There are so many great things about this coat I hated to return it but it was just too much to spend for an item that wouldn't be fully functional for me. The Blue Jay/Aegean Blue combination is gorgeous and I hope it's offered in the future. I loved the liner. In fact, if it were offered separately I would buy it in an instant. Soft, comfortable, warm with a multitude of pockets and elastic in the cuffs to keep the cold out and eliminate concerns about length.
Unlike some buyers I had no problem with the zippers and even with the pit zips the jacket was comfortable. BUT two elements drove me nuts. One was the short front coupled with the wide shape of the shell. I'm 67 and not particularly vain, but I could tell I'd be spending all my time tugging the front down not to mention in a driving rain most of my front would have been soaked. The other is the sleeve length. Even in a petite they were too long and the stiff Velcro tab just didn't work. I suppose it would help if there were a keeper like belts have to put the excess under, but tightening the sleeve up left me with this stiff tab sticking straight out and hitting something whenever I turned around.
I wish LL Bean would return to the old-style elastic at the back of the sleeve coupled with a soft fabric Velcro strip. I have one very old Gore-Tex Paclite that isn't even a petite but works just fine thanks to that sleeve design.
So overall I loved the color, the fabric, the multitude of pockets and the quality of construction. I just wish I could have felt comfortable wearing it.

Rated 2 out of 5áby wuzwyld too short in the front...
I really wanted to love this coat. I just got it a few days ago in the Perrywinkle Wisteria Purple. I'm a petite women that stands a whole 4'8" and I got a petite coat and the front of the coat hangs too short even for me, makes me look like i'm about 3 months pregnant. Not the look i'm going for. The colors of the coat are very pretty and I wish it wasn't so short in the front. I didn't have any problem with the zippers as some people have had issues with them. I noticed the teeth of the zippers is on the inside guessing that was to keep it water proof. Also with this coat if I have the hood attached to it I cannot zip it all the way up if I wanted to, I can if I detach the hood.. Odd.. also if I tuck the hood away the collar is way to stiff for my liking. so unfortunately I will be contacting LLBean to send this coat back. I'm so disappointed I was really hoping this coat was gonna work out for me. Back to the drawing board to find a coat to fit me properly, being short in a tall world isn't easy.

I guess the lesson here is never to buy a short coat. I invested in the better quality of a multi-layered LLBean weatherproof jacket after my generic faux-Goretex coat from another store finally wore out, but it's just not a warm coat at all. I haven't been out in it in really bad weather, but I trust that the weatherproof aspect is fine. It just doesn't feel warm at all. I've worn it a lot and aside from the length I can't say why I'm always cold in it, but there it is.
Also, the elastic at the wrists is only almost a good idea -- it gets caught on my watch or anything else on my wrist, and then gets stuck. All in all, an expensive mistake.

Rated 2 out of 5áby NJ70 Good deal but BAD zipper
This is a warm jacket, fits well, and is a 3 for 1 deal. Plus there are ventilation zippers in the arms! I REALLY wanted to like the jacket and wore it for several months before returning it. I'm a big fan of LL Bean quality and design and buy from them for their no holds barred return policy. The zipper in this jacket made it so difficult to zip and unzip I had to return it. The zipper also made the neck of the jacket uncomfortable when fully zipped and was impossible to zip or unzip with gloves on. I live in central NH so put this jacket through the full cold and outdoor test. Unfortunate that this zipper was such a design flaw.

Rated 3 out of 5áby altraveler Great liner jacket, HUGE outer shell
Pros: The liner jacket is very thin, but incredibly warm and nicely fitted. The burgundy color is lovely. Lots of great pockets. The surface of the jacket is slick and very thin, looks like it would rip easily, but is very stylish. Would be better if they added a stowable hood as the hood on the outer jacket is not insulated.
Cons: The outer jacket is stiff and HUGE! It is cut in a strange rectangular shape, like a refrigerator box. Even the arms have lots of excess material - makes me look like a linebacker. The hood is also huge; when I put it up it came down to my chin - not good for visibility. The jacket has cinch cords at the bottom to adjust the fit, but when I did so, I looked 9 months pregnant because it caused the excess material around the waist and chest to pooch out. Not a good look. On the other hand, when zipped together, the jacket was totally windproof and waterproof.
Unfortunately, will be sending this one back - wish they would adjust the cut of the outer jacket to match that of the inner jacket - would be perfect.

I'm a loyal LL Bean customer. I had their storm chaser 3-in-1 rain jacket for years, but due to a venting issue, I returned it recently and exchanged it for the storm chaser 3-in-1 jacket. I only gave this jacket three stars because of the fit, but those could go up pending I can try it out in cold weather and get a jacket that fits properly.
My previous jacket was a size small jacket and fit pretty perfectly. I decided to order my new jacket in a misses small. I'm pretty petite by nature (5'1''#, but due to not having a petite jacket the first time I didn't order petite.
When I received the jacket #deep wisteria#, the jacket was just as advertised. When I tried the jacket on it was HUGE. The sleeves were extremely large and the jacket was rather wide.
I wound up contacting LL Bean's customer service department and let them know the situation and they suggested I order a petite small in the jacket, which I did the other day. I should be receiving my jacket next week sometime.
I can't comment about whether the jacket is good in cold weather, as I haven't used it. I'm starting to regret sending back my discontinued jacket because if the petite small doesn't fit, I'll have to send it back and ask for a refund, which will make me pretty disappointed.

Nice and stylish 3 in one coat. Granted we do not get the real bitter cold winters in Texas, but this a great jacket for them. The raincoat is nice a nice looking coat that can be worn almost year around. The inner lining is warm and makes a cute jacket. Together they are very warm, wind and rain proof.
Been getting a lot of compliments on the coat.

Rated 5 out of 5áby LLBeanCustomer111 Perfect!
I bought this jacket for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and ice skating. I wanted a jacket to insulate me from the outside cold and wind, to repel moisture and to allow excess heat and perspiration to escape. This jacket does all these perfectly!
The outer shell is waterproof and easily detachable when not needed. It has 2 lateral zippers, which, when open, allow core venting through mesh holes while still being able to benefit from the waterproof shell - something I found extremely useful while snowshoeing in a mild sleet.
The inside liner has enough insulation to keep me warm during 3-hour long outings at temperatures between 20 - 30 degrees while snowshoeing or cross-country skiing (with the outer shell on and off - depending on the intensity of physical activity). However, I do not think it would be warm enough for walking the dog in the same weather conditions - I believe it is geared specifically for winter sports.
Another very useful thing for me: the jacket has several pockets inside and outside so I can stay organized and have the things that I need often handy.

Rated 4 out of 5 Mostly great...
I'm a Minnesota walker, so warmth and wind protection matter. In those categories, this jacket combo works as advertised. In addition, there are features I really appreciate:
* OUTER SHELL ADJUSTABLE CUFFS
Velcro pull-tabs make it possible to get sleeve over bulky gloves and to tighten easily (with gloves on) - no wind gaps!!
* INNER SHELL POCKETS
A nice variety of zipped and elasiticized exterior and interior pockets
BUT...there are a few things that I don't like about the OUTER SHELL:
* Outer shell is STIFF. Perhaps wear and washings will improve this?
* Outer shell zippers are STIFF and really hard to zip up and down - all of them. By the time I get the shell sleeve pocket unzipped to get at my cell phone, I've missed the call. I don't want to stick my cell in the hand pockets even though getting at them would be easier (still zipped and stiff, though). This has not eased with use (I've been wearing this daily for 2 months now), but again, perhaps washing will help.
I need a scarf with this jacket - the neck on both the inner and outer gap a bit. But overall, the jacket seems sturdy and is warm enough for 10 degrees and above, and it is quite comfortable to move in. The ability to layer is nice, and a medium (I'm 120 lbs, 5ft-3in) leaves me room for a sweater underneath without feeling crowded.

This jacket is quite simply the coldest one that I have ever worn. Despite having on a sweater I couldn't get warm in this jacket. It feels like a layer of cold plastic is being held against you. I'll be returning this to Beans and finding a better jacket.
