Rated 5 out of 5 cozy and light as a feather
This is very pleasant to wear as it is so light but the warmth clings to you in such a pleasant way. I feel like a baby chick. I have not had it for long so I don't know if it will snag. I worry a little about it getting wet and then not being warm. And I don't know if it will be enough protection from extreme cold.

This jacket is so soft and comfy, I don't want to take it off!
It is extremely light weight, but keeps me warm in the cold New Jersey weather. Highly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Earthjoy Wonderful for travel, but cut a little tight
The lightest, most packable travel jacket I've found, can be layered under rain wear or over a down vest. Good-looking enough for almost any occasion. Excellent quality.
FIT: Good, but a little too tight across the hips -- this and Bean rain anorak are designed for the young and VERY thin, not enough ease for older customers carrying just a little more weight. Bean gear used to have that ease, older Bean styles in the same size (L) still fit me well . . .

Bean had better keep producing this one -- I have found my "forever" jacket!

I got this coat for Christmas and I Love, Love it. Its light enough to wear to the store and not fill weighed down and also warm enough to wear walking and not get cold. Best coat I have ever owned!!

The jacket is great looking, fits great and is comfortable. Terrific when the temperatures are in the 30s or 40s. Today it was 25 degrees and I was freezing - wearing a sweater underneath. The wind blows right through it. I bought it in October and started wearing it in December. The down has already started to come out. I certainly can't count on it in really cold weather. And if the down keeps coming out, I won't be able to use it at all...

I recently bought this jacket and I had to send it back as it was so inadequate. The fit was fine, but the warmth was just not there. We recently experienced very cold temps. I put on the jacket and walked outside. I could literally feel cold wind coming through the sleeves. And that brings up an important lacking feature of this jacket; no means of tightening cuffs. All of my other LL Bean jackets have tabs and velcro at cuff. What a disappointment. The jacket was sold out when it was on "sale". Then, by some miracle, it became available afterwards. The jacket is not even warm enough in 30 degree weather, let alone below-freezing temps. I am confused as to why others find it warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shopaholic1960 Love it!
This jacket is so light, it's like not having one on.
I wore it when the temperature was in the single digits and kept warm.
I have received numerous compliments.
It is a great coat.

FINALLY.....a warm piece of outerwear that meets the standards of my 17 year old daughter! We have purchased many, many jackets over the years, which she has refused to wear because they were too "poofy" (even the ones she picked out). This jacket is well worth the price: good structure, shape and warmth. It certainly is a winner.....she wears it regularly and does so willingly....what else can a mom ask for!

Love this jacket! I bought it specifically for extended travel next year, and I wanted something light-weight, warm and "packable" without looking like the Michelin Man. What sold me on this jacket was the fact that it packs into its own pouch.
When I received it, I was a bit skeptical about it's warmth because it is SO feather-light. I put it through its paces Christmas week here in NYC, wearing only a long-sleeved t-shirt under it. You'd never know it was 35 degrees and windy - I was toasty!
The suggestion in the catalogue about going up one size if you might wear layers underneath was spot on. I ordered a (women's) large (I normally wear a medium or a 10/12), and is a perfect fit.
My single wish was that it was just a bit longer, perhaps by about six inches. I didn't want to buy the longer version, because this one packs in its own pouch. Other than that, it's perfect, I love it and it'll be a great addition to my travels next year!
Also: I ordered it Christmas morning (Tues.) and received it by Friday.
I would highly recommend this jacket.
