This is a great Shirt-Jac but in my opinion could be perfect If It had an inside pocket and shoulder gussets for freer shoulder movement. I love the hand warmer pockets.

The Shirt Jac fits great over shirts, easy to move in , no pulling or tightness. Has kept him dry in two rainstorms so far. Just wish it was MADE IN THE USA!

I am a female and bought this shirt for myself. I LOVE it is so soft and warm and rugged. It feels like you are wearing quality. I read how the reviews said it was large so I ordered a small. I am 5,7 and 150 lbs it fit perfectly.
I think this will be my new everyday shirt.
I think I want to order all the colors.
LL Bean make a girls version!!!

Purchased one last winter and just bought another last week. These shirts are great. They are warm and durable, also shed light rain. I usually wear them with a long sleeve shirt underneath. Im 5' 10" and 170lbs and wear a medium. You would probably would want a size up if you want to wear a sweater underneath. The snap closer is good and the side pockets are a nice addition. This shirt keeps the chill off and also provides some wind resistance. This product is nice for the fall and early spring or just wearing around the house in the winter months.

My Mother in law Buys me these shirts every year and I love the snap closure as well as the waterproof outer. The shirts are very warm and I wear these shirts as a jacket most of the winter months unless it snows. When I was a volunteer firefighter they really were great as the snap closure made it easy to open and close so it did not slow down the process of putting on my turnout gear. I love the added snaps for the shirt pockets and the new side pockets, I currently own 7 of these shirts. I can't say enough good things about them. I hope L.L.Bean continues to sell them in the future. I wish they would make a women's version because I would like to buy a couple for my wife.

Looks great and very warm, but it is large. I wear it as a jacket instead of a shirt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by virgquest Thick and warm, just not sized for me
Since LL Bean doesn't offer a fleece-lined canvas shirt for women, I tried ordering a small in the men's. Unfortunately, it was too big to keep, but it would have made a great jacket! The layered fabric was heavy and warm, but the lining was soft and snuggly. The colors were very attractive too. Would definitely recommend this shirt for any guy who wants to stay warm and dry on a chilly fall day. Maybe LL Bean will develop a women's version on of these days!

I take back what I wrote about this shirt. I said incorrectly that the canvas on the plaid version of this shirt is not as substantial as in the plain version. It seemed too slick and lighter weight.
After its first washing this shirt felt and performed just like the canvas on the plain version. Sorry for misleading anyone. As long as you don't dislike the fleece substituted for the traditional flannel lining, you will find this canvas just like the traditional material from LL Bean.

Rated 4 out of 5 by StillMissAlaska Not the same cloth as the plain fleece canvas
Here is something pretty bizarre, not typical of LL Bean. When I was unable to find the terrific, traditional flannel lined canvas shirt, I tried the new version with fleece lining.
The solid shirt HAD THE SAME GREAT CANVAS as the old flannel lined version.
THEN, a few months later I thought I'd double down, but get the same Water-resistant Fleece-Lined Canvas Shirt, BUT WITH THE PLAID.
The canvas is not at all the same. Not as thick, not as heavy duty, but a smoother, lighter cloth.
I don't know why in recent years more and more heavy duty cloth like denim and canvas are being "stone washed" or other things that soften and wear out the cloth early, but most guys I know want the firm, substantial heavy duty material when we order a work shirt.
But giving a shirt the same name -- although with a different number because the plain is TA278331 while the insubstantial plaid is TK278883 -- that is strange. Amazingly, the reviews by customers of the two shirts are jumbled together and are indistinguishable. Does LL Bean even realize the canvas is entirely different?
I would give 4 stars to the solid (no flannel !) and a 3 to the plaid, although both seem to be well made if that is what you are looking for.

Excellent. I love them huge. I hate the fact that they are never available. I had to wait a whole year to get a second one. And..... it will be delivered by Sept. 22nd. Today is Sept. 7th. Does not make any sense to me. I understand we are getting close to the winter, and inventory policies and all of that, but this is ridiculous.
