I have a very dark hallway with only a ceiling light. I purchased the Lighthouse Lantern and keep it at the end of the hall and turn it on as I need it for use there. It is in a good spot just outside of my bedroom in case we lose power, which we may after the storm we had today with another one coming Monday into Tuesday - this one is said to be of blizzard proportion. At least I don't worry about being able to see if power goes out. I'm very happy with the light and plan to get back to LL Bean to order another one to keep in my cellar area if needed again, if we lose power and I happen to be downstairs at the time.

It is everything I was led to believe it would be. It is great as an emergency light in the home and a great light to take camping. It gives off a lot of light.

Rated 4 out of 5áby NWShopper321 Great lantern, bad remote
Haven't had to use the lantern much yet, but the light it puts out, and the basic design seem very good. Forget the remote control, however. Had it in a drawer by the bed for about six weeks without ever using it and the batteries were dead when I tried to use it. There's some very bad design in the electronics there. Made me nervous enough about the lantern draining when not in use that I removed the batteries from it. I hope I can put them back in and line up the base (it's tricky) in the dark someday.

My husband hung this in the horse's stall so I could see in the dark. It's a soft, gentle light that is just enough for what I need. I love the remote on/off.

I purchased this lantern mainly for emergency use. It really does throw off a lot of light. I use battery adapters with the lantern. This way it converts AA batteries to the D battery size. It seems to work great without any problem. I was reluctant at first to buy this lantern because D batteries are so expensive and not always readily available . The lantern seems very well made and I am looking forward to many years of use. Even at the lowest setting it gives enough light to get around indoors. Initial impressions are good !

It works even better than expected. In fact, I'm going to order another one to use upstairs when the power goes off. We liked the handles, top or bottom, the blinking light to show us where it is when the power goes off. We haven't used the remote yet in a blackout situation, but did try it to make sure it worked -- and it did. Being able to use it either side up is a nice bonus; easier to hang it where most needed.

I bought this for my in-loves b/c they were always losing their power in storms. It is a powerful little lantern that puts out a great deal of light. It also has many nice features. You can use a remote with it and the remote is its own flashlight. The globe comes off the lantern and you can turn it upside down and hang for even greater light. We had fun exploring the features and now I think my in-loves are looking forward to the next storm :-)

I bought this to have in the house in case of an emergency. The best feature is that there is a flashing green light so you can find it in an emergency (or use the remote control to turn on the light)! I've put it in a closet so the flashing light doesn't annoy. On a test try... it lights up a 15' x 30' room and beyond well enough for this old gal to find her way. I like the flashing red light feature in case I need to be found quickly. Clicking from one light level to the other is a breeze. The remote, however, requires a very small special screwdriver to open the battery area. It's a sturdy little lantern! Worth the buy.
