Rated 5 out of 5áby Firebreak Another Fine RUG!!
I bought one of these 6 of these 7 years ago and never had a single problem with any of them. They are made with Quality and Excellent Material. The Rugs themselves will become antiques by their own right in the years to come. If you want a rug that will pay off in use and compliments this is the Rug to buy. Can't talk enough about the Quality Workmanship these rugs are made with. I would recommend to any and all Buyers!!

I was very pleased with this rug...the color is wonderful and it's just the right size for where I want to put it...
It came well before I thought it would and came very well packaged.
LL Bean strikes again with great quality.

This is one of the few Bean products that I have had to return. I bought 2 of these rugs for my kitchen. After about 6 months, one of them started falling apart. LLBean was very good about taking it back. Too bad because they looked perfect in my kitchen.

I ordered the 2x3 all weather rug for my kitchen as a test run before ordering the larger sizes. I mainly wanted to feel the fabric for softness because being all weather and the ability to hose it off appeals to me but I was afraid it would feel like plastic. However, while the fabric is nice and soft, the instructions on the label state to vacuum, spot clean or professional clean. Doesn't say anything about hosing it off. Is this misinformation?

Rated 4 out of 5áby jumpnjive I like it
I bought the 2 x 3 (with a discount) in green heather so my cats could have a rug to lie on on the deck. The rug is so pretty and the colors fit perfectly with the decor in my dining room, so it is now in front of the double glass doors inside the house. I was very surprised at the nice colors because I bought a red one a few years ago for inside the front door, and it really looks like an outdoor rug. The stitching is fine and is really better than in the old one. I do think it a bit odd that the instructions that come with it say if they unravel it is easy to fix with a whip stitch. It's not a problem for me, but for others it might be. part of the label is still on the rug, they really do need to fix this issue. When it warms up I'm going to try to soak it off. Seems like they could use some kind of chain stitch that is not functional except to hold on the label.

This may be the first lukewarm review I have ever written about an L.L. Bean product (and I am aware that it is not manufactured by L.L. Bean.) I bought the 2'x3' version of this rug in the brown multi color, to go in front of my kitchen stove, and complement camel-colored waterhog mats I have against the cabinetry, protecting the wood floors. I wanted something which would look like an interior rug but clean up easily, and this rug seemed perfect for that purpose.
First, the good. From a distance, the rug looks good. And, as another reviewer noted, it is softer than expected. (The synthetic fibers are finely spun - think polyester pillow stuffing spun into yarn.) So far it seems durable - my two cats claw up any and all rugs and this rug is standing up well to this abuse. The braided design brings a warm country element into the kitchen, and goes well with my wood floors and cabinets.
But, for the bad... first, and this is really quite a subjective statement, the colors are "bolder" than I expected. There is a lot of bright white braided into this rug, and against medium and dark browns, it really stands out, more than I thought it would. I wanted something a bit more muted (perhaps replace the white with an off-white yarn.) I've gotten used to it, though, and others may actually prefer this look and not consider it to be a negative aspect of the rug.
Unfortunately, though, the quality of craftsmanship is objectively poor. The braids are stitched together with a very visible large machine-made zig-zag stitch. This would be okay if it were the only issue. The rug is meant to be used outside and I don't expect fine hand-stitching. But, on two "corners" diagonal to one another (if an oval can be said to have corners) there is messy and obvious back stitching, actually "back and forth" stitching, from the center of the rug, zigging and zagging several inches in one direction, then several inches in another direction, back and forth, in large stitches all the way to the outer edge. This is visible on both sides of the rug. Add to this the fact that the area where the braid ends appears as a lump which destroys the uniform oval shape of the rug, rather than elegantly tapering into the rug. The result is just a cheap-looking rug. As another reviewer said, it does not appear rustic... it just appears cheap, and I'm really not usually that picky... I like rusticity and flaws when it adds character. I can't believe that this is how the stitchers are instructed to finish these rugs.
Finally, as has been noted, there is a giant tag stitched onto the rug. When I read about that in the reviews, I assumed it was a small fabric L.L. Bean tag. Instead, it's a large (4"x6") plasticized paper tag, edged in blue, with the signature of the person who sewed the rug. The tag is stitched onto the rug by stitches which are integral to the rug's integrity (rather than extra surface stitches.) I tried to rip it off, but the threads started pulling away and I was afraid they would snap. Instead, I very carefully snipped it out, with tiny snips in between all the stitching. Even though I was extremely careful, I accidentally cut one of the stitches. This tag needs to be changed to either a card which comes in the package, or a sticker.
I will keep this rug because functionally, I think it is okay (although time will tell.) The price is right and I'm viewing it as sort of a "disposable" rug... if I can get a year out of it, that will be an amazing deal for $49. I've thought of ordering another one to replace this one, but I suspect that craftsmanship will be the same with all of them.

Rated 1 out of 5áby thebiga Not please with this rug at all.
I am usually very pleased with the quality of my purchases from LLBean. In this case I am VERY dissapointed. I have the rug for less than a year. It was only used for 5 months in our summer home and the threads are loose and the rugs is coming apart and fraying..it really does not look nice in my kitchen..I would certainly could not reccommend it to anyone.

We purchased two small braided rugs to use in our kitchen. They are attractive, colors as shown in calalog, Very easy to clean and they do not show spills or other marks made by two dogs and accident prone husband! When used on a kitchen floor a non-slip pad or double-sided tape is recommended to avoid sliding.

Rated 4 out of 5áby WVGIRL Great outdoor rug!
I bought this rug a few years ago in the 7x9 oval, blue heather color. I have really loved it thus far. It did come with some "picks" in the fabric and has continued to have some pic's from various things such as my dogs toenails. However I just lay the scisiors sideway on the rug and clip them off. Does not hurt a thing or damage the rug. Still looks great, cleans well with a garden hose and has provided many happy hours of sleeping comfort for my beagle and cat. Also has withstood lots of foot trafic as its on our covered porch between the pool deck and the main porch area. Soaks up lots of water daily in the summer and never molds or mildews. Would reccommend to anyone.
