I bought this for my son who was in Florida at the time and the weather had turned chilly,he found it to be good for his bike riding there.
Now he is in the Pacific Northwest and is so grateful for it with hood and all...to protect him on these cold and wet days.He particularly mentioned the hood to me as being a Godsend...this jacket/hood is well made and a sturdy fabric as well. This apparently was a good choice on my part as he wears it almost every day.. it was one of those quick/emergency purchases that worked out well...Hard to buy for others` sometimes!!

I've just been reading the reviews, and I see that many men have mentioned that the bottom of the sweatshirt is too roomy for them. I think that what's a problem for them has made this garment absolutely perfect for me. I ordered two of these. I put one on right away to try it, and ended up wearing it for two solid days, since it's been very cold here lately and this sweatshirt is so comfortable you can sleep in it. I have never had such a good hoodie. It's sturdy and well made. It keeps you nice and warm, but it breathes, so you never get overheated. The security pockets are very handy. Best of all, the fabric seems to shed dog hair, and it does repel rain. The sweatshirt looks like new, even after washing. I wish it came in a whole range of colors, and I'll be keeping an eye on it for that.

I purchased this for my husband. This is just an average sweatshirt with unique pockets that have velcro closures. I believe it's way over-priced even on sale. First of all it's not a heavy-weight sweatshirt and secondly, it's way too short- so why so expensive? My husband is 5'9" and the bottom of the shirt in the back is right at his belt or above. It's so wide at the bottom that when he sits or bends over the shirt rides up mid back and the front hangs like a maternity shirt. I ordered the Medium for him and although it is has the perfect roominess for layering and for his small frame, it's just too loose at the bottom and will offer no protection from the elements on his backside. So, I'm going to send it back, call customer service and maybe try the taller version. I would call customer service to get length measurements before purchasing since this is very expensive to purchase and return. Very disappointed!
Medium Regular Measurements:
Back Length: From collar seam to bottom hem: 24.5"
Front Length: From collar seam to bottom ( where tie is) 22.5"
Across front arm pit to arm pit is about 26" or 52" ( doubled)
I'm 5'3 petite and usually purchase PetXL in tops and this shirt works great for me, hitting around my lower hip area without any excess bulk.

This is a well made sweatshirt. The stitching is good quality and the material is thick enough without being overly heavy. The hood fits well and is not too deep.
I agree, however, with several other reviewers with regard to the waist. This sweatshirt is oversized, so layering underneath is easily accommodated but the waistband is much too loose and combined with the VERY roomy fit, it does tend to look very sloppy.
Be forewarned: "Size up" only if you plan to do some layering with this sweatshirt and if you are normally between sizes, consider ordering down a size. Better yet, order both sizes and try on both. Bean's easy return policy makes this possible.

Ordered size large. Size is correct in shoulders but waist band is too loose. My waist is 36 but this waistband would be loose even for a 46 waist. Looks pretty sloppy.

The description says this hoodie is made of cotton, but it's actually a cotton-poly blend. Also, the sizing is incorrect. I ordered a medium, and the label said medium, but it was so big that it should have been labeled as a large according to the sizing chart.

Overall this hoodie is very high quality and very durable. My only complaint is the sizing is a little bulky around the waist. It needs to be a little tighter to seal better, it just kind of hangs a little loose around the waist. Fix that and this is the perfect hoodie.

We recently received this sweatshirt. It is warm and well-made. I heeded the reviews and bought my 6'2" husband the tall option. He is between a large and an x-large, but the large fits well. The fit in the shoulders is perfect! Keep up the great quality! We love it!

This is a very warm pullover sweatshirt; very roomy. My only complaint is that it's to short in the length. I work outdoors and when you bend over it rides up your back and you get a draft. Just moving around in general I find myself pulling the sweatshirt back down often. I have the river driver sweatshirts which are cut longer and I do not have the same problem with them. I am of average hieght and I am going to try the tall version of this shirt.

Because of online reviews, I chose this jacket over the womens because of the tie on the hood and the inner velcro pocket. I love the jacket. I hope Bean realizes these features are important to women and add them to the women's version. That way us gals can purchase more of these jackets in feminine colors. I normally wear a large in Bean Women's sizes. I bought a medium Katahdin men's jacket and it is a bit large, however, I am tall, so the extra length is a nice for me.
