Just simply love this really old school, cabin, hunter, traditional jacket. Ooozes quality and classic repose. I usually take a large shirt. Ordered large and medium, and kept the medium.

Well constructed as all LL Bean products are. Fits well, at 6 ft I bought an XL. There is plenty of chest room and space for additional layers underneath. My only gripe is no side pockets for my hands. Overall great jacket.

The wool outdoor shirt I purchased is absolutely wonderful. I get very cold in the winter time. This shirt makes winter a lot easier for me. Easy to maintain and looks great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Dogwalker48 Obvious obstinacy
I've now owned 2 of these shirts, which are indisputably warm. My reasons for lopping two stars off the shirt's rating are:
1. One star for being too short in the torso. I'm 5'11, and the Medium is just not long enough.
2. No handwarmer pockets cost another star...this isn't a tuck-in 'regular' shirt, no, it's a thick, heavyweight shirt-jac worn on the outside of one's pants. As such, the lack of handwarmer pockets is egregious.
LLB could easily fix the length problem by offering the Medium in a Tall, which they do with many other shirts. It seems to me the lack of handwarmers is also an obvious shortcoming...I assume the product sells well, so LLB obstinately refuses to fix it.

I purchased a LG/Tall but found it a bit snug in the shoulders. I liked the shirt so much that instead of sending it back I ordered another one (XL). I wear the XL for hunting and fishing (which I can comfortably layer under) and the other one for everything else. The nylon lining allows this shirt to move smoothly in the torso and the elbows over whatever shirt you have on under it - (much unlike a regular wool shirt). The lining / insulation also make it windproof and warmer. Best wool shirt I own!

This is an almost perfect shirt -- breaks the wind and I am thankful for the primaloft. I have a wool Maine Guide jacket and it's perfect for early season, but not warm enough without a million layers once it gets cold (in Vermont). But I wish it had more pockets and/or handwarmer pockets -- that would make it perfect. Hunting clothes for me are all about pockets -- my clothes need to work as hard as I do and I don't want much in my backpack. I ended up sewing a large pocket onto the inside left of the shirt (out of wool) that has a button close because the front pockets were too small for my gps.
Also, I'm really glad the shirt was not as pictured in the catalog -- it showed it had a sliver lining and it took me weeks to finally decide to order it. It has a black lining -- which is much, much better. And a medium is fine, room for several layers, for somebody 5"10" and 170 lbs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lovessnow2 Very warm, note on sizing
Love this shirt / jacket, comfortable and warm. Have Primaloft in other jackets and its awesome light, warm and when wet dries quick and retains heat. Note on sizing I ordered a Med and wear Med in 99% of my clothing and returned for a small and it fits perfect. I know this is a "shirt" but it would be Perfect if it had pockets for my cold hands and fleece on the collar to avoid some itching due to wool if not wearing a collared shirt underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lenticularus Very nice mid-weight "shirt"
The shirt is very nice and better than I thought it would be. Live in the South and am using it as a lightweight jacket, which is does very well. The shirt's lining adds not only a bit of warmth, but allow you to get in and out of without snagging. Was worried about the noise compared to previous Windstopper material experiences, and I did not find it noisy at all. Works nicely on cool, drizzly days in the 40s like we have just had.
Sizing is actually a bit smaller than I expected. A 2XL is a true LLBean size. I also purchased the Maine Guide Zip-Up Shirt Jac, and that run a bit bigger. If you need a 2XL, you will find a sweater underneath quite tight. The wool is wool, not super soft, but not horribly scratchy. Overall, this product is a better match to my purposes than the Zip-Up Shirt and give it five stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BarkEaterADK great as expected
as expected LLBean quality and worth the price. It is well-made, warm, the real deal. The only thing I could say as a criticism, if you could call it that, - the lining that goes full arm to the cuff makes it difficult to roll up the sleeves. I think it would be perfect if the lining only went as far as the elbow.
