Rated 4 out of 5 by cjmac46 The rubber tips for shipping
I'm sure it's obvious to experience hikers but I did not realize the rubber tips on my poles were covers that are used solely for shipping purposes. If I had not read the other reviews and comments, I would not have thought to take them off -- or that they even came off. It would be nice to have the protective shipping covers (and the need to remove them) mentioned somewhere, on line description or in the packaging.

Rated 4 out of 5 by cjmac46 A surprise -- two poles, not one
I totally missed that the purchase is two poles. When in my "shopping bag" to purchase, it said quantity: One
Since I got $30 off the price with coupons, I don't mind but it really doesn't say directly in the description that you are purchasing two poles or a set of poles or a pair of poles -- you get the drift.
Even though they are a berry pink, my husband said he will use one of them. I can't use two because my other hand is busy with a dog leash. I really like that they collapse into a shorter length and fit (mostly, they protrude some) into my backpack. That way I use the walking stick when I need it and when I don't, it's tucked into my pack. Haven't used them yet but the locking system seems secure and substantial.

The description, when I ordered this item, read "Padded straps absorb sweat and won't chafe during long hikes."
The straps on the poles were actually simple ribbons, no padding in sight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by quesolover Ive been using these for months and I love them.
They're not purple, they're pink. Otherwise the description is spot on. These poles don't have markings on the bottom portion of the pole, which is a pain when trying to get each section even (my only reason for 4 stars otherwise these are a 5). Easy solution; I just fix the top portion based on the markings then hold the lower portion along the opposite pole to ensure they are even, you could also create your own markings pretty easily. Sturdy poles. If I put a lot of weight on them, the pole never gives out. Keep me steady. Make going up and down a whole lot easier. The handle fits my hand perfectly. Ive tried male poles, but I felt I couldn't get a good enough grip on the handle. This handle is perfect for a female hand. It took me roughly 3 months to go through the rubber tips for these (I've never had a tip pop off or get lost with these). They have held up great. I bought these 06/12 and they still look new well into 10/12. I hike very day I can. Try not to be up on trails in rain/snow/sleet but sometimes the weather doesn't go as expected. I'm 5'3" and these are a perfect fit. They are very adjustable and would fit a variety of heights.
