This is a copy of the the old Loveless drop point knife which is an icon in the hunting knife world. Schrade made an excellent copy years ago of the same knife as the original hand made Loveless knives were hard to find and out of sight price wise. Since the USA Schrade company went out of business the name has been bought by another company and now Schrade knives are made in China. While this knife has a fair steel (440 A) which keeps a decent edge and is easy to sharpen and the handle is cocobola wood the brass guard was uneven and not matching. Poor quality control and should have never left the supplier in China. Another company has the same knife (minus the LL Bean logo) and it is probably made in the same factory in China for $35. The leather sheath is adequate but that's about all. As a knife collector I have a number of old LL Bean knives from years gone past and while they are of simpler manufacture they were useful tools and well priced. I sent it back and would not recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Tannersdad Nice knife
This is a very good knife for the money. Blade came sharp and is very good quaility. Blade is thick with plenty of backbone. Sheath is actually a heavier leather than I expected and fits the knife well.
Very pleased with this product, as always.

Rated 5 out of 5áby CharlesL previous review of Hunter knife
In my previous review, I said that even though the knife is great, the scabbard did not fit. Upon further fiddling, I found that when the hilt was also inserted, it fits fine. My apology to LL Bean. Perhaps if the knife was shipped in the scabbard in the proper position, even idiots like me could figure it out.

Rated 4 out of 5áby CharlesL Double L Hunter knife
The knife itself is great, but the scabbard looks like it belongs to another knife- it's 3' too long and the belt loop is 3' too short. Also, I'm afraid that the knife will fall out of this ill-fitting scabbard. Not what I would have expected from LL Bean

Rated 5 out of 5áby Portola Great value - fits well
This fixed blade knife feels really nice in my hand. I've been amassing quite a collection of knives of all kinds...probably for my grandsons. For me appearance, quality, feel are the measures of value. This knife rates 4.5 stars. It would be a full 5 stars if it were a collector's piece... Good job LLBean.

The quality of this item is very disappointing, certainly now what I would expect from LL Bean. The knife feels very cheaply made.

Rated 3 out of 5áby Toucanjack Gift Knife
This item was bought as a gift for a nephew that is new to field sports. The knife is what you would expect at the price point, is well made, good styling and is more than adequate to perform in the field.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Shopper159 Great Quality Knife
This is a great knife and a great deal. The "snap less" design of the sheath is perfect for me. Knife fits perfectly in the sheath. This is a very sturdy (thick) knife that IMO is more practical than the traditional thin-blade hunting knife. Great feel in my hand. I'm looking at the knife now and there are no flaws whatsoever. Really impressive for a Taiwan-made knife. I highly recommend this knife.

Rated 5 out of 5áby huntergirl Great Knife!
Wanted a smaller knife than the one I had, but not a folding knife. Wanted a full tang for durability and strength. This is a beautiful knife, heavier than I expected and perfect for wearing on my belt during deer season. Good blade width and length. The wooden grip fits my hand perfectly and is very well made. The leather sheath is thick and tough. Although both the knife and sheath have the LL Bean logo (I'm not a logo person), they are tastefully and discretely done. Wish it was American-made, but still very pleased.

Rated 4 out of 5áby DocxRon Great knife for a great price
This knife is very beautiful and is made of a good quality steel. It holds its edge well and fits quite securely in the provided sheath. I can only assume that people who think the sheath is too big are only putting the blade into the sheath when even part of the handle goes in. My only qualm with this despite its great quality and the wonderful LL Bean warranty, is that it is not made in the USA. Other than that though a great knife I will keep around on my belt.
