I recently purchased these shoes for a trip to Alaska. Not only did they keep my feet completely dry , they provided great traction and were so comfortable I wore them for the entire trip. Might be a little on the hot side for Alabama summers, but overall, an excellent product. Be sure to order 1/2 size larger than your usual size.

The toe box leather is extremely thin. after only a few hours of wear a crease developed in the top of one toe box where the shoe naturally bends. within 2 more days the crease split open and started getting bigger. I then noticed a crease developing in the other shoe's toe box. I returned the shoes for a refund as I don;t trust a replacement

Wear lots of New Balance, but mostly warm weather running and walking shoes - the ventilated kind. Normal size is 12 in walking and 13 in running. I do wish New Balance made a 12 1/2.
Needed some warmer, waterproof shoes for a trip up North (way up North) and I decided to try these. Ordered a size 12 but they were a bit too small (no 12 1/2!). Sent them back - LL Bean Customer Support is the best!. Got a replacement pair in size 13. These fit great - comfortable from the moment I put them on. I use an orthotic but the Country Walkers handled it no problem. They are comfortable, not rigid, with good support and stability. No pressure on the toes, bend easily when walking.
These are fine shoes, up to New Balance standards, and I recommend them to all. Do watch the size though. LL Bean says order a half size larger and they are right. No 12 1/2 so I ended up with a full size larger and they fit well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JimDH So far, so good
I ordered a pair of New Balance 608's from Bean 6 mos. ago, and they seemed like a good shoe "AT THE TIME".......However, as they were worn more and more, they started to create all sorts of pain in my feet (thus, the title)........I'm waiting to see if these shoes hold up; they are comfortable at this time, walk well, and are an "easy care"....
Only time will tell if they break down in a short period of time, or if they're actually a good shoe..................

I bought the shoes to wear to work. I was looking for light weight, comfort and waterproof. The shoes have exceeded my expectations. I plan to also use these when hiking as they have very good support.

Very supportive. The cushioning is firm but great. I have rheumatoid arthritis, so I need a cushioned shoe. Sometimes the balls of my feet swell, so I really like the roomy toebox in these shoes. I highly recommend them, especially for people who need a wide, high toebox.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Glenwood Since they were waterproof, they were hot!
My husband wore these for just a few days and said they were too hot to wear...they are waterproof, but he did not find that they were breathable at all. Sending them back today.

I walk a lot, and use orthotics. These shoes are the most comfortable I have ever walked in. They last a long time, and they are waterproof, making them work for New England winters. They are heavier than some shoes, but for the support, durability, and waterproofing, I think they need to be heavier. And while they are great for walking through slush or rain, your feet will get wet if you stand in a puddle. I just bought my second pair, and wear them all the time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ssamuelj1 For wider, deeper toe box check out this shoe
I had high hopes for this shoe, based on New Balance's description of the shoe's construction (their MOL-1 last). Specifically, I was looking for a deeper shoe, with deeper and wider toe box, to accommodate an orthotic or after-market upgraded insole. Also, I have a narrower heel. For the most part, the dimensions of the shoe were "as advertised". Unfortunately, the last part was where the shoe let me down. Supposedly a "narrower" heel, but it didn't seem to be, and my heel kept coming up, no matter how I laced them.
On a brighter note, the shoe was otherwise comfortable, was well-constructed with quality materials. Ultimately, because of the heel issue, I decided not to keep them. I also agree with recommendation to go up 1/2 size.
