Rated 2 out of 5 by Skysailor Sizing for Plaid vs. Plain
In the store I tried on both the plaid and plain fleece shirts. The cut of the plaid was commensurate with a generous over shirt, the same as the corduroy.. while the plain fleece was that of a regular shirt. In addition, the plaid fleece seemed somewhat less substantial than the plain, and while the difference was minor, the quality seemed lessened.
I'm disappointed in LLBean.. the two fleece shirts should not be reviewed as if they were the same.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BeansRegular Not as nice as the men's version
I bought several of these in the misses XS, my usual size, and several in the smallest of the men's regular sizes. Everyone in my house likes to keep the heat below 65 in the winter, but being quite thin, I sometimes get cold. I have found that these shirts in the men's version act like big shirts (I have bigger shoulders from years of weight training) and do a great job of keeping me warm enough to keep the heat turned low. The women's versions, while also cozy and soft, are quite a bit thinner and do not retain as much heat. The front placket in the women's version is not reinforced, and therefore is harder to button and keep buttoned (buttons pop open themselves).
My son (20 years old and much taller and more muscular than me) cannot understand why the men's shirts and fleece and jackets are always heavier weight for men (who like him do tend to run warmer in general than women) while the women always get the thinned down fabric. I personally would like the fabric of the same thickness as the men's fabric (think Scotch plaid flannel shirts last year where the fabric was just as thick for both and both sold out quickly). If this shirt was made in the same thickness with some princess seams or darts for women, it would truly be a great overshirt. For now, I will use the men's version for the times that I really need to warm up, and the women's for when I just need to get the chill off.
I also feel that, since these shirts are made to layer over other shirts, they need to be slightly more generously cut for size. My usual XS was a bit tight in the shoulders over a long sleeve tee, and I needed to get a S to get the correct fit over a typical winter version tee.
They do wash and dry very well. I wash them in cold water with other fleece. I put them in a moderate dryer for a few minutes, then hang them to dry for the balance. They come out like brand new, with no pills or shrinkage that way.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Seabiscute Plaid does not match on the front, alas
I was very disappointed when I received this lush cuddly fleece shirt to see that the plaid does not match up when it is buttoned. It looks tacky and it is going back. I am also disappointed if this is now the acceptable standard of quality control at LL Bean. I hope it is merely an isolated instance and my bad luck.

So very cozy and comfortable, bought two more right away for my daughters. New baby loves snuggling against Mama and Nana when we wear them! Takes away the chill both indoors and out. Love the raspberry/pink plaid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by aUSconsumer Ultra soft & comfortable!
Received this shirt in the raspberry pink plaid and am so happy with how cozy soft & comfortable it is. Put it on right away as our weather turned cold & snowy. Nice rich colors compliment some of my other tees & turtlenecks from LL when worn underneath. Have not washed it yet so hope it washes up well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by diane58 Would I recommend this to a Friend???
YES! I most definitely would!!! I found it does run a tad on the large side but love it! The fabric is Super SOFT! It's softer than some of my fleece sweat shirts. I had it on one day and fell asleep with it on and thought I was in my pajamas it was that soft! I love the pink/maroon, though I really wanted the blue. The pink does brighten up a long winter and gets you in the mood for Spring! I was to wear it w/a shirt under but opted to not due to the softness of the fabric. You can actually order a size down if you don't want to wear another article of clothing under it. It does wash very well.......I don't dry my clothing in the dryer, so this wasn't stiff when it was line dried. Also I liked the fact that the colors in the fabric didn't run when washed. I've had this happen w/maroon colored items in the past............

Rated 5 out of 5 by lamykin Nice!
Very warm, soft and fuzzy. I have a black one from many years ago that I still wear. This one is a little lighter then my old one but still like it. Not sure it would be worth the reg. price but the clearance price was just right!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ginnieb Love the shirt, and buying 4 more for gifts
I have had this pink shirt all winter and wear it in the house over everything. It is quite roomy ( actually I sent back the XL first and got an L) but it is warm and light weight and great over a tee shirt. Now it is on sale and I am ordering more for gifts for next Christmas. I shop well in advance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by poetgal Cozy go-to shirt/sweater
I bought this shirt in pink plaid, a gorgeous plaid, last fall, and I have worn it in the house all winter in lieu of a sweater; it is lighter and simply more cozy and comfortable. If it's not too cold, you can run outside in it. I listened to the other reviews that said it runs big, so I ordered a small and returned in for a medium as I never wear it alone, but over another winter tee shirt, and the small was tight. I am a 36 on top. I bought these shirts for Xmas for both my daughter and daughter-in-law, and they love them. Simply a great shirt!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ellisaana So great it is hard to resist
OK. I have this shirt in 5 colors now. A pinkish plaid, two checks, solid antique rose and island blue.
This shirt is puppy dog comfortable.
Right out of the package, it's like an old friend. The fit is perfect.
It works over a sweater, over a tee, over a sleeveless tank, or on its own.
Casual, but never sloppy looking, it wears well and washes up nicely, too.
I am trying very hard not to buy another in navy or in wine.
If only it came in green, or a green plaid...maybe next year,
