This is an exceptionally flattering fleece coat, but carefully check your shoulder measurements first and get help with choosing the right size. I normally take a small in LL Bean styles, but after reading the other reviews about tight shoulders and upper sleeves, I used the chat feature. Customer service measured the shoulders for me. The small in the wine shade is 15.5 inches across the top. Measuring two other garments of my own, one that was too tight, and one that fit well, determined that I should order up a size, especially because I layer sweaters underneath. Unlike another reviewer I think the internal waist adjustment is an elegant solution and I don't notice it. Very soft, comfortable, warm without suffocating.

In anticipation of a December trip to San Diego, I was looking for a stylish, long, hooded fleece jacket that I could where anytime and anyplace during our travels on the West Coast. After a broad search. I found the Kingsfield. I thought it would be the perfect solution.
Wow! What a disappointment.
I ordered up a size since reviews indicated shoulders and sleeves were narrow so instead of a petite medium, I got a petite large, because I am the classic pear shape at 5'4 and 140#.
Yes, the shoulders and sleeves were just right, but the rest of the coat was huge. The design incorporates a slight princess styling, but I'd need a lot more chest and hip to fill out the coat in a petite large.
So, if you have narrow shoulders, skinny arms, and a curvy body, you may like the fit of this coat.
Then there were issues of finishing, fabric, color, and texture. The color on my monitor just seemed a little richer than the murky burgundy-maroon I got. The fabric was heavy and coarse...did not have a nice hand. The seams were not tidy. The jacket did not drape nicely.
I am a periodic LLBean shopper and have always liked their quality, but this jacket totally misses the mark for me. It's on its way back to Bean.

Rated 1 out of 5áby MontanaMaggie My first LLBean disappointment
I have been searching for a comfortable but neat (and hooded) fleece jacket for awhile. This jacket was too constricted-feeling and poor-fitting, tight esp in arms. Never mind attempting to layer it. Not a soft and cozy feeling fabric, either. Returning for full refund and will continue my search.

Rated 5 out of 5áby diverdee Beautiful Coat!
I just received the Kingsfield Fleece Coat. I haven't worn it yet due to it being in the 90's in Florida at present, BUT I purchased it for an upcoming trip to Venice, Italy in October. 60's daytime temp in October. It is a beautiful coat! Soooo soft. The color is beautiful. I got the Dark Plum Heather. I'm also a petite size. So hard to find clothes in petite. Looking forward to wearing it in Venice!

Like the color and longer style. It was just too bulky and did not look as nice on as the model in the picture. Usually I find Beans models pretty accurate but this just did not have a nice shape to it. Also since there was no lining of any sort, it was a little scratchy.

Feels great, seems to be just the right weight I was after. I like the length. I'm about 5'4" and got the petite. It is dressy looking but at the same time is casual enough to be worn with most anything.

When the very bad winter weather is over, a transitional coat is needed. I can never decide whether to wear my lightweight down coat or my fleece jacket when the weather starts warming up. The down coat does not have a hood but it's lightweight and warm enough and covers my hips. The fleece jacket has a hood and bit more lightweight the down, but doesn't cover my hips. The Kingfield combines the best of both coats. The burgundy color is beautiful. It's lightweight but warm enough. And it covers the hips. It also has a feminine shape and hood and you can roll the sleeves up. The Hood is a bit large, but you can roll it back like the sleeves. I believe this coat is going to become one of my favorites. I have worn it only a few times, but love it already. Bean coats are always good quality. This one is. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5áby NorthWestRose My favorite cold weather coat
I love this coat. I bought the Dark Plum Heather and it is beautiful. It was hard to decide what size to buy after reading several reviews that stated they the coat is sized small. I always take a size small when ordering from LL bean so I went ahead and ordered a small. It is a little snug and I won't be able to wear any bluky sweaters under it. But the coat is so warm that I don't think I would have need to wear a lot ot clothes while wearing this coat. It has a beautiful tailored look and fits perfect... unless I gain weight! I am 5' 4" and weigh 130 and have a small frame on top.

I read the reviews and ordered one size up. Sorry that I did that but don't think I would have been happy with the smaller size anyway. I found this coat bulky, unflattering, and uncomfortable. It does not hang well, the seams both back, sides, and front bunch up somewhat which adds to the bulk and does not allow for a straight line all around bottom..it appears almost scalloped in some way. Maybe if I had ironed it, that might have helped but with the other issues, it's a no go. Sorry LL Bean..I'm returning sadly.

Rated 3 out of 5áby BlueWhale Disappointed in Cut - Good Fabric
I was disappointed in the rather tight and unflattering fit of this coat (I ordered a petite large). It's described as a 'relaxed fit' but it isn't; it's quite FITTED. I bought a couple of these fleece coats (without the hood) size misses medium several years ago and they have a looser fit than the large petite of this coat! They still fit great and look great. I wish LL Bean had not chosen to cut back on the amount of fabric it uses for these coats. The fabric itself is great - it's just the cut that needs to be improved. To the designers: please go back to your old patterns please!
