Rated 5 out of 5 by tmblr LOVE it.
I absolutely love this jacket. Have used in -6F and with just a tshirt underneath and was totally fine. I am 5'4/130lbs and the Misses XS is a perfect fit-- I can still put a couple of thinner layers underneath. The hood is perfect and the drawstrings keep it on well, the hand warmer pockets are effective.
I used it last year in the San Francisco bay area in winter without overheating, as well as snowstorms in Wisconsin :)
The only downside is that for travel, this jacket obviously doesn't pack down small-- I just carry it on the plane and hold it in my lap.
I definitely recommend this jacket to friends!

Rated 5 out of 5 by NewNorthCarolinian Zip carefully!
We recently moved to North Carolina from Iowa, and I gave away ALL my heavy winter coats!! Discovered I did indeed need a winter coat, and purchased this in teal. I LOVE it! Yes, the zipper is a little bit tricky, but you just have to hold the bottom. It is perfect for the North Carolina winter, as we get frequent rain. It actually feels lightweight to me for how warm it is- love the deep pockets and the hood. Highly recommend this coat.

I am a size 14, I purchased a size Large in the longer length coat and the fit is perfect! I have long arms and the sleeves are perfect also. The zipper, as mentioned by others, can be a pain, just takes patience. I bought this to replace a similar coat and the only thing I really don't like is the fleece in the hood. I would have preferred just material or a little quilting...fleece tends to flatten hair!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Parmathule The almost nearly perfect coat
I read all the reviews about this coat before purchasing it, and almost didn't purchase it because of some negative reviews. Complaints included that it smelled funny and that the zipper was unuseable. I'm very sensitive to odors, but never noticed one. As for the zipper, it just takes a little practice, and then it's a cinch (hold both sides firmly from the bottom while pulling up). Some said the zippers on the pockets scraped their hands, but I haven't found that to be a problem. I'm glad to have the zippers so as to be able to secure things from falling out (although the pockets are nice and deep, so that's not a big worry either). And I love the little inside pocket at upper chest level, which also zips closed!
Some have complained that the coat, because of the material it's made of, is a little noisy. Okay, that's true when your arms are swinging back and forth. It's not a big deal for me, and if you put your hands in your pockets, problem solved!
The issue of sizing is always nerve-wracking. I took a chance and got an extra small petite, which turned out to be perfect for sleeve length and fit. I'm 5'2" and 115 lbs. I had hoped for the overall length to be closer to my knees, but it's just a couple inches below my fingertips with my arms down. Still, it's better coverage than a jacket in rain. And the sleeves have a little internal flap gizmo at the wrist which keeps cold air out--nice!
I bought the coat in black and am happy with that choice. The only other color I considered was toasted almond, as I prefer subdued colors. In the end I liked the fact that in black the sewing details didn't show up as much (pockets, waist cincher channel thingy, etc) so that the coat can look a little more dressy. Dirt will be less of a problem, too--but cat fur more of a problem!
I plan to take this coat with me when I travel to Scandinavia. I will probably not need it all the time, but it's very lightweight and compact so even traveling with only one carry-on bag as luggage, I expect to manage with the help of a "flat pack" compressible clothing bag.
This coat is very warm, and totally waterproof. I live in the high desert and it gets COLD here. This winter has been particularly wet, too. This coat has served me well.
My one and only complaint is that the hood is too small. That is a big bummer for me, since, for instance, if my hair is in a bun, a lot of my head is exposed (the hair taking up some of the hood space). It seems like a child-sized hood on a coat meant for adults. Very strange. But I'm not sorry I bought the coat. Only sorry that it couldn't have been closer to perfect with a normal sized hood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by purplepower worth getting!
bought this coat in the 'real violet', as i use it for hiking and especially dog walking, so i can be seen. this is certainly a great buy...it is totally waterproof... found that out already; very comfortable to wear; fabulously large pockets; zippers on inner and outer pockets; cozy hood with adjustment. what's not to like?

I ordered my usual size of PS and the fit is good. I ordered the teal blue and love the color! Have had compliments. It is not as warm as I had hoped but with an extra layer it's fine. The zipper is a bit of a pain but can be done with practice and patience. I would recommend this coat in spite of the minor drawbacks. I prefer the longer length in cold weather.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Eleanorej Mostly happy, after agonizing decision!
I've read many reviews before deciding to buy. I was most confused on the zipper, fit and warmth. Here's what I've learned:
ZIPPER - Several reviewers offered hints (Thank You). Key "hint" into search bar. The most important thing is to make sure that the top zipper and bottom zipper are lined up and held together first. Next, I lift the 2 sides up toward me and while still holding the left side together, guide the right side all the way thru both zippers with my right hand. It's very important that the right side goes all the way thru both zippers. Then I let both sides drop down. Lastly, I hold the bottom right side of the coat firmly with my right hand, and pull the zipper up with my left hand. This works every time and only takes a minute, once you get use to it.
FIT - I'm PM, 5' and 150lbs. Not skinny, broad shoulders. some reviewers said that this is sized to go over a midweight layer, so if you size up it will look boxy. I can wear 2 layers under the PM and still have freedom of movement. I can add a third layer, but it's more restrictive. If I had sized up, it would have been way too big! The bottom of the coat is very roomy - seems to have a pear-shape cut. Cinching the waist helps, but if you cinch too much the back poofs out. If you want a perfect look, this is not it! Thankfully, the sleeves are roomy. Nothing more frustrating than not being able to layer because the sleeves are too narrow. They are a little long (always a problem for me), but I just fold them back a little. See jacket version for a picture of inside cuffs. It's light-weight. I have this on for 45 minutes when at grocery store. It's not too heavy, and I can still stretch and reach.
WARMTH - The longer length keeps me warm in the cold car. Kept me warm while shoveling in 30 some temp. have not tried in colder weather yet. Makes a little noise, but that's because it really is wind and water-proof.
WASHING - Had a chemical smell when I took out of bag, but that disappeared quickly even before washing. Also had wrinkles. Washed as per instructions and it washed beautifully and came out wrinkle-free!
TOASTED ALMOND - was true to my monitor. I'm an "autumn", so this is a good basic color for me - I love it! Fur is dark gray-taupe.
BOTTOM LINE - I wanted a longer-length coat for running errands. It had to be warm, hooded, water-proof, lightweight, machine washable, and allow for freedom of movement. This fits the bill! Just wish it had a better shape!

Rated 2 out of 5 by oneda Defective Zipper; Poor Overall Quality
I was looking for a warm winter coat and had hoped the problems documented by previous reviewers had been resolved regarding the zipper and overall quality. I was disappointed to find out that the coat I received had similar problems. The exterior of the coat was stiff and made a rustling, crinkling sound every time I moved. I was also unable to get the waist drawcord tightened with an evenly distributed appearance in the back. The bottom of the zipper did not line up properly and got stuck every time I attempted to use it. I realized over time that this would be a constant frustration and not what I wanted to deal with on an ongoing basis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by baywalker2 Much better than reviews
I don't know what the fuss is all about with the zipper. I didn't find it hard at all to zip - just takes a extra second, as one reviewer said. I had owned the jacket but wanted the extra coverage of the coat - which is longer. Bottom part of coat is not lined with fleece as the top and hood are. But it keeps the coat from being too heavy I suspect and it does seem warm enough without that....The jacket is perhaps cuter with its shorter length, but I think in rain I'll wear the coat more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DelicateMagnolia Love my new coat
I live in SC and we just had a very cold week. Being a Southerner, the cold can be tough on a delicate Magnolia like myself. This coat has carried me through. All I had to do was zip up my coat, put up my hood and I stayed toasty warm. All my friends asked where I purchased it. It looked very nice, was warm and waterproof.
