for overhead bin space, and I'm short, so sometimes I have to get help to reach the overhead. I spent two weeks in Europe and was on six planes during that time. The bag didn't fit under the seat in front of me on any of the flights, and I was flying business. If you want a great weekend bag, this is it, unless your plans include airplanes.

I travel a lot for my business and I have been looking for a carry-on that can consolidate my laptop bag and my over night suitcase. Most bags are either briefcases with very little room for clothes or suitcases that are impractical as briefcases. This bag is exactly what I have been searching for with regards to simple consolidated travel friendly option. For trips that only involve a couple of days and small aircraft where gate check is usually required, this bag is perfect for not having to gate check (problematic when you have a tight connection) and you don't want to have two carry-ons. I would highly recommend this to any executive who wants to keep it simple.

I just received the new bag yesterday and cannot wait to use it on a trip. It was designed by a real traveler. There are so many compartments and sleeves that it took me a few minutes to find them all. The laptop sleeve is a small briefcase with a zipper and carrying handles. My 15.6 inch laptop fits perfectly. There is plemty of room for a day's worth of clothing and travel essentials in the bottom compartments. The upperc ompartments have plently of room for my eyeglasses, documents and other things. The construction and materials are first rate and solid. The zipper pulls are sustantial diecast metal with leather tips. The LL Bean logo on the case and the zipper pulls makes it look distinctive. The pull handle telecopes out to a convenient height. The wheels are solid and roll easily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JamieLeigh Perfect carry-on for business travel
I've used this as a carry on bag a dozen times over the last 5 months - it is an excellent piece of luggage - looks sharp and matches my other larger luggage. On several occasions I've been able to keep my carry-on baggage even when the overhead compartments are full since this fits under the seat - a huge bonus. The clam shell design helps keep my clothing organized - I use the laptop bag as a toiletry and personal bag - using the divided mesh pockets for socks, tights, gloves, etc. - easy to hang in a hotel room. The waterproof front pocket is a nice feature - I keep an umbrella stored there. My only complaints - it does attract lint and the main zipper sticks a bit, but I have not had a major problem yet.

Used once on a trip and returned. Wanted a compact bag for carryon purposes for our family of 3 -- size for that was fine. But the construction has several key flaws. The front legs compress, and the overall angle of the bag standing is too straight up, such that it fell over loaded any time you wrap another bag over the handle -- needs a much firmer bottom piece. That handle is shaky (not robust); wiggles too much for good stability and if pushed (vs pulled) it's possible for the handle to collapse. Wheels were OK but not as good as LL's Excursion line (see my post on the XL of that). I'll continue to seek a compact, robust rolling bag.

I bought this bag for a 10 day stay with my brother in West Palm Beach, I live in Iowa. I wanted a bag I could carry on the plane.
This bag did everything I needed it to and more, if you need a carry-on this is it. The only problem was I wanted the dark green? I waited one day to late and had to order the brown but now I prefer it.
I'm 66 and this bag will last me the rest of my life and then some.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mountainsnowsleder Very Nice small bag
Just used this on a trip to California. The quality is very good and it looks good as well. Be warned if you have pets the black one is like a magnet for cat hair! The green was a much better choice for us and it is very attractive. It will fit under the seat but it is very tight and if you are on one of the smaller planes it will not fit in the overhead bin. The zippers didn't always work really smoothly. It holds quite a lot for the size. If you are packing flat clothing you can put a couple of pairs of jeans & several light sweaters in with no problem. If you are adding shoes & hair dryer, makeup bag you will only be putting in one change of clothing. Great bag, would buy it again.

This bag has some interesting features. It is the right size for short trips especially on commuter planes. The shortcoming to me is the laptop bag that was included... I only use my iPad for travel, so the included case is too large to be useful and it takes up too much space in this smaller bag. The divided sections may prove challenging when traveling to colder parts of the country.
Yet, I am still satisfied with the size and quality of the bag.

My husband frequently goes on 2-3 day business trips and this bag is the perfect size for everything he needs to take. Plus it fits better in the overhead compartment. We have 2 other LLBean suitcases that have been on many trips, so we knew we couldn't go wrong with this one.
