Love this piece. The small depth makes it perfect for an entry way and adds a bit of storage space for keys, etc. Proportions are beautiful. Slightly rugged looking but not TOO rugged. Packaged very well so there is little chance of damage in transport. Delivered exactly when promised. I bought 3 pieces from this set and I'm extremely happy with all of them. But, what else would you expect from L L Bean?

First, the photo is accurate and the description mentions it's made of pine. The top is just slightly more than 1/2" thick. It feels like an inexpensive import, and is not really what I'd expect from L.L. Bean. I was hoping/expecting something heavier, made with reclaimed barn board, for example. This clearly feels like white pine that has been manipulated to have that rough sawn look. We purchased for our entry foyer, but will put it elsewhere.

Rated 3 out of 5 by energy4u Rustic wooden hall console
For the price it is disappointing. All of the stain is medium shade but one top drawer is totally blonde, almost like it was not stained and looks unfinished. Assembly of drawer handles should be quite simple, but this is proving to be a challenge on the top drawers due to design. It is true to size and delivery was very fast. We usually love LL Bean purchases, but this is one just doesn't measure up to usual standards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by libertyfan It looks great in my hallway
I love this hall console! It looks like it was custom made to go by the front door of my small apartment. It did smell when it came out of the box but that went away after a day or two. Also, one of the holes for the handles wasn't exactly in the right place so I had to drill a little bit to get the handle on. I still gave it 5 stars because of how perfectly it fits in the hall.

I like this kind of furniture . I have other pieces.
I understand that it is "one of a kind" ...no two pieces are alike.
But...the top two boards are not flat...therefore objects that you display on top wobble.
Other than that...I love this kind of rustic furniture.

In contrast to the coffee table I purchased, this was well done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by girlcat Beautiful piece of furniture!
My husband and I purchased this for our dinette/entry area in back of our house. It is perfect for the small space we have. We were glad to see it came in the rustic collection since we already have the coffee table and one of the end tables to match it. Looks great!

Very pleased with the rustic look of the console. Sturdy construction. Less varnish odor than the last two pieces. Drawers were a little "sticky."

As I was unpacking this I noticed a crack in the back where a screw attaches the back piece to the frame. I thought of sending it back but it is such a hassle I decided to try to fix it myself. I put some wood glue on it and a clamp. It seems it will hold just fine and since it is on the back and cannot be seen I'm keeping it. The finish is what I expected and the size fits the new description. It looks just like the picture. I am a little disappointed with some of the workmanship, besides the crack I also had to force two of the handles because the holes for the hardware did not quite line up. But with a little handiwork it is fine. The small drawers will hold odds and ends. There is a warning about it being top heavy and possibly tipping and I would agree that the warning needs to be heeded. Overall I like it because it is what I needed in the space and I like the look, but the workmanship could be a bit better.
