Rated 5 out of 5 by bville3 Measure your shoulders and get help
This is an exceptionally flattering fleece coat, but carefully check your shoulder measurements first and get help with choosing the right size. I normally take a small in LL Bean styles, but after reading the other reviews about tight shoulders and upper sleeves, I used the chat feature. Customer service measured the shoulders for me. The small in the wine shade is 15.5 inches across the top. Measuring two other garments of my own, one that was too tight, and one that fit well, determined that I should order up a size, especially because I layer sweaters underneath. Unlike another reviewer I think the internal waist adjustment is an elegant solution and I don't notice it. Very soft, comfortable, warm without suffocating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Faire I'm in love with everything about this jacket
It's so lightweight, comfortable, flattering, and I can just throw it in the wash! I just love the blue/green color, and the high thigh length, it's so flattering on me and so well made, this one is probably going to last at least a decade! It's got the nice brass grommets for the interior waist drawstring and deep and handy pockets. This coat is just right for wearing under a big trench coat for extra warmth in the mean parts of winter, or for wearing all alone as a jacket/sweater/coat. Button closure ( never have to worry about the zipper malfunctioning) cozy hood, I love everything about it. It's awesome. I can wear it over dressy night out clothes, or I can wear it to train the dogs. If the designer reads this, let me just say, "thank you very much!!"

Rated 2 out of 5 by Robin50 Nice quality, but fit and fabric disappointing
The fabric and fit of this coat sadly did not work out for me. I am 5' 8", with a large frame, smaller waist, average bust, and wider hips and shoulders. I ordered the XL in brown. The length is great, came to the top of my knees, but though the coat is form-fitting I felt frumpy in it for some reason. The sleeves, though plenty long, were not as full as I like and were difficult to tug on over what I wore beneath, so the sleeves of a blouse, for instance, would ride up. Bleh! Also, the color is very rich, and the fabric is warm, but the only the interior of the coat is what I consider to be fleece; the exterior is a smooth almost foamy-looking appearance. I think another reviewer said she thought it seems like neoprene and I understand what she means. Because of this fabric type, the elbow area of the sleeves begins to get fold impressions that stay in the fabric and I think this cheapens the appearance. I also found that the collar and shoulder area rode back and I was constantly tugging it forward, which would eventually drive me crazy. So - I guess it's just not the right fit for me. It is a beautiful quality though and because of Bean's excellent return policy I would say give it a try; it might work for you.

I have had mine since 1997 and it has held up very well.
Enjoy wearing it when its Early Spring or Fall. Here in
Maine it makes the perfect coat to wear when shopping
and you go out and its about 40-45 F.
I recommend getting one of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CoolChick Flattering and Cuddly coat
I've been looking for a fleece coat after seeing many people wearing hooded fleece coats from that TV Sales network. Their coats look very matronly, but this coat is light, warm and extremely flattering. I bought the raspberry in a S petite. I don't understand the reviews saying this runs small in the shoulders. I used the online chat and they told me that the S petite is 16 in. It fits perfectly-coat runs TTS. I love the drawstring inside because it allows me to make the coat even more flattering. The hood does appear to be a bit deep, but if I'm wearing the hood, then it's for a good reason, so I want it to stay on there! Love my new coat!

Great fleece jacket....the Raspberry color is beautiful. I am a size 6 - 8 and other Small size coats from LL Bean fit great. This jacket, however is snug on me. I love it so much, that I definitely will order the Medium, and save the Small to give to my slim sister-in-law, who wears a size 4.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Chrissy1 Too Big but probably reliable everyday coat
I ordered the medium in raspberry. Color was good. I am 5'6", 125 lbs and it was too big overall, especially from the waist down. I thought it would be a little straighter/narrower cut. There is a drawstring in the waist if you want to snug it up on a cold windy day. It seems like it would be a good coat that would last a long time - not quite what I was looking for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Travelinkit My new favorite coat!
I moved to Alaska last March and have already adjusted to the climate here. I have the perfect coat for sub zero temps, but my other winter coat is way too warm for those many days when it's much above ten degrees. I've been looking for months and finally decided to order the Kingfield coat in the heathered burgundy. I really like the pink berber inside the hood and cuffs!
For above zero days, I found that my fleece jackets and hoodies were too light, my parka and faux fur coat were too heavy, but this coat is just right! It isn't wind-proof, but the berber fleece inner layer elevates this coat to the top of my list for chilly days. The sleeves can be folded up about an inch, and the coat is long enough to keep my thighs warm but not too long for driving.
I have to agree with other reviewers, the cord for cinching the waist is useless. I am under 5'2" and the channel sits at least an inch above my waistline, if I cinch the waist at all, the coat looks as if it's too small. It isn't enough of an issue to make me return my new favorite coat, though. This is a coat that is really versatile for many months here in the Northern latitudes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ChillyChic Nice Coat!
Just got my coat; I got a Small - it is roomy, the shoulders are a bit big, but it looks/feels nice, and honestly I prefer the option of wearing more clothes underneath if I need to! Sleeves are a good length, and the hood fits well. The Loden Green is a beautiful color. Nice weight, won't be bunchy for driving. This is made like my favorite (very warm) sherpa-lined heavyweight hoodie, but is dressy enough to wear to work, and a plaid scarf will make it look even nicer. Look forward to wearing it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by LLBeanOnMe Kingfield Fleece Coat Hooded
I tried this fleece coat in Petite Small and it didn't sit right on my
105 lbs x 5'.. it was uncomfortable when the hood was on and very bulky in general. I exchanged it to Petite XS and then realized that this coat is not designed for me. The cinch is metallic which adds to the bulk and was not helping to create a flattering waist. The pockets are stuffed on the inside in front of the belly - adds bulk and made me feel as if I am pregnant or bloated. On another note - The Deep Raspberry Heather was a beautiful color and I will try the XS of the Kingfield Fleece Coat with no hood. Buying online is such a gambling game. Besides it requires patience and vision, and the pictures can be so deceiving..
