I bought this for my husband, but he felt the fabric was too thin and the jacket just didn't hang well on him. Additionally, when he went to tighten the drawstring, the string broke, so we returned the jacket.

Was hoping to replicate my father's army field coat from World War II that was long ago stolen from my college's cafeteria.
The Explorer's fabric feels flimsy.
Maybe I should have gotten a Bean field coat instead.

I received the jacket very quickly and I liked what I saw right out of the box. I normally wear an XL-Tall but took a chance this jacket was a bit larger than normal so I ordered the L-Tall. I was right, it fit very well. And most important, the sleeves were long enough. As I was modeling it for my wife however she noticed that the jacket did not hang flat along my back. From the middle of the mid back down to the bottom of the jacket it bulged out. No matter what we tried, including adjusting the inside drawcords, we couldn't get that part of the jacket to hang flat. So, we decided to return the jacket. Overall, however, the jacket felt rugged, had lots of pockets and was comfortable.

Just received this jacket in time for our rain this weekend , fits well, and seems to be perfect for rainy New England spring season, cool summer nights and our unpredictable fall weather.
Lightweight should be easy to pack for my frequent travel, with lots of pockets. Good job, Beansie..

Jacket material was disappointing. Very wrinkly. Zipper is difficult to start.

Did you ever have a jacket or a sweater or perhaps a shirt that became your favorite the first time you put it on? That is what this jacket became the moment I first put it on.

This jacket is what it claims to be. However it runs large. When I ordered it the weather was quite hot. But, within a few days we had cool wind and rain and it was put it to the test. I may have been able to go to a medium size. Sleeves are especially long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dark Comfortable, great fit, light weight
Quality jacket with plenty of pockets and very stylish!
Chocolate color spot on accurate.
Very comfortable and size was perfect fit as advertised.
Customer service recommended XL for my size 6.0 ft, 230 lbs.
LLBean had fast delivery and has been always reliable.
The jacket is great for Spring to Fall seasons and can be layered
for cooler weather. Fabric is light and soft cotton finish and is rain
resistant ( but not waterproof ). This is a light weight garment.
I would rate this jacket as 4.5 Stars. Great Buy!

This is a very practical jacket, especially for travelling. It's well-designed has enough pockets to substitute for a small carry-on bag. In particular, the two zippered inside pockets are extremely secure for wallets, passports, tickets etc. For extra warmth, one can easily wear the jacket over a heavy shirt or sweater.

I have tried for years to find a jacket that would do the things I need it to do as I work as a photographer... My wife thinks I don't look so good in a light jacket so we have searched for a dark color we could both agree on... This jacket is a winner... It has multiple pockets for memory cards, iPod, dumb phone, small lenses and cleaning gear... Inside pockets hold securely: airline tickets, passport, pens, sharpies, and more things I haven't gotten to try with it... And my wife likes the dark color... It's a winner...
