This is a soft, beautiful blazer with a classic style. Although I use LL Bean extensively for sport clothes and home products, I do not usually purchase more stylish items. In this case, I needed a brown toned blazer and took a chance. I am very happy with this beautiful jacket and know I will have it for a long time. It is warm, luxurious to the touch, fits well, and looks sleeker than the photo.
I usually take a size 6, but purchased the 8 petite because I have short arms. The size is just about perfect on me.

This is a beautiful jacket. Very good quality and classy. Unfortunately it runs small, perhaps because it is tailored. I usually wear a 16 with big bust but had to return and order a size 18. I agree with the other reviews that label on the sleeve has to be removed very carefully with a seam ripper. The blue is a lovely shade. It is quite heavy so would be good for cool spring days.

I ordered this jacket in a size 18P. Sadly, it runs small across the shoulders and was too tight and I've had to return this for a refund. It is a lovely jacket and the fabric is soft and wonderful. I bought it in the color black and it was truly stunning and very sharp looking indeed. Oh well!

I don't know what happened, but clearly the label on the sleeve was supposed to be tacked on, as these sorts of labels ALWAYS are, and yet it is machine sewn on as if it is supposed to remain on the sleeve! I thought previous reviewers complaining about this were being dramatic. They were not. It is extremely difficult to remove this label without damaging the fabric of the sleeve! The back vent is properly tacked. The pockets are sewn shut in the normal manner. But that label! Crazy hard to get off.
Once it was removed, it's a really nice blazer. The collar is a tiny bit itchy and could be improved it it was lined with something smooth against your neck, but the cut is nice, the pockets are nice, the fabric is heavy and perfect for winter. Would be a five star review if not for the silly label!

I bought the black one and the plum, but it was a little more on the red plum than purple plum side that my screen shows, so I returned that one and kept the black. The plum was nice color but just not on me. I used a reading light, tiny seam ripper, and reading glasses and was very careful, patiently, lovingly - so the label came off pretty quickly with no harm. The jacket is well worth it. Classic jacket, beautiful fabric, soft. I'll wear this all winter. Hope you offer a dark or medium gray this year too. I'm typically a XL or PXL in shirts and jackets. I ended up with an 18 PXL to have room for turtleneck underneath. Love the cut, fit, color, everything! Classic, will love for meetings at work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 370Z Total excellence in this classic, timeless blazer.
This classic blazer is excellent in styling (a hint of a riding jacket); workmanship especially with the slightly fitted flow in the sides and back; perfect shoulder, sleeve and hem length. Actual working buttons on the cuffs! A timeless, affordable piece for a tailored lady's wardrobe. Any wrinkles fall out easily. Naturally the wool blended fabric is a tad itchy, however the inner lining is luxurious and detailed. What a delight to button all front buttons in a tailored jacket. No strain. The sizing is generous and true to fit even over a sweater and shirt. I feel it is better the fabric is more a tweed (smoother) than a true dressy/suit boucle, which would have been easy to snag and limiting the classic, traditional casual look I prefer. As for the tag on the sleeve: take the time, in good lighting, work patiently from the top of the tag to lift the stitching and snip. Use a device very small, pointed and meant for seams or tight stitching as this. It takes only a dew snipes to start the unraveling of the tag from the jacket. No harm to the jacket.
I look forward to receiving the next one in black. Enjoy or at least try this item, especially if you are one to be less fashion trendy. It is the staple in a classic ladies wardrobe. Always proper and appropriate unless a formal affair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AthenaAlso Extremely pleased with this great-fitting blazer!
This blazer is everything I hoped for. I sorted out my petite sizing with my earlier purchase of the solid black in this traditional style blazer which I'm so pleased to see being offered again. This makes me very happy since, although I haven't worn my late-'90s navy blue LL Bean blazer for years, I only recently gave it up. My body is pear-shaped and I found the styling to be very flattering.
I would not call the fabric bouclé since it's closer to a tweed than knobby which again makes this blazer a classic wardrobe staple.
The slanted chest pocket is a nice touch and the pocket flaps complement the classic styling, as do the horn buttons. The four buttons on each sleeve are more than "window dressing" and slide easily into and out of their buttonholes. Though truly unneeded they speak to the attention to detail.
I esp appreciate the contrasting piping inside where the lining meets the wool fabric.
The brown tweed effect will look great with traditional blue denim jeans and fit in well with my pants of various browns. It would look good with reds, also.
Since I sew I had no qualms about ordering since a previous reviewer gave a heads up on removing the oddly-positioned label with a seam ripper. For those interested in the solid colors, my black blazer was free of that addition.
I have no criticisms to level but will note one little oddity I encountered while pressing my blazer, the presence of what seemed more like bits of cellulose than wool fibers within the weave. They were "extremely few" and may be artifacts from the manufacturing of the fibers used and certainly nothing to call a flaw.
To sum it up, I saw so much potential in this blazer that I picked it up quickly during a 10% off promotion to be sure of getting my size. My gift cards, promo coupon, and current LL Bean Visa credit made it an excellent buy.

Loved the jacket. I must have a "boxed figure" because it fit me perfectly. I agree that the tag on the sleeve could be placed in a better place. I would advise anyone trying to remove it to purchase a good seam ripper from a fabric/sewing store. I have one and the tag came off without a mishap. This really is a great jacket. Hopefully LLBean will have it again this fall. I would like to order a couple more colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mathchef The jacket I have been looking for for years
Thank you Bean! Finally you have brought back a classic heavy wool blazer. I bought several similar blazers from Bean many years ago and my black one was showing wear at the sleeves. I have tried to replace it for several years, but could not find anything similar until now. Wish it came in more colors. Some other reviewers complained that it was a bit "boxy" in shape. Well, hey, some of us are a bit boxy in shape. It fits me well. It is heavy weight and very warm. Very happy.
