Rated 5 out of 5 by flick297 Great buy!
Just received my jacket and love it! Purchased the mushroom color and it's perfect. I'm 5'5 and 115 lbs and the small fits great with enough x-tra room to wear a light fleece jacket underneath for really cold days. Sleeve length is plenty long and cuffs inside are a nice feature. Zipper works flawlessly and so far no down poking through as other reviewers have said. The current clearance price on this is a steal and I just may order a second to keep on hand!

For the price, this is a terrific jacket. I was a little apprehensive about ordering it, after reading about others' issues with the zipper and when I first got it, I had a little trouble with it too. But after doing it about a dozen times, the zipper seemed to get "broken in" and it's not an issue at all anymore. I'm not crazy about the little down feathers sticking out here and there, but that's a hazard with down jackets. All that said, the jacket is wonderfully warm without being bulky, has great little knit cuffs inside the sleeves, and runs true-to-size, for me anyway. I love how the zipper can be opened from the bottom so that when I'm sitting, the jacket isn't too tight across the hips. I would buy it again in a heartbeat!

Rated 3 out of 5 by deecap7 warm but fashionless jacket
I will say that I wanted a jacket just to throw on when going from one place to another. The jacket does keep me very warm. I purchased the brown in a large, I usually take a mediium but wanted to be able to wear sweaters underneath. There is nothing fasionable about this coat. It is just blah. The color is deep, deep chocolate brown. Not to complimentary, at least on me. The other thing is feathers sticking out of coat back and sleeves. What a pain! I may return this jacket.

After reading most of the reviews, I was hesitant to order this coat but the sale price was just too good. I'm so glad I did. I love it. Would have given 5 stars if it had a hood - then it would be perfect! I was worried about the microsuede in the rain but water just shakes off and I stay dry. This coat is warmer than my wool coats. Feels so good, lightweight yet keeps me warm in single digit temps. Nice fit. I love the zippered pockets, first time I've had them & they are so convenient. Like the way they are lined and the angle is perfect for keeping hands warm. So far no trouble with any of the zippers and I love that the main one (down the front) is two-way. Love the cuffs on the sleeves - one of the pleasant surprises, added warmth and a touch of class! I have the chocolate brown and the color is nice. True to size for me with room to layer. Collar feels nice around my neck. All around a very good purchase and what I expect from LLBean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AkitaWalker Beautiful Jacket!
I adored this jacket the minute I took it out of the bag! It perfectly fit my 5'1" 120 lb medium/petite frame, and the color -- mushroom, and quality are very apparent -- typical L.L. Bean!. The "pseudo"-suede looks very real, and the "shearling" on the collar does too! I've rec'd. many admiring glances since wearing it! It looks very expensively made, with those little touches that only an expensive jacket usually has! I loved the extra cuffs in the sleeves, the two zippers, -- which contrary to what many reviewers complained about, were easy to maneuver and zipped up and down smoothly. It really looks beautiful, and at this sale price it was a STEAL!

Well, I'm still in the market for a really warm, functional, just stylish enough winter coat. This coat makes it on the just stylish enough requirement, is pretty functional ( a zip off hood would be nice), but the heat rating is just off, This coat is thin. Even given a chance to fluff up when out of the packaging the sleeves especially have little insulation.
That said, It's a nice looking, well made coat! Chocolate brown is a deep, saturated color, soft microfiber outside, cute fleece collar. Medium fits my 5'7" 155 lb well, with room for a thin sweater. If a tall had been available I'd have bought it, arms could be a tiny bit longer. I also tried a large which was good in the arms and shoulders (mine are broad) but too wide in body and hips.
Get it if you need a nice looking coat for mild winter temps is my guess.

I just purchased this jacket about a month ago. I first ordered the 3/4 long down coat. I find this jacket to be much warmer. Zipper is good on this jacket.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Alicat3245 Bad Zipper, also runs small
Okay when the jacket arrived at first glance I thought it would work. Then just trying to work with the zipper I became frustrated. No way I was going to deal with this zipper for the next couple of winters. It also runs small, so order up a size if you can deal with the zipper issue.

This is my favorite winter coat. It keeps me toasty warm in the coldest of temps (sub-zero), very attractive, and machine washable! Purchasing my second because my dog ate a hole in my first (left a tiny piece of chocolate and he smelled it!) and didn't see it at first on the website. So glad it is still being made! Thank you LLBean!
