Rated 5 out of 5 by susielovesllbean Great Winter Boots
I wore my new boots in -14 winter weather and they kept my feet dry and warm. Very comfortable and I like the side zipper. The zipper makes the boots easy to get on and off quickly!

Rated 4 out of 5 by galeegirl loved them BUT
Loved the boots, they were too small and it cost me to return them to get the right size!!! Needless to say, I didn't reorder them -- what if the second pair didn't fit - again a charge to return them. I won't be shopping LLBean on-line again.

There's only one word for these boots - TERRIFIC!! I got them at the end of last winter Jan 2013. Several other reviewers described them as hard to break in around the ankle, gave rubs, etc. but most reviews were very good. I have pretty skinny ankles and very dry skin and they have been comfortable from day one. I wear a dress shoe size 8 and have bunions making comfortable shoes hard to find. I bought these in size 9. This year, they have been put to the test, shoveling snow for hours, doing chores at the barn where I keep my horse, slogging through snow and mud and even commuting to New York City today in my suit and dress coat and coming home to yet another 8-10" of snow. They are comfortable, keep my feet warm and dry, reasonably priced. What more could you ask for in a winter boot? Thanks L.L. Bean!

Rated 5 out of 5 by BookQueen Go To Winter Boot
I have been wearing these boots for three months and they have turned into my "go to" winter boots. This has been a cold , snowy winter in PA and it has been so easy to slip the boots on, zip up the side and go out the door. Originally, I bought the boots for rain but because of great traction, they have done beautifully in the snow.
Pro: Waterproof and warm. Even when I walked the dog in below zero temperatures, my feet were comfortable, not toasty, mind you, but comfortable.
Pro: Easy to slip on and so far, the heavy duty zipper has done the job. So grateful not to have put on my hiking boots and tie up all the laces.
Con: Size - I wear an 8 1/2, wide shoe and went up to a size 9. The 9s were just too large and I returned them for an 8 1/2 which works fine with thinner weight socks. I found that hiking socks were too thick to zip over.
Con: A rounder toe box would be preferable to the current toe box which is somewhat pointy.
Con: I have large calves and initially I was unable to zip the boots completely up. But after wearing them a number of times, they stretched out and I eventually zipped them up completely. Remember to stick with thinner socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mo3bk Great boots!
I got tired of buying the cute fur-lined boots that look like they will keep your feet warm but quickly end up soaking through. Bought these and they have kept my feet warm and dry in what has been a very cold and snowy start to winter. They are not the most stylish, but if you want a good quality waterproof boot that will keep your feet protected from the elements, I highly recommend this pair!

Rated 5 out of 5 by NEMich Good fit
I wear an 8 1/2 shoe, so I followed previous reviewers advice and ordered size 9. I have difficult time wearing boots that are higher than ankle boots because I have larger calves. Am extremely happy with the fit. Only disappointment was that I didn't understand how much 200-gram insulated meant. I assumed it was very insulated--but it's not. This was my fault and I am still giving 5 stars because I love this boot.

This is a nice boot if you don't mind the mid lower leg height. I could not get used to it. It felt uncomfortable to walk in and my slacks would not stay in the boot. I did not like that. They are light weight and comfortable with mid weight crew or knee high socks. I have a narrow foot, so I inserted some Dr Scholls gel inserts which made them fit perfectly for me. They are true to size in length. I wear a 6.5 shoe & purchased the 6.5M boot, the length was perfect. The sole has great traction in snow and I did not slip & fall on the ice while wearing them. I did notice after being outside for an hour in 15-20 degree weather, my feet were starting to get cold. So they are not as warm as I thought they would be. I liked the side zipper, which made them easy to get on & off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MountainChica Miss the old style
As you see in the reviews, order a size up - I ordered 1/2 size up, and they are just big enough. The original style was a pull on which I found super easy and fast to put on. The zipper style is a tighter fit on the ankle which may be good for warmth and support, but they aren't that easy to get on. I am hoping they stretch out a bit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LucyBTV Great...if you don't have large calves
I was so excited to try these boots, particularly after reading the other reviews. As suggested by others, I ordered a size larger (10 for my 9.5 foot) and with a heavy sock they fit well.
I loved how warm they were and wished they were just a little more accommodating for those of us with regular-to-large sized calves. The top of the back and front of the boot rubbed against my skin, despite my thick socks between the two.
As a result, I returned these and have gone with the lace up version of these, I'm sure they'll be a better fit!

They are rated for -20, hope I never see that. But for the 20 we have seen they are perfect. Feet just right never cold. Walk a mile to and from school everyday.
