The fit is nice. Not too bulky and a little longer in the back. I usually wear a 10 and medium is a good fit.

Love this coat got navy blue.kept me warm and dry for 2 winters so far I got med and is ok for layering. My favorite thing is its like wearing a pillow and hard to take off. And water proof I would recommend this coat to anyone and not to bulky I am a LL bean lover and have many products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MadgeMay Not Bad, Not Great
Overall, the jacket isn't bad. The color is nice. I like the length; it hits the hips at the right spot. It is comfortable and warm. It is a nice, practical jacket. And with the exception of my one issue, this would be a five-star review. But, the armholes are low, disconcertingly low.
L.L.Bean sizes run large, therefore I had the foresight to order an x-small. The jacket fits reasonably well; it is a little boxy around the shoulders. However, the bottom on the armhole, where the sleeve meets the body of the jacket, should be raised 3 or 4 inches, maybe more. It is weird how low it is. The lowness of the armhole diminishes my love of this jacket, and makes me hesitant to recommend an otherwise great item.

I ordered this jacket at the end of the winter season. Have not had an opportunity to see how warm it is in really cold weather. However, it feels really warm and may be too warm!! Nice fit. Would recommend this jacket.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SimpleGal21 Great coat, poor Plus Size design
I was shopping for a warm winter jacket to wear during pregnancy in our subzero Minnesota weather. Several websites recommended plus size jackets, as there is proportionately more room in the bust and belly. I've worn LL Bean down jackets my whole life, so I was eager to try their version. In true LL Bean quality, this jacket is gorgeous and incredibly warm, for a great price. I wished the version with a hood had been available in my size, but that was not the case when I ordered it in December. I tried so hard to make this jacket work, but it never fit quite right. In particular, the sleeves were awkwardly short. I even ordered different mittens with longer cuffs to make up for the short sleeves, but I was still getting snow and drafts up my wrists. I certainly don't understand why the sleeves were so short -- even my petite-sized mother tried on the coat, and the sleeves were too short on her! So a beautiful and warm down jacket with a bag design, that will now be sent back. I was able to find a windproof and waterproof insert that zips into my regular winter jacket to make that one work.

Rated 3 out of 5 by CoopKen This coat is continually molting!
I will give you that the jacket is warm and has a good collar for zipping up and keeping out the cold...those are the good and surely important points. But the annoyances really have overwhelmed those good points.
The feathers leak out all the time and all over everything...my cloth car seats, my clothing, friends' clothing, etc. I find them flying around in the car, pull them out of my mouth, off the dog's fur, etc... very annoying and certainly not up to LL Bean standards I would not think. I'm actually afraid to wash the coat because I fear all the feathers will fall out! I've had a down parka from another retailer for years and never have had a single problem like this...I just wanted something shorter...and frankly, it's not like the price was so great that it would justify putting up with the inconveniences of this coat.
In addition to the molting issue (and by the way birds molt to shed old plumage and replace it with new feathers but that is not what ishappening here), the sleeve lining always ends up outside the cuff when I put it on so I have to adjust it each time which is also annoying.
Given the numbers of similar complaints about this coat I would think LL Bean, known for its exemplary customer service, would do something about this situation for its customers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MWLWRITE Warm but Leaks Feathers
The title says it, but as a longtime fan of LL Bean, I was a little disappointed: Feathers escape the shell. I'll still wear the jacket -- it's warm and comfortable, but the seams probably could be better crafted -- or something -- so the little feathers stay inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by donnawis great jacket for the price
I purchased this jacket at a ll bean store in Skokie Illinois yesterday. Glad I got to try it on first as I usually take a large, but I ended up taking a xl. I'm 5'5 160lbs. I wore it this morning for about 4 hours shoveling snow and just working out side. The wind did not go through it and it kept me warm. I live in Wi. so the temps here are cold yet in the early morning and it was windy. I had a turtle neck and sweatshirt underneath. No trouble with feathers and no trouble getting it on or off as with other reviews. Love this jacket for the price!
