Just one experience of having a tent break from wind in the middle of a camping trip far from home was enough for us, we will not buy anything but 4-season tents. This one is large enough for our newest comfy sleeping pads, is sturdy (with four poles for the tent and one extra for the rainfly), is easy for one person to put up alone, and is very well-designed with two doors and lots of interior pockets. We just used it for two weeks of car camping across the western U.S. and couldn't be happier with it.

Very hearty tent -- spacious, and the vestibule is great. Has withstood some ridiculous downpours. The tent floor appears coated and will not permit any permeation. My go-to tent when not backpacking, as the weight really precludes that.

I took this tent with me to a scout campout. I was amazed by the vast amounts to pockets and vents I was able to use. I have also used this on high altitude hikes.

Great tent - this is just an update to show it off in action during my trip to CO and UT last year.

I bought the tent for my scout son who needed a tent in his previous troop. He has used it a couple of times already. Granted, I could have bought a smaller one for one person use but I thought we could also use this when son & dad camp together rather than taking 2 tents. I chose the 4 season tent even though I know nobody in our family will ever camp in snow because my son and I get cold easily.
This summer I had to camp with the troop because there was not much adult leadership and either I went or the boys did not get to go. We fought over the tent--I won!
It rained 3 days non-stop--not one drop of water inside the tent, I did not have a whole lot of damp feeling either and I was not cold at all. I loved the tent so much that I just ordered another tent as we are a 4 people family and I have another son who will need a tent in about 2 years. (The cheap (non-LLBean) family tent we had which leaks big time during rain will need to go now.)
Granted these tents were not cheap for us who only camp occasionally but they are well worth the money.

by 47DHOOK Possibly the only tent you need.
Took this tent out last weekend in New England. The temps were around 80 during the day and the low 50s at night and a LOT of dew in the morning.
This tent performed flawlessly! I have camped many a night in other tents where I woke up dewey(is this a word?). Not in this tent. The combination of the footprint and rain fly kept us dry as a bone.
Super easy set up and high quality, bomb proof, construction.
Slept 2 adults and one 3 year old very comfortably. For 2-3 this is the only tent you need.

Excellent quality and design as others have said. Clips work great, making set up, even in the dark very easy. Tent stood up to 40mph gusts all day and night on my most recent trip to Moab. The extra vents at the top of the tent are a nice addition.
The one nitpick I have is that the door flaps are outside of the screen doors so if you want to adjust how much airflow you're getting through the door, you have to unzip the screen, zip the door to the desired spot and then rezip the screen. A little bit of a hassle, but can be somewhat disturbing to other campers in the middle of the night.
All in all, though, I was extremely happy with this tent, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HikingAround Easy set-up, sturdy, ready for the weather
First time use involved a winter camp where we had some windy conditions. There was a bit of rain (temp went up a bit so snow was not an issue).
Compared to my other four season tent, this was much easier to set up (the clips work great!). While other tents were getting blown into weird shapes by the moderate wind gusts (20-25 mph), our tent held up and didn't move at all. Despite wind throughout the night, the tent remained pretty quiet on the inside (probably the four poles cut down on flapping/movement).
We didn't get a lot of rain but there were no leaks.
The only thing I have a minor gripe with is that the insect screen in the doors is a bit of a hassle. As it covers the whole door you must unzip it separately from the door (ie can't just unzip door and screen w/ one zipper but have to unzip the door, then the screen). Not too big of a problem as we just rolled up the screen since no bugs were out and I assume we'll roll up the door when it's warm (just leave the screen up for ventilation/bug protection). However when it is early spring/late fall it could be a tedious as both screen and door may be desired - both would have to be opened and the screen dangles (can be ripped by getting caught in the door zipper or adult/little kids feet tripping on it, and ripping on entry/exit). We'll just have to be a bit more careful at that time.
Overall and outstanding tent and value from LL Bean with one very manageable gripe.

I got this tent from my wife for xmas. I had been bugging for a four season tent for some time. I didnt even know LL Bean sold these tents. I was a little sceptical at first. I tested this tent in my backyard as I didnt want to be out too far if it didnt hold up. I had it set up for a few days. During that time it rained and snowed. The temps. were around 10-20 degrees F. I have a small heater that I use and in that tent it was awesome. I turn the heat off before bed and back on in the morning. The tent heated up wonderfully and kept me dry. I am very happy with this tent and would quickly recommend it. Set up is extremely easy as well. I am looking forward to camping in Feb. in the mountains in PA.

by FinestKind Simply love it!
Bought this tent last year in the spring and am itching now to take it back to Bar Harbor, ME. Used a pup tent when I was young and after a long break had picked up a Coleman's a couple of years ago, which I didn't mind to lose during a move. Did a fair amount of research and actually drove up to Freeport when I couldn't decide between two finalists. Decided on this with footprint and found it to be a dream in ease to put up, in finish, and in simply worry-free camping. This is not for the novice, who won't appreciate the quality and finess--for the seasoned and the spoiled like me this just might the tent for the rest of our days.
