Rated 4 out of 5 by RedOne nice coat but lacks lining
I just bought this jacket in cobalt blue (clearance sale). I like it but I would love it if it had a lining. I haven't found the wool to be itchy but, without a lining, it's a little unfinished. Interestingly, the double-entry pockets (top & side) are both lined! I do like the stand-up collar and the fit is fine. With a light cardigan or pullover sweater beneath it's great for chilly mornings & evenings when I'm commuting (temps: mid-30 - low 60 degrees F). I think that the cobalt blue color is much nicer than the dusk blue color that's currently available for this jacket at full-price. In fact, a lot of LL Bean clothes would be more desirable if nicer color options were available. I prefer vibrant & pure colors to murky & plasticky ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JaneDoughy Favorite jacket for the season
I usually buy one new jacket each winter and this year I chose this boiled wool one in boysenberry. It goes with everything! It's not at all bulky; in fact, it probably won't be warm enough for colder climates. But it looks great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Brackenbeanie Quality, great cut, light and warm.
I have this in gray -most practical for me-and often look at the other colors because they are rich, saturated and pretty. LLBean remains classic, yet on trend with colors which change each of the three years I have worn this. The funnel neck and large pockets are my favorite features. It has a great cut which is still flattering over a chunky knit sweater( my favorite way to wear it.) I got the regular rather than my petite size because I wanted the extra length . I am very tempted to buy another color!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MissHiggins Stylish go-to jacket
I love this and have it in three colors now. (I wish they made navy.) It can look dressy or work with casual clothes. It is a light jacket but I find it to be warm enough in 30 degree weather (with appropriate scarves, etc.) It fits great -- very flattering. And the colors are beautiful. I have the leaf green, red and gray colors. The price is reasonable for the quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Noia Love it!
I live in the Colorado foothills but hail from Chicago. The weather here rarely gets to what I consider 'cold' (anything 10F or below) where it warrants a true winter coat, This coat will be the perfect weight from the Fall to the Spring for me. In Chicago, it would probably be appropriate till about late December/January.
The sizing fits perfectly. I'm 5'11, 157lbs the large allows for layering yet I'm not swimming in it.
I have to say the Cobalt is an absolutely stunning color. The color sample on the page doesn't do it justice. Google cobalt glass to get an accurate color.
It's a lovely classic style coat, which is so hard to find now days. Thank you Bean!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by SouthernMaineNative My new 'Go-To' Jacket !
This jacket runs large so I exchanged for a smaller size. Love the style and fitted look and it's lightweight but still very warm, as one would expect from boiled wool. Would I wear it outside during a Nor'Easter snowstorm...absolutely not, but, it will be my new Go-To jacket for 'most' all other fall-winter-early spring weather conditions we encounter here in southern Maine. If you've been sitting on the fence about this jacket...don't put it off any longer, it's a great jacket at a great price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Discernment Boiled Wool Jacket in Charcoal Heather
I admired the style of this jacket for a few years, but what was stalling me was the price. When it became available in the Charcoal Heather, I reconsidered. I am now very glad I bought it and wear it several times a week. In weight and style, it fits in between my nice wool/cashmere blazers and my slick rain/snow parkas. I like the high neck and think it's very attractive with a standup turtleneck and nice scarf (LLB buffalo check mauve Irish wool scarf#. The princess seams are very flattering and the two way pockets are cozy and functional. The heather gray is very versatile with black and dark indigo jeans or dark blue and dark teal cords. For shoes, I like LL Bean's gray casual shoes. As to the price, the boiled wool jackets I have purchased in the past don't hold a candle to this jacket. As to it being unlined, it is beautifully finished on the inside, and I add another layer #a light sweater over my turtleneck) for more warmth should I need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by givemewinterweather Beautiful jacket
I bought this jacket last year and loved it so much that I immediately ordered a second one in a different color. The jacket is light yet warm enough for a run around coat on a cold winter's day. I love the high button collar. You also have the option to roll down the cover for a more traditional look. The sleeves are long enough for me, which is often a problem with coats. The pockets are warm and positioned well. I wouldn't change a thing about this jacket. I think I'll order the coat as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Oracleofdelhi Style, Color & Comfort in a Warm Sweater
This boiled wool jacket is like a very, very thick sweater, but it is very stylish due to the placement of the seams on this garment. The deep-wine heather color looks great for people with darker coloring. This jacket is comfortable too; it again is very heavy but doesn't feel bulky. I wear it indoors & and out. It's great for car use in winter.
This jacket isn't lined, however, and is not a great alternative to a pea-coat when temps dip below freezing. I am giving it four stars as it doesn't block much wind. As for sizing, it seems to run large. Typically, I wear a 2x, but the XL fits fine. And, this coat comes in petite, which is great because I am 5'3".
