My wife has worn this watch for years and it has been dependable and with the warentee by LLbean you can not get a better deal on a watch. My wife has a gold one and a silver one and loves tehm both

I have worn this watch nearly every day for about the past 15 years. The gold plate still looks completely new and the watch runs accurately. The face is easy to read. I have never worn the watch in the water, but it has gotten a bit banged up on occasion and is still running fine. Replacement bands are easy to get from LL Bean. I would recommend this watch wholeheartedly!

Maybe I should wait to review this but...here's how it stands now. Just recieved this item for Christmas (have the same watch w/ a black face which I had gotten last year). My first reaction was the leather band did not seem quite as good quality as the one from last year and I was proven correct when I put it on. The band squeaks and creaks any time I twist my wrist or touch the watch making annoying sqeaking noises! I was going to return it but then decided to wear the watch hoping it would "break in" but unfortunately it did not. Even after giving it a second chance and wearing on New Years, the band still squeaks, creaks and makes noise. Will contact customer service and inquire into a replacement hoping this is a fluke. Let's hope, otherwise it's a nice watch. Will keep you posted.

I had the gold plated watch for many, many years (22, I think) until it finally wore out. I had changed the bands many times until I finally got a metal stretch one. The watch kept perfect time, was comfortable to wear and attractive to wear. I intend on replacing it, just haven't gotten around to it. It's the only watch I will buy.

Great watch very durable and easy to read. I ruined the bad and LLBean sent me a new band for a very reasonable price. The leather is very confortable

I am on my second field watch in less than 2 years. The watch face is big and sturdy but this poses a problem: it catches on sweaters etc. when taking things on and off. I lost my first watch after this had happened several times. LLbean graciously sent me a new one!!! The second one, however, had a similar problem, this time it was the part of the strap that broke, and there are no straps currently available from Bean. It is not as easy as you think to get a new watch strap. So sadly, I can't give this product a great review. It needs a stronger strap to go with the heavy duty watch.

I've had this watch about 5 years now, and I can honestly say it's the best watch I've ever had. I wear it for sports, specifically horseback riding. You wouldn't think that would be a problem, but after riding I always give the horse a bath, so the watch gets moist from sweat and wet from the bath. This combination has killed other watches, but this one is 100% reliable. I just wish they'd had the blue and white faces when I bought it!

i have owned this watch for over 20 years and it works just as good today as when I bought it. I replace the battery every year and that is it. I am a sports person and I am pretty hard on a watch, but this one takes the abuse, no problem. If you want a watch forever, this would be the one I would recommend.

With several reviewers mentioning the face size, I was curious as to what I'd receive. What arrived was a watch in the size I usually wear, which I'd describe as an "in-between" or unisex size - not your typical tiny women's watch, nor your large, bulkier men's watch.
For reference, the face is 1" in diameter, and is clear and easy to read (I ordered the white face). The casing and strap are obviously made of high quality materials. My mother liked mine so much, she had me order one with a blue face for her!
Very happy so far with this purchase.
