I have used the NB walking shoes for years and found the 846 to be the best all around. The 847 is too wide in the toe box in the narrow width which make the shoe feel too big all over. They have a 847v2 that is new to NB but is always out of stock at NB. That is supposed to be a better fitting shoe.

Rated 2 out of 5 by doterina Possible design flaw in New Balance 847
Unfortunately I had to return these shoes. There were some lumps inside the top of the toe box which put pressure on my toes. The lumps were at the spot where the seams were sewn together. And because this model is not made with real leather, I knew they could not stretch to fit properly. I have been wearing New Balance shoes for quite a few years and have not run into this design problem before. I have had great success with New Balance 608 Cross Trainer and NB 1765 Premier Walking Shoe, which I have been wearing for the past 4 months and they are still going strong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Juddie Most comfortable shoes
I am completely happy with these shoes. I ordered a half size larger, as advised, and they fit me perfectly. They have much better support than my previous purchases of running shoes, and the insoles are extremely comfortable (soft but still supportive). I have a lot of heel pain, and these have been a tremendous help. Finally, a successful shoe purchase!!

Very comfortable, great support, yet light weight. This shoe also comes in 2D (extra wide) but, you don't carry it. I would have preferred the 2D.
The length runs long.

Very pleased with NB. One size larger as recommended is just right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SpiritBear5 Love these, except....
Glad to see New Balance walking shoes in a narrower width. However, the AA (narrow) is still wider than a "narrow" should be, in my estimation. One can always depend on the comfort and support of this brand, but they should still strive to reach the customer with the narrower foot. And no, wearing athletic socks still doesn't fill them out enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TexasBluebell comfortable fit with plenty of toe space
I have a wide foot and ordered the wide fit which provides plenty of room for toe space. I like the mesh vents which really do keep my feet cooler during my walk. I can feel the cool air coming through the mesh. Might be a little cool for winter walking, but it's great for Texas summer walking. The shoes also have a removable insert that provides the extra cushion for the bottom of your feet. The tongues of these shoes lay better than any tongues of athletic shoes I've had before and the shoe laces stay tied which I've had trouble with in past shoes. I am pleasantly pleased with the quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dogwalker50 Comfortable, fairly priced
I'm a professional dog walker, and I have been wearing top-of-the-line New Balance walking shoes for almost 20 years. New Balance shoes run about 1/2 size small, so I buy an 8 1/2 (vs. size 8). I have tried more expensive, trendy walking shoes, but the cost/benefit analysis always brings me back to this model. There is sufficient support and cushion for my 50 year old feet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by LadyHiker101 Just bought a second pair
Far superior shoe in comparison to those New Balance makes off shore now. I just returned a pair of imported New Balance shoes because the quality was so inferior. For starters, one shoe tongue was half an inch longer than the other.
