I ordered the gray in a size L, my usual LLBean size. Was surprised to find that it was a full size too large for me. The size L would fit a chest size 42 - 44" comfortably. I also found the fabric to be scratchy. I've never ordered boiled wool before. Are you supposed to always wear it with a turtleneck so it never touches the skin? I'm not impressed. It's not lined either, so any little breeze is going to blow right through it. I'll pass.

I purchased this jacket last year in grey and loved it so much I bought another in khaki this year. The fit is perfect. The jacket is very slightly fitted so that it has a nice shape but it's not too fitted to be tight over sweaters. This is a thinner coat so if you need a really warm winter coat, this would not be the right choice for you. The only negative I have is that it is not lined. A nice lining would make it perfect.

I bought this jacket in navy a couple years ago. It is my favorite for all the reasons listed above. I have worn this jacket in 30o weather with a scarf for in and out of the vehicle errands or to work and it's still warm - without the restrictive bulk feeling!! It runs large. I orders a Medium when I usually take a large. WONDERFUL JACKET!!! I, considering ordering another one.

Last fall I bought this jacket in blue and it quickly became by favorite. Even on days when it was pretty cold I could wear it over a sweater and be comfortable. It has held it's shape well. I got lots of compliments on it and now am ordering the same jacket in red for next winter. Love this jacket.

I ordered this jacket in red orche, but it really is more orange. It also runs very large. Still, I would keep it, but it started pilling after a couple of weeks. Now, it looks like a cheap coat you could buy at a discount store. I will be returning it.

This jacket was just what I needed for layering in late Spring in New England. It ran very large and I had to size down from my normal size (and what the sizing chart guided me to buy). Once I did, I really liked it.

This is great for layering but also is amazingly warm. I am a 63 yr old and am a little warm these days so I found this jacket plenty warm down to about 30 degrees with just my regular clothing and a scarf.
It fits a little small across the shoulders so I went up a size. Overall is a great find, I will probably pick up another color when I can get a good price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by FairPoint Beautifully made, mostly good fit
I bought the green one on sale in a plus size. I am very impressed with the quality, construction and cut of this jacket. The rich, saturated green is beautiful. All the seams are bound inside. Like all boiled wool coats, it is unlined. I followed the advice of other reviewers, and bought a size smaller than usual. That was the right call, and it fits perfectly.
The only problem is that the sleeves are too long, and I'll have to hem them. When will manufacturers realize that plus size women are not all six feet tall?? At 5' 8" I am not petite, and I shouldn't constantly have this problem with the sleeves. But otherwise, I expect to get a lot of use from this coat!

So nice to have a petite jacket that fits well and is comfortably soft, flexible and warm! Also, sharp looking for when I am not shoveling snow!
Have just checked LLBean jacket pictures and the scratchy black "Bellandi" label pictures below are no longer sewn in most necks. It was quite a challenge to cut out without leaving 4 holes in my new jacket! Very nearly returned the jacket, since I couldn't stand to wear it! All is well now!

I purchased the navy boiled wool jacket and just love it. It looks good with jeans or dressier slacks. The collar can be worn up or down for different loooks. The fit is flattering, the hand-warmer pockets are deep and well-placed, and the boiled wool is soft and and has some stretch or give to it. Because of the giving nature of the fabric, I recommend getting a size smaller than usual... You'll have a trimmer fit and still be able to reach and move freely. I like the length of this jacket for casual wear, but would love to have this very same cut in a 3/4 length coat, too. ..And how about a nice red one?
