Awesome bike! Well constructed. Very sturdy. It truly does fold up and fit in a car trunk as advertised. Highly recommend.
The best part of the entire purchasing process, however, was the customer service rep. I am sorry I forgot his name because he truly should be singled out for recognition. I was using a bunch of LL Bean gift certificates (not gift cards), some of which were over 10 years old. I forgot I had them and only discovered that I did when I was going through some old files and found them. I had to read the long number from each certificate to the rep and each time he patiently looked it up. Many had already been used. Eventually, we found enough active certificates to cover the cost of the bicycle. He never once showed any exasperation with me as he took number after number. He remained pleasant and helpful. What a wonderful experience!
By the way, the bike arrived ahead of the scheduled delivery date. Overall, this was the best experience I have had with a customer service rep.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Billoftheroad Boardwalk, an excellent machine
My experience of the Boardwalk is about seven months of urban riding. I do not own a car and travel up to five miles one-way to get to our local mall.(where I bought the bike at LLBean). The bike has a quality look and is solidly constructed of good materials.. The ride is stable and actually a lot of fun. I am a bit concerned about the carrying capacity, I am currently 223 lbs. and I think that that weight is approaching the limit. However, diet will cure that problem. I must honestly say that the young people I meet go ga-ga over the bike, one kid yelled,"I want that bike!"
The bike folds easily. It not super light, but I'm 72 and I manage to handle it easily. I also have arthritis in both knees and can not mount a normal male bike, so the low slung Boardwalk is easy to hop on.
Of course, the bike goes easily into the back seat area of a car, and it fits dandily into a trunk. No more fuming over the "How in the blazes can I get this bike into the car!"
On the negative side, and it is my own fault. I should have purchased a bike with gearing to get up slopes easier. However, on level ground the bike is a real "goer!" Also I am not overly thrilled with the coaster brake on the rear because if you mount the bike and the crank is in the wrong position, the brake engages and makes getting underway difficult.
Overall, if you are seeking a city bike or a bike for taking on road trips, the Boardwalk is a good choice. Happy cycling!!
