Rated 5 out of 5 by sterrell Chilly office
I bought these for my husband to wear under his work pants because his office is cold. He came home the other day after wearing them the first time and said that for the first time since the weather changed he was warm enough all day YEAH!! Thank you again for a great product.

The silk underwear pants are comfortable to wear inside (i.e., not too warm) and warm enough outside (such that my legs don't feel cold and I don't even think about them). I like them so much that I am going to buy a second pair as a backup for when these are in the laundry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LoveWinter1221 I'm a repeat buyer
I have purchased these four times over ten years. There is nothing like them anywhere else. They become my first layer almost every day the forecast predicts 20 F or lower. They add no bulk; it's like all your clothes are now lined in silk - just enough warmth! As a skier, I put them on UNDER my base layer if the day looks cold (windy, or negative summit temps).
Being that the material is very thin, they do run; just expect that you'll squeeze two seasons out of them (worn, like i said, ALL WINTER), and a third very holey season, and budget new ones in every 2-3 winters!
I'm a woman, 6 feet tall, not skinny (190 lbs) and the men's medium is perfect. The women's version, like much of LL Bean, is too roomy in the seat/waist and doesn't account for long limbs and torsos.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DoyleRJ Not so Great for Skiing
I like using silks when skiing as it provides just the right amount of warmth without bulk as long as the weather is above 25 degrees. However, these have a thick seam on the inside at the ankle of each leg which is very uncomfortable inside a tightly buckled ski boot. Therefore I would not recommend them for any activity that requires use of a high, tight boot. They seem otherwise well-made and comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by spicetrader Very nice for warming up a business suit
I work professionally at a computer, which doesn't involve much activity. In the winter, this splendidly comfortable silk underwear keeps me pleasantly warm, so I can work more effectively. And it is perfect for a walk or light work outside on a cold day. The silk seems to adjust to temperature across a wide range of conditions. But sometimes, the ambient temperature or my level of activity changes enough, so that I become warm, and I can remove the underwear and fold it into a tiny volume for little bulk in my jacket pocket.
They naturally wear out after extended use, so I have bought several of them over a number of years.
I had to knock off one star for the infernal scratchy tags in the waistband. The thought of removing them fills me with anxiety that I will accidentally punch a hole in the garment, and the process of removal is time-consuming and tedious. But I have to remove the infernal scratchy tags, because the underwear is useless until the infernal scratchy tags are gone.
Perhaps LLBean could make the infernal scratchy tags easier for me by (1) Using the flimsiest big stitches to sew the infernal scratchy tags into the garment, so that I could easily remove them, or (2) Replacing the infernal scratchy tag material with the baby-softest silkiest smoothest most comfortable fabric ever, or (3) Lobbying Congress to change the laws so that we need not cope with infernal scratchy tags sewn into our clothing, or (4) Attaching the infernal scratchy tags to the waistband, not with a seam, but with a soft silky string about 10cm long so that I need only snip the string to remove the infernal scratchy tags, or (5) something else. When LLBean works this out, I will give this underwear the full five stars.

Excellent garment. However, the elastic waistband is uncomfortably snug for my 40 inch waist, even though I ordered XL in anticipation it might be.

Rated 3 out of 5 by daninportland a little thinner than expected
this silk long underwear is very sheer, the thinnest I've ever seen. Very comfortable, but I would have preferred something a little more substantial.

My husband has been wearing these and finds them comfortable
and likes the warmth that they supply without being bulky.
Only problem is that he always has runners in his pants but he
keeps on wearing them!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jim620 Did not wash well and see through
I bought these because the Lightweight Power Dry Pants were a little too warm for me. However, I did not realize how thin and see through they would be which really did not go well with my hairy legs. Of greater concern is how poorly they looked after only two washings so I returned them. I do like the Power Dry pants. I just wish the lightweight was just a tad lighter.
