Rated 3 out of 5 by Midwestclassic Pretty knit, bad fit
I'm 5'10" 145 lbs, a 34d, & 33 years old. I look like my grandma in this sweater - not what I'm going for here. Sorry, grams. I bought this in beige, medium hoping to style it with skinny jeans and boots. I wanted it to be more fitted. It fits me like a men's sweater with the band on the bottom and bulky bulge above the band. The sweater is also not as cropped as it is in the photo. The upper arms are too roomy and the extra fabric wrinkles giving me floppy arms. Bummer! I want this sweater to work, considering ordering a small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Katya11 Excellent sweater
This sweater is of excellent quality--the cotton knit is heavy and substantial, and the sweater is fitted enough that it doesn't look baggy. This is a nice casual classic that I expect to use for many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PalePixie Beautiful, warm sweater
I really like this sweater. It's a heavy cotton that feels like it will last a long time. I'm 5'5 122 pounds with a 32B chest and I ordered my usual "Signature" size small. I like the short length. It's a little bit snug, especially in the arms. I probably should have ordered a medium, but it doesn't look too tight with my denim shirt under it so I decided to keep it.

I have this sweater in white and brick red, and was so happy to see it in blue, that I just ordered it in that color, as well. I normally wear XS and have one in that size and one in S. I ordered the blue one in XS knowing that it is a snug fit, which I like. I really like the short length (I am 5'1" and 105 pounds) and the heavy feel of the knit. I find this sweater to be so comfortable and flattering. I wear it with denim skirts, pants, and jeans. I read that some reviewers complained that the knit is not soft---a fisherman's sweater is not meant to be soft. However, LLBean offers other sweaters in a similar style in a soft knit, so we can all be happy!!

I'd recommend this sweater to someone by saying that it looks just like the photograph. I'd have to add that I imagined it would feel more handknit--softer, lighter (this is a heavy sweater-- and more supple. I did not find that it runs large and was able to put it on without problems. That said, it is the neck that caused me to return the sweater #Actually, I ordered two--the blue and the reddish-brown.) The neck just seemed to be in an odd place for me, though on a younger neck, it would probably have looked better. I think the sweater is probably just a three-star--an average sweater, one that looks better than it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BrooklynCamper LOVE this sweater. Does run small.
This sweater is my new favorite item of clothing. It does run small, but I followed other reviewers suggestions and sized up. I am 5'9", 135 lbs and usually wear an XS or S. I ordered a Medium and am very glad I did. It fits me a bit looser than on the model, but still hits right at my pants, which is my preference. As for the neck-- that is the best part of the sweater. Very unique, and true to the Irish fisherman design. The feel of the yarn is also great: it feels like it has been out in the sun and salt air for some time. I'll wear this piece year-round. Great for night time at the beach, but also cozy for winter by the fire. Great job on this one LLBean!

Rated 4 out of 5 by KimberlyM Small fit & neck opening, overall nice sweater!
I was on the lookout for a shrunken fishermans sweater and this one fit the bill. I am 118lbs and 5'3 and usually wear an xs in tops but ordered a small based off of the reviews and I'm glad I did. I was initially disappointed because the neck opening is tiny but decided not to return. When I purchased there was only a photo of the cream sweater and it appears that the one on the model has a different neck opening. It looks like the photos of the other colors represent it more accurately. I wish the neck opening was a bit bigger so I could wear collared shirts and put the collar over the opening, that is my only complaint, besides that it is a sturdy thick sweater.

The overall fit was good and similar to what was pictured on the model. I am 5' 6" and ordered a small.
This sweater is a keeper for me but be warned...The neck opening is TINY. Do not fix your hair or apply make-up until you have put on the sweater!

Just received my back ordered sweater. I will need to return..the neck opening was only 5 inches in diameter on a size medium ..very tight on the neck. Was poorly shaped at shoulders and too short. Something went wrong. This will in no way stop me from being a faithful LL Bean customer...Just thought you should know.

Agree with another reviewer, feels like twine. It's stiff, not stretchy. Too expensive for this quality. The picture shows it ends near the waist, which I wanted, but it actually stops mid-hip & is shaped like a men's traditional sweater. Neckline-It barely went over my head. I suspect Bean switched to a cheaper manufacturer for this shipment.
