If this came in XS or a women's version AND had square-cut hem rather than shirt-tail, it would be my 5-star dream. (It's a jacket. Why the shirt tail?) I have the old flannel-lined one, size S, so I know whereof I speak. I'm a baby-boomer active woman ... there's a market for this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BillOfMontana A heavy warm shirt jacket
This is probably the warmest shirt I've ever owned. Looking to wear this a lot when temps get into single digits and sub-zero.
Probably most will use this as a shirt jacket, but I was able to take some excess material from around the shirttails, and now this tucks into the trousers without looking bulky.

Rated 5 out of 5 by VikingIrish Tough, warm, without being bulky
I've always prefered wearing heavy lined shirts over coats, because of the comfort and freedom of movement they provide. This is only a shirt in name, as it has features you'd expect to find on a heavy duty jacket, built to withstand what ever punishment is thrown its way. With a hat, gloves, and a flannel shirt worn underneath, this shirt-jac kept me warm the time I spent outside during the recent "Polar Vortex". It has hand warmer pockets, is both wind resistant, and water repellent. If you require a product that will help keep you warm and stand up to punishiment without being bulky, this is it. It is definitely the heaviest shirt I own, but is lighter than most jackets. I used my coupons earned, and only paid a few bucks for mine, so I was lucky, but even if you have to pay the full cost, it is money well spent. A really well made product.

If I'm not mistaken, this shirt was originally called a shirt-jac, which is an appropriate description. I purchased it specifically for that purpose. I ordered a large and it fits great. The fleece lining keeps me warm and does help move away moisture. The side pockets come in handy . The canvas seems very durable. A keeper !

I was looking for a new jacket with casual look, yet could wear out in public. I like the hand pockets and the chest pockets. Warmer than I thought. It was sized larger than I had thought. I normally wear a medium, but since I wanted to wear as a jacket; I went with a large. That became a gift and I got myself a medium which fits fine even with thick chamois shirt underneath.

This is a great Shirt-Jac but in my opinion could be perfect If It had an inside pocket and shoulder gussets for freer shoulder movement. I love the hand warmer pockets.

The Shirt Jac fits great over shirts, easy to move in , no pulling or tightness. Has kept him dry in two rainstorms so far. Just wish it was MADE IN THE USA!

I am a female and bought this shirt for myself. I LOVE it is so soft and warm and rugged. It feels like you are wearing quality. I read how the reviews said it was large so I ordered a small. I am 5,7 and 150 lbs it fit perfectly.
I think this will be my new everyday shirt.
I think I want to order all the colors.
LL Bean make a girls version!!!

Purchased one last winter and just bought another last week. These shirts are great. They are warm and durable, also shed light rain. I usually wear them with a long sleeve shirt underneath. Im 5' 10" and 170lbs and wear a medium. You would probably would want a size up if you want to wear a sweater underneath. The snap closer is good and the side pockets are a nice addition. This shirt keeps the chill off and also provides some wind resistance. This product is nice for the fall and early spring or just wearing around the house in the winter months.
