Rated 5 out of 5 by GreatLaker The perfect workout shoe
Some years ago I bought a pair similar to these from LL Bean (might have been the NB 844, but it was their best performance walking shoe). Used it for the elliptical and treadmill. The shoe's tread finally wore out and I bought the 847. Fantastic shoe--lightweight, quality construction, and extremely comfortable (be sure to follow the NB sizing guidelines to go up a half size). I couldn't be happier. And, if I'm not mistaken, the price is about the same as what I paid 8-10 years ago! Definitely a great purchase.

i have very wide feet and the extra wide width was perfect...very comfortable and there was no time needed to get adjusted to the shoe...walked three and a half miles the first day with no problems...

Rated 2 out of 5 by PhillyPete1181 Disappointed....
These sneakers are light and comfortable, and did support my feet very well.
But for $125 I expected a top-notch pair of walking sneakers. As in many previous pairs of New Balance sneakers I've owned, the tongues were stitched in slightly crooked to the right, so they have to be pulled and centered often. And they are not long enough...having the laces on the top holes means they can fall off the tongue and be directly on your sock. Also note that the leather is synthetic, not real. Why not real leather at this price?
Then, after only 3 months of occasional wear, the inside left heel material wore a hole through it, causing pain in the back of my heel. I expect that kind of wear in 2 year old sneakers, not in brand new (expensive) ones. Obviously the material used in the liner is not wear-tolerant.
I'll be sending them back for a refund, and will shop for replacement high-end walking sneakers elsewhere since this is all that LL Bean offers.

Much lighter in weight than my previous walking shoes. (Of course, those are leather; these are mesh.) Very comfortable. Probably worth the $25 more in cost than my former shoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Warlord Comfort and fit
Injuries and multiple joint replacements have reduced me to walking. These are advertised as being walking shoes and they appear to do an excellent job. While still new I have walked around 25 miles in them so far. They are very comfortable and the fit is right on. Support is very good for this type of shoe. Too early to tell about durability and wear pattern but I am very satisfied with them so far and definitely would recommend them. I have added a Spenco orthotic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kevin Instant cure for my achey hip and knees
These are about the fifth iteration of NB performance walkers I've owned. When my hip a/o knee begin to ache during my daily power walk, I know it's time to replace. I'd say the sizing is just right. They're nice and light. The sole bed seems flat at first, but quickly conformed to my foot and slightly high arches. Plenty of room in the toe box. Well worth the modest premium in price.

JUST STARTED WEARING THEM, BUT I AM IMPRESSED. VERY LIGHT, VERY COMFORTABLE. I NORMALLY TAKE A 9-EE. THAT'S WHAT I ORDERED, AND THE FIT IS PERFECT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by thesutterbug Good product. This is my second pair
This shoe runs a little narrow. I usually wear a D width, however, I went to the EE width and it fits me perfectly. A very good wearing shoe as I had my first pair for a year before having to replace it. A very comfortable shoe with very little break-in period.
