Rated 5 out of 5 by MidwestMomOf4 Best Back Pack, Worth Every Penny!
We outgrew our previous back pack. I was looking for a larger and more durable one to use as we carry a back pack everywhere we go. We have twins, so we always need hand wipes, bottled water, snacks, etc. When we outgrew our previous (diaper bag back pack), I knew that I was going to get a LLBean back pack. I am already an avid Bean shopper, so adding a Bean back pack to our family was a must. I narrowed it down to 3 Bean back packs and went for it and got this $99 dollar one. I was skeptical at first because of the price, but reassured myself that it's a Bean back pack and it's worth it. The back pack has water proof material. The back is cushioned. The straps are extremely comfortable. I pack it until it's full and it doesn't seem that heavy as the padding and construction of the back pack distribute the weight accordingly. There is a pocket on the front that is lined with very soft material...for glasses, or your phone. It has an insulated, padded compartment inside for your computer, ipad, or water pack. There are many pockets, so for those whom like everything in it's right place, this back pack does it. It has a second pocket inside for a cell phone. I got the red/black/grey one and it's true to color. The zippers are great as they are a high quality plastic grade that wont break, but wont cut you and when you zip it open or closed, it zips smoothly. We are looking forward to using this back pack all summer long, on vacation, and for many years to come. We purchased this back pack as an investment, knowing that we will be using it everyday for years to come. The size is also perfect for an adult or teenager boy. This would make a great back pack for high school or college. I also like the bottle holders on the sides because they are not mesh, as they are of a solid material that expands. The mesh bottle holders just rip. And the bottle holders was another selling feature for me that was a must. Overall, I give this back pack 5 stars. Hope this review helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Horseman2 Comfort, durability, terrific
Just returned from two weeks of day hikes in the Utah desert and national parks. Plenty of room for everything I needed and wanted to bring along. Fits nicely under an airplane seat so it travels as my "second" carry-on.

This pack was recommended by one of your expert staff members for My wife to use on our lengthy daily hikes of from 3.5 to 11 miles.
His recommendations were crack-on for storage room and multiple pockets for isolating segments of items being carried. Additionally, the comfort was better than earlier purchases we have made from L.L.Bean.

I have a previous model, only difference seems to be the front clip part over the outside of the pack. If this pack is simmilar to mine, the quality will be great. I cant put into words how much I have thrown this bag around and it still is as nice as day one. Only concern is be careful, the hip bucks can slide off.

My old Ridge-Runner lasted 12 years through daily use. I've used this new one for a day hike and as a daily book bag. It's a useful size for work, travel, and hiking; and it has a great variety of pockets and compartments, convenient for everything from pens to water bottles, lunch to laptop.

I bought this for my son-in-law. He thought it was great because it had a lot of space, a protective sleeve for his computer, an H2O pocket, and more.

This bag is unacceptably poorly designed. The chest strap is far too low to allow any woman to be able to actually use it. It could have been so easily fixed if they had used common sense in the design.

I always prefer LL Bean backpacks for school because they're durable, look great, and contain all of the appropriate storage areas. This was for my 16 year old son whose non Bean backpack tore and the zipper broke. Those high school backpacks are always crammed, and I knew we needed something tough. AND, he loves it!

This back pack was purchased for a mission trip to Kenya. It will be one of my carry on pieces for the flight over and will be my constant companion while there. The pack has literally everything I was looking for...a safe and padded pocket for my iPad, a sunglass pocket, a pocket for camera and phone, side pouches for bottles of water, pen/pencil slots, credit card/i.d. holders, and room for a jacket, hand wipes, bug spray, etc. I have searched and searched and finally found what I was looking for. Not surprised, L.L.Bean can usually deliver what we need for outdoor activities.

This back pack definitely lived up to our expectations. I bought it so my husband could use it when he travels to carry his lap top but also when we go day hiking--it is perfect! Since he hurt his shoulder lugging around his briefcase, this item was sorely needed!
