Rated 5 out of 5 by Camporama Awesome Light
I first saw this light on a hunting trip with a buddy. I'm a nut when it comes to quality equipment. He was proud of his new birthday gift and gave me a demonstration, needless to say I was very impressed and ordered my own. When I got it, I read the instructions on the inside paper. It didn't say to push the white button 4 times until the button turned blue, so I couldn't get the remote to work. Then I read the instructions on the outside of the box and it gave the correct procedure to activate the remote function. The light fills a small room with plenty of light to read by and do all kinds of activities and it is very conservative of the batteries. I love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by oldtentcamper Remote Works !
Other reviewers have complained that their remote didn't work and I thought mine didn't either. The problem is not the remote, problem is that no directions come with the light to tell you how to operate the remote. The Q & A section below the online description "shed light" on the difficulty.
You push the power button once for low light, twice quickly in succession for medium, three times quickly for high AND FOUR TIMES QUICKLY IN SUCCESSION FOR REMOTE OPERATION. The power button then turns to a blue light and you can adjust the light intensity with the remote.
I have used the light on several recent camping trips and I like it very much. It is small and lightweight for easy packing. "Honest Critic" was right on the mark with his description of the light's uses at the various power levels. Best of all, no more propane tanks and fragile gas mantles !!
The only thing I don't like about it is that the power button flashes as long as there are live batteries in the light. This feature is intended to help you find the light in a power outage. Useful for some people I am sure but I pack my light away between camping trips so it is just a useless drain on the batteries. The easy fix is just to remove the batteries and store them with the light until I need it again. Not a big deal and the plusses of this light far outweigh this little minus.
This is my first review but I have read MANY reviews from people who have used products and share their experiences here and on other online sites. I have found them very valuable and so THANK YOU all for taking the time !

Rated 5 out of 5 by HonestCritic Great Emergency LIght
I bought this light to have in the event that a storm knocked out power. I already own several flashlights and non-LED lanterns, but the 'run time' is too short on all of them, measured in hours, not days!
This lantern throws off a lot of light on the high setting. Easily enough to allow several people in 12 x15 room to read comfortably.
On medium, and the lantern on a close by table, it's fine for reading and any other 'task lighting' purpose. On the low setting the lantern provides enough illumination to allow you to carry on with general tasks but not enough for reading unless the lantern is very close at hand.
I keep an unused set of D cells right next to the lamp. I know that I am 'good to go' no matter how long the emergency lasts.
The lantern is a GREAT piece of emergency gear to own. It is well made and relatively small in size, but NOT in output.
I also like the remote control.
All in all, very satisfied with this purchase.

This was great for our pop-up camper. We could set it on a table or hang it from a hook on the ceiling. Also, when the lantern was turned off, a blue "nightlight" came on. We would recommend this for anyone who enjoys camping!

Rated 5 out of 5 by issybell Lighthouse 30 day Lantern
Love this lantern. We have one other one and decided to buy a second for our travel trailer. Only problem with it is, it is so bright that it is kind of blinding when I carry it in the dark. But, it is amazing how it will light up a whole room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Saltylady Best compact lantern!
Absolutely love this lantern. The ability to have an obstructed overhead light that has more than enough light to read by is awesome. The remote is perfect. As a regular lantern it is compact but has bright light and 3 levels. Thanks again LLBean for having top quality very functional products!

Rated 4 out of 5 by cindysmt adequately lights a good size totally dark room
This lamp is great. Tested it in my basement when it was pitch black and it lighted the whole area, even on low! The only reason I didn't rate it 5 star is because the remote doesn't seem to work, but the flashlight part of the remote works well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by littlejewel24 nice lantern, bad remote
Happy to have lantern for power outages. No one could get the remote to work. I will keep it however because of the hassle of sending it back. Be nice to have a workable remote, but not a necessity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LadyHiker101 Your own little lighthouse
With the lantern's set on high, it lights up a huge room or camping area in all directions. You can easily carry it from one room or area to the next because it's light and comes with an easy to grip pop up handle. As I live in earthquake country, a lantern that takes only three D batteries at a time and can run for up to 30 days while set on it's lowest level is a great find. The lantern puts out more than sufficient light even on its lowest setting. I highly recommend it for all disaster preparedness kits in addition to campsite lighting needs. My son enjoys taking it to walk along the beach at night with his friends. It puts out much more light and in all directions than a flash light. Lighthouse is indeed a good name for the product.
