I had ordered the standard LL Bean blucher mocs in saddle but was disappointed by their low quality: the leather looked and felt very cheap. It felt plasticky to the touch and it was obvious that they would not develop a patina. In addition, they made a squeaky noise when worn sockless. Even after application of leather lotion to the problem areas they were still quite squeaky, which is a dealbreaker for me. Their only advantages were that they were comfortable and the color is versatile.
I decided to return those and spend $10 more on these Jackman signature mocs. I would say the improvement is worth more than $10. The leather quality is noticeably better: it was sturdier to the touch and oiled such that it has a color to it. We're not talking full grain leather here, but it actually has developed a patina after a month or two of wear.
The sole is the classic "camp sole" of older blucher mocs instead of the bizarre future-chic sole of the standard mocs. The sole is tan colored which looks less tacky than the black sole of the standard mocs. Finally, the welt construction of the sole looks better though I am by no means qualified to make that statement. It's just that there seems to be a layer of leather in between the sole and the shoe, unlike on the standard mocs, which I think indicates a better welt.
The rawhide laces are a nice touch: I think most casual leather shoes are improved with rawhide laces as they lend a more "Americana" look than standard shoelaces (and they are miles beyond the tacky looking taslan laces found on the standard blucher mocs. I think taslan laces belong on workboots only).
The comfort of these shoes is unbelievable. They have nice insoles that are comfortable both sockless as well as with socks. I do not exaggerate when I say these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.
As far as looks go, they are quite handsome. I generally prefer lighter brown shoes b/c they are more versatile but these shoes have grown on me. As with all other dark brown shoes they will go with everything except black slacks.
In summary, these shoes are well worth the extra $10. They are my favorite pair of shoes. I may buy the whipstitch camp mocs next. The standard blucher mocs are a cheap, trashy embarrassment to LL Bean's good name. These signature mocs rectify that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by rpm11 Great shoe, wish it came in a wide
The look and quality of this shoe is great, especially for the price. I do wish it came in a wide though, they are stretching out slowly but for now they hurt my feet. I have very wide feet however and this shouldn't be a concern for normal width people. LL Bean customer service is fantastic so if you are considering another shoe keep that in mind. It's worth it to go LL Bean.
