I am using this on top of a futon and it works very well to give me an extra little softness that I need. I am using the feather bed cover which works well to keep the feathers from poking through.
Also, I had previously purchased LL Bean sateen full fitted sheets (fern design) and, with a futon, it fits easily over both futon and featherbed (does not squash featherbed). This combination has worked very well for me.

We ordered this for our queen bed a few years ago, and now that we are upgrading to a king size we are ordering another one. This is a great product if used correctly. You need to buy a feather-bed cover to put it in. It does not work to try and put a fitted sheet over the top of it and mush it into the mattress like one reviewer apparently tried to do - that defeats the whole purpose. Put your fitted sheet over your mattress, then put this feather bed in its case over the top and sleep directly on it. Make sure it's turned with the down side up. It's a bit heavy to "fluff" it, but definitely worth the trouble if you want to sleep on a cloud. One other con - occasionally you will get one of the feathers from the bottom layer (feathers on the bottom layer, down on the top) to work through to the top. Just pull it out.

Rated 2 out of 5áby MaxandTyGrandmom Soft and frustrating
This feather bed is comfortable, however, the feathers do stick through the material, my sheet and into me. The most frustrating part is that it shifts under a sheet, pulls enough to undo the fitted sheet, then I find half of this feather bed over the side of my bed.
Needs to be remade on a nightly basis. I have kept it because it's now used. If I ever get another one, I would buy the one that has material that goes under the mattress to hold it in place.

Rated 3 out of 5áby Bella00 Comfortable but difficult to "use"
Very comfortable for a short time. Even though this has baffles to keep the down from shifting, it is difficult for one person to "re-fluff". You can't put a fitted sheet over it or the feathers compress. You need to use a loose sheet over it as well so that the heat from the duvet and body can be released. Because you need the loose sheet to be able to re-fluff, it makes making the bed time consuming. I so wanted to keep this. Cumbersome to stuff this back in the box. Thank you LL Bean for making returns as easy as possible and for being understanding. I wish this were more like a european duvet.
