Rated 5 out of 5 by sealsam1 Hurricane cloth shirt
This is hands down the best shirt for anyone who works and plays outdoors.
I am just now replacing the three I originally purchased 22 years ago. Let this be a good word to you who may be wondering if L.L. Bean quality holds up.

Wow! Have had Hurricane Cloth shirts in the past. I used to love them as the material appeared and performed like one would consider "Hurricane". Just got my new one today and it feels more like a "Morning Dew". Still a quality shirt to wear inside, but to still call it "Hurricane" is decieving.

This is a great lined shirt that is very warm. Very light weight and solid. Fits and wears real good. It needs snap buttons like the Duluth Hanger Bendin Shirt Jacket. Would trade if i could see them side by side. Too much trouble to send back. We have been in retail sales over 68 year because we listen to our customers. Just my thoughts for making this product even better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Artrk Perfect for mild weather
I bought this shirt recently so I can't say what these shirts used to be like, but I can say this is the highest quality and craftsmanship from what else I've seen recently. I just moved to the west coast in Canada and although I'm enjoying the mild weather I didn't have the right clothes for it. So many days I find it too cold to wear just a shirt but much too warm for a jacket. This shirt works perfectly for those days. Keeps me warm and dry when its just a little damp but not really coming down and it looks great. For winter downpours I just throw on my 3 in 1 (without the liner, which is great but too warm for here) and I am perfectly comfortable. Fits me very well for a large, heavy shirt. I will definitely get a couple more of these!

Rated 4 out of 5 by naanstopshredder Great shirt, but sizing is ridiculous
First off, the material and construction of this shirt is exactly what I was looking for. The description on the website is very accurate, and it is a versatile shirt that can be worn in a huge range of temperatures. However, there is nowhere in the description that says how generous the cut is. I am 6'3'', 200 lbs and I ordered a Large Tall, which I figured would be a tight fit. Instead, it fits like a XXL because of how generous the cut is. If you plan to wear this as a shirt and not as a shell over a bunch of puffy coats like most people would, either do some research on what size would actually work or reconsider purchasing it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SanFranGuy Thinner than they used to be.
Got two of these 10 years ago. They've faded but not frayed. They were made in Canada. Thick and sturdy. The new shirts, made in Thailand, are similar but the fabric and the flannel are significantly thinner. Doubt the new ones will last as long.

If you brought this shirt before, I think you will be disappointed. Not the same and not as warm. I will be returning shirt

Rated 3 out of 5 by woodlander Good shirt - could be better
All I can say is: "Please go back to the old formula". I have bought several of these shirts over the years. I wear them as a light weight jacket. I loved the old design. What do you think guys? Can you do it?

Rated 5 out of 5 by KVacek Warm, comfortable, looks nice
I have five of these shirts now - two new and three from a few years back. Bean silently improved the material in the last year or two. Previously, the material had a frosty grey caste to it - apparently the result of some synthetic fiber in the blend?? Anyway, the shirts I bought this year don't have that and yet they feel like the same material, so it's definitely an improvement.
The fit is generous in the body - read baggy - but it's a winter shirt and I suppose some guys wear it untucked, so I can understand. Still, I really don't like baggy fashions and hope that normal-person-shaped shirts come back some day.
One of my old Hurricane Cloth shirts got a spot (food?) on the sleeve. I applied some "Zout" prespotter to the stain - we've been using that stuff for at least 35 years now with no problems - and it washed the color right out of the shirt in just that area. Since the shirt was new at the time, I thought I'd dye it darker to hide the spot, and so I bleached the shirt to try to even up the color first. The flannel lining bleached out to a pastel color, but the outer color remained absolutely untouched. Strange...
Overall, I love these shirts.

After reading reviews, I know that I am not going to get what my husband wants...that heavy cloth shirt with the snaps.
He bought them years ago, loves them to the point where he wears them glue stains and all. He is a woodworker and I am a furniture refinisher and we know how that glue can stick if you don't get right to it.
I will order the "new shirt" and hope that it has improved as mentioned, especially, the more stain resistant feature.
Thank you all for your truthful comments and I will add mine as well ...after the debut!
