I was very happy to find a pair of these at our local LL Bean store because my previous pair finally fell apart after many years of ski use. I really like these because they do a great job keeping me warm and they are thinner and lighter than any comparable material. My only complaint is that I fall between two sizes. I went with the slightly baggy size.

These are very soft and comfortable, and keep my legs nice and warm. The only thing I would change would be to lower the waistline just a bit as it's pretty high and shows above my jeans.

Several years ago I ordered the regular silk pants and they were fine. So I ordered another pair of the same thing; when they arrived and I opened the package, a strong chemical smell permeated the air. It smelled like bug spray. The smell did not wash out. I returned the item. This time I decided to try the pointelle version in both the pant and scoop neck top. Unfortunately I noticed the chemical smell once again. These items will be returned. LL Bean: please track down this problem as it is costing you sales. I probably would have ordered another complete set if the items were free of oder.

I wouldn't be without this baselayer in the winter. Lightweight enough to wear under jeans or dressier pants. I am in and out of the classroom dozens of times a day and classrooms tend to be chilly anyway. I am slender and have a hard time staying warm enough in winter. These fill the bill. Weightless layer that keeps me comfortable all day.

For 6 months each year, I mostly layer these. I have worn this silk pointelle variety for years, and only need to replace them when they get holes in the knees. the light, delicate fabric allows me to be comfortable outdoors without getting too hot indoors, and without the bulk of wool. I do wear wool long underwear, but only when it gets extremely cold or I'm going to be outdoors for an extended period of time with little activity to keep me warm.

Pointelle is way more durable than regular silk long johns.
Great under slacks for warmth and to protect skin from rough material.

I bought these to wear under my jeans when I walk my dogs in the cold weather. They were to replace a pair that I got from another company many years ago that finally started to wear out. I have a feeling that these won't last nearly as long. There are wear marks already from where my knees bend, and I've worn them less than two dozen times. They just seem somewhat skimpy to me. By the way, the other pair that wore out did not wear out in the knees.
As to keeping me warm, so far so good.

These silk pants are great for layering under jeans on cold days in North Carolina. I bought a black pair and will be buying more in the future.

I've been wearing similar silks from another source for many years. I ordered these from LL Bean and have worn and washed them once with no complaints. I use a lingerie bag on gentle wash and hang dry. I'm sure they will be fine, but was surprised to have received the capri length by mistake. I will keep them anyway. Not worth the trouble for a $2 price difference and my socks cover the distance. I'm 5'4" and have short legs. I have sensitive skin in the winter and wear them constantly--even when in shreds. I'll buy more next year.
