Rated 3 out of 5áby bryanketter This jacket is one size to big
I wear a medium. My shirts are mediums, my underwear are mediums and my jackets are mediums, this coat is marked a medium, but the body of the jacket is a large or bigger. The arms are normal sized, but my wife stood next to me and was able to zip us both into the jacket. Perhaps the designer drinks a bit too much New England craft beer, but he must remember that not all humans have 13 inch biceps and 44 inch stomachs, least of all people who buy technical-active jackets. I like the basics of the jacket, and am exchanging it for a small, but am not happy about the 6.50 that I have to pay for this return. This is clearly a poor design.

Rated 4 out of 5áby northbynoreaster Nice jacket: warm & comfortable.
Well-fitting (XLT) isn't paunchy in the middle as in some of the other reviews, so that's a matter of quality control, apparently. Seams pucker a bit around the zipper but otherwise it is well made except for those weird loose-hanging pockets that should have been covered by the fleece lining. Correcting those defects and offering it in charcoal would have earned it 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Hoge Wool technical jacket
I got this a month ago in XXL Tall and am impressed with the quality and value. However, it is slightly tight in the shoulders and arms. I wear a 52XL coat so am larger than the average man. It fits well enough and looks sharp... Think it is destined to be a favorite.

My wife bought me this coat for Christmas as a dress coat, I ended up liking it so much that I bought another one for hunting / casual. This coat is warm and durable. The only downside to the coat is that it has narrow sleeves, making layering difficult. Overall my favorite coat!

Not much wool for a wool coat. Lining 100% polyester. Shell 40% wool, 40% polyester, 20% nylon (or something like that, but for certain 40% wool). Fit was tight in the shoulders. The arms were to long. Often coats are long in the sleeves on me, but this was even longer than normal. As a coat, it was more like a pull over in thinkness (maybe a little thicker).
With that said, if I could stand the feel feece, I would have considered keeping it, and having the sleeves tailored (mother in law is good at that).
Was an interesting design, and appeared to be a quality product, I just would not consider if a wool jacket. Had to send it back.

Rated 4 out of 5áby JGD9 Excellent outdoor coat
I've owned this coat about two years. It is nice enough that you can wear it casually to work, but it also functions as my preferred winter shotgunning coat.
The wool is soft and is enhanced by the microfleece. The coat is warm, and I comfortably wear it when it is under 40 degrees. I've worn it in 20 degree weather, but you definitely need to layer in those situations. The wool does pill after awhile, but that's easily remedied with a little care.
The front cargo pockets are generous enough that I can comfortably fit a box of 12 gauge shells in them when I go out to the range. The chest pockets are useful for carrying extra ear plugs or a pair of sunglasses; they're also designed in a way that whatever you're carrying in them won't get crushed when you shoulder your gun. The hand pockets are placed higher than a normal coat so that you can cradle a gun while keeping your hands warm.
Other reviews are spot on when they say the sleeves are narrow. Again, I find this is helpful when I'm wearing this at the range because it makes it easier to shoulder the shotgun. So to me, that's a benefit. It does make it hard to layer, though. The solution was to order a size up, which means it is no longer form fitting in the body, but it does allow for easier layering.
Overall, this is a very practical jacket. If you're going to use it just for a car coat, there may be better options, but if you might also use this at the range, I recommend it.

Rated 3 out of 5áby shopperD sizing issues
Bought several of these as Christmas gifts with mixed results on the sizing. Shoulders and arms seem to run a bit small. Bottom line: out of 5 ordered, I am returning 2. I can usually get the size of anything from LL Bean right using their sizing advice and inputs from reviewers, but this one was a challenge. I like the texture of the wool and the placement of the pockets. I caveat my recommendation by saying you will be pleased with this jacket if you are willing to take some risk on size and possibly have to exchange. Better still, if you are close enough to a Bean store, try one on first.

Great jacket! Bought for my son in a large. He's a true large thru the shoulders and sleeve length. His brother is a medium and it fit fine.
Great jacket, nice weight. Waiting on size exchange. Customer service extremely helpful. Let you know how size swap goes. Thank you LL Bean!

4 stars for quality and general fit but 1 star because the reviews were correct. Great coat, great fit except for the sleeves. I don't think I could get another long sleeve garment (for layering) on underneath. It's going back, darn.

Rated 4 out of 5áby mkoutdoors Good coat weird size
Coat seemed well made but everything was a large tall size but the abdominal part. If you are a large belly man it would be good but looked like bell on me.
