Rated 5 out of 5 by BigSkyOhio Bison - FANTASTIC - Shearling
Have a pair of 8" Bison unlined boots - have become my fall/winter staple footwear. I so love the red sole & brown leather, decided to purchased identical shearling-lined 10" Bison. Wear size 8 1/2 B width in both lined & unlined got Bean size 7. No need for socks w/lined Bisons - come w/very thick contoured insole. For me the fit is perfecto, even w/thin sock. Should I want to wear a very thick sock, out comes the sole liner - still as cushy as can be. These boots are like slippers; used to work at a ski resort & these can be fashionable off the slope, ala apres skiing or a day of shopping at the outlet mall. I can wear them out to feed & groom horses, having a solid sure footing in any weather condition. Could not be more pleased w/look, feel, functionability & value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kmfalcon The best boots I've ever owned
I received these boots as a gift, and I could not be happier. They do run a bit big, but it leaves room for winter socks.
These boots got me through a blizzard last week; three days of stomping around Boston in 3 feet of snow, and my toes were warm and dry. It's snowing again today, and I happily put my boots on when I got up this morning. Totally worth it. I have a feeling they'll be my go-to boots for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by meelbo beautiful, but heavy
These are beautifully made boots, like all boots from LLBean. They're just a little bigger and heavier than I really need for spring, so I'm returning them; but if it were the beginning of winter I'd probably keep them!

I am so happy with my decision to purchase the Bison Boot. This boot is the best EVER! I've always wanted the L.L. Bean winter boot. This has to be the best purchase I've made. I read the reveiws, and I paid attention to those who had their "issues". If you have a hard time getting the boot on or off, loosen the laces all the way down. At first they were a bit difficult to put on and take off, but once I loosened the laces all the way down I had no problem. Plus, the more I wore them the less I had to loosen them. I don't have a real issue with the length of the laces. I don't lace them up all the way. If you boot is too small or too big, you really have to follow the size chart. I went so far as to go to a Bean store to try on a pair just to make sure I would purchase the right size. Yes the shearling is thick. That's a good thing because I know my feet are going to be warm so I don't wear a very thick sock. I love my boots I find reasons to wear them. They are sturdy, they look good, feel good, are made very well. I have to say the customer service is outstanding! Both in the store, and the online chat.

I ordered these in 2 sizes: 8 & 9. I usually wear an 8.5 shoe (slim to medium foot). The 8 was plenty large and fit quite well with toe room to spare, but no sideways slippage. The boots are so comfortable that I put them on and didn't take them off all day. Wear them laced up about 3/4 of the way around the house all day, or out and about. I have bony feet and did not feel any soreness or rubbing at all (worn with medium weight smartwool socks). Truly a forever boot!

I bought these based on the review of the woman from Red Oak, IA. I am on an acreage in Cumming, IA.
I bought two pairs, one for my daughter that wears a size 11, and a pair for me a 10.5 size.
They both fit perfectly, but in reverse order. Her foot is narrow and mine is a little wide. So I went up to the 11 and she down to the 10.
I love the arch support, the warmth, the fact that they don't look gigantic on my feet. They have no breaking in period, My footing on the snow and in the mud today was secure, no slipping and sliding.
To me they are not a luxury, but luxurious. They are not a "want", they are a "needed" secure footing tool.
I understand why they cost so much, it is because they are perfect. Plain and simple.

I tried the other LL Bean shearling-lined leather boots, but my feet and legs were more comfortable with the bison leather. The bison leather felt like instantly broken-in and the red sole goes well with the brown leather. My feet just slipped into the boots without much wiggling and they landed on soft thick warm lining. Aahhh! I cannot imagine wearing another kind of boots than these L.L.Bean, 10" Bison Shearling-Lined. Walked happily. Thank you, L.L. Bean!

Rated 4 out of 5 by FussyShopper3 Lots to love about these, and maybe with a "but.."
Haven't worn them around much yet, so my initial review is mainly "what's in the box" for people deciding because it's things I wanted to know.
I wear a solid 9 and ordered same, and they fit perfectly. VERY surprisingly, they are quite tailored fitting, not clunky or clodhopper, so very easy to walk in normally (no urge to clomp). They look and feel like a noticeably high end version of the duck boot (clearly not plasticky junk). The bison upper is substantial but not at all stiff, probably well worth the price since these are kind of a forever boot. No break-in period needed, they feel like comfy slippers right out of the box. Upper would conform to thin as well as larger calf sizes, no problem. And made in USA?? Did I read that right? (Bean, please do more of that.)
Downsides? Laces should be a couple inches longer, if not several. And the sheepskin is not in the foot bed. (Awk??!) BUT innersole is removeable and replaceable so I ordered the sheepskin inserts ($20) in Unisex size 8, yet to arrive. A plus/minus indecision is there isn't much between your foot and the snow or ice. Seems like just the sole you see. That might be a good thing though, because there's good feel feedback for the surface you're walking on. I question whether the sole's traction pattern is aggressive enough for slick snow or ice. But again, that's fixable with add-on ice cletes in major ice. There's definitely something very irresistible about these. Comfort, fit and "feminine walkability" is A+ but very hard to find in a serious boot, which this is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by newtochicago Great boot but runs large
I am new to snow and ice and this boot is warm and keeps my feet dry. Great tread to help with slipping and I am sure this boot will last. It runs one size too big. I wear a nine to nine and a half and I have exchanged the nine for an eight. The one thing I would like is for easier lacing at the top. The buffalo shearing is really nice and warm. Worth the extra money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CosmicWorkshop Amazingly comfortable, great fit, waterproof!
I received my boots yesterday, put them on and have had warm dry and comfortable feet ever since. The every step I take around our snowy farm, the softer they get. I am going to have these boots for many years! I also have two different size feet, one 9 and one 9 1/2, and the roomy interior of the shoes accommodates this. I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend these boots to everyone! I am also very pleased with the fact that these boots are made in America, by Americans, and out of American materials. Go team!
