Rated 1 out of 5 by Buffalogal2013 not up to LLBean standards
I usually love LLBean clohes. This was the most diappointing article that I have ever purchased from LLB. The dress looks like a $30 special. It arrived in a mass of wrinkles. I ordered my usual size. It fit across the bust but gaped at the armholes and across my back. The flair of the skirt looked like ti belonged on a little girl. This is definitely going back. Very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by rowa4peter A little short waisted
I love the material, the neckline, the length, and especially the pockets. I am 5'10 and size six; the waist is quite short on me. I don't know if it is just my body but the belt ties lower than the seam at the waist! Still love it though.

Overall: This dress is exactly the style that I look for. I have a very modest style and often find it challenging to find clothing that meets my needs as a young professional as well as in casual settings without looking matronly. The dress is well constructed and is a very classic style. The pockets are a lovely addition as well, without adding extra bulk to the skirt. It has a very 50's housewife feel which I love.
Fit: I am a standard size 4, sometimes petite, with a pretty curvy, muscular body type. At 5'3" I actually liked the regular sizing, hitting just below the knee. My measurements are roughly 35-29-40, and this dress fits beautifully in the hips with plenty of room, and fits well in the waist. The dress is a little snug in the chest area but not enough to justify a return or exchange for a larger size (34D, anyone larger may need to consider a larger size for comfort since the dress does not stretch). As many other reviewers suggested the waist fits tighter than most size 4 dresses I have worn in the past. However, as a curvy girl this actually makes the dress even more perfect for me.
I have already purchased this dress in 3 colours/patterns and instantly fell in love with them all. Can't wait to save up and get a few more. Keep this style, please!

Rated 5 out of 5 by SusieQT123 omg, the cutest dress ever!!
I bought this dress in the red-blue stripe. I simply cannot wait to wear it on the 1st really warm day this spring!! It is the best purchase I have made from my friends here at LLBean. I love the pockets!, - ....great design touch!! I recommend that you watch the size chart carefully-- It ran small, as I bought one size up from my normal dress size. A possible small adjustment in design if anyone from the design team reads these.......the arm pit-front might need a stitch or two just to tack-it down. It would be good to have some darts for us with fuller figures. But-- it didn't stop me from giving it 5 stars.... it is a true show-stopper.

I'm 5'3 and roughly 140 pounds. This dress fits perfectly. I understand what reviewers mean about the back gap but it's not a huge deal. The quality of the dress is good, the zippers are coated metal and it looks very elegant. I would recommend this dress 100%. The only con might be makeup getting on the collar but that's a given for any dress

Rated 5 out of 5 by HPH48 Classic design, hidden details make it a winner!
I purchased this dress because it is a blank slate with great potential. The cut and quality make it a beautiful stand-alone piece, yet the simplicity leaves it incredibly versatile.
I'm slim, but have a large bust and broad shoulders. This dress fits me well, but tailoring might be necessary for narrow-shouldered customers. The armholes are a good size-- I had plenty of mobility, yet felt completely covered.
My favorite details are the hidden pockets and the snaps designed to hold your bra straps in place. I wore this dress to a wedding and could hide my phone in my pocket and dance without looking disheveled or stopping to hoist up my bra.
I did have to iron this dress after traveling with it, but the wrinkles were minimal. A less persnickety person wouldn't have bothered. The pleats have stayed creased well, and I haven't had to iron the belt.
This was my first L. L. Bean Signature purchase, and I am looking forward to exploring the rest of the line!

Rated 4 out of 5 by CanadaMomof4 Gaping in the back...otherwise beautiful!
Maybe it is my square shoulders (although I have other dresses that don't have this problem), but the back of this dress, as stunning as it is, gaped right at the zipper. I nearly sent it back, regretfully?it couldn't be worn like that?but my husband really like the dress and suggested I have it altered, which I have done. The twenty dollar alteration has added to the overall price of the dress... It is a beautiful dress, and I am looking forward to wearing it, but I do feel that the fit is somehow not quite right, as I have very seldom had this problem, in dresses that cost me less. I am exactly a size 6 according to the size chart - 35, 27-1/2, 37-1/2, (120-ish lbs) but skeptical, I ordered the 4 and the 6, and the 4 fit perfectly - it's not remotely tight. So, I disagree on the need to size up.

This dress fits so beautifully and is so well-made! I am in my mid-20s and 5'8" with a professional job, so I am always on the look out for things that look professional but are comfortable.
I typically wear between 8-12 at stores (depending on vanity sizing, most likely). I wear an 8 in regular LLBean outfits, but I wore a 10 Regular in this dress (like most of LLBean signature it runs smaller than typical LLBean). It falls perfectly at about mid-knee on me and the waist hits at the bottom of my ribcage. I mention this because I often need a "tall" size (even though my height is borderline "tall") at other stores (and I often wish LLBean had a tall size for women as shirts can be a little short on me). It might be a little high for the waist, but I think it works well anyway (doesn't look too short).
This dress is perfectly designed for the pleats to fall in a way that doesn't make your hips look bigger (a concern of mine with pleats). It really gives a perfect hourglass shape. The polka dots are adorable too- just the right size. I usually wear it with a pearl necklace and some brown flats- so cute!
It also has some "bonuses" for a dress- pockets!! I can carry my keys in them easily without looking like its bulging. They are a little forward and not on the total side, so it makes it easier to carry things in them unnoticeably. They also have the strings/snaps for bra straps at the top to keep your bra straps from showing. It is also perfectly lined with a solid piece of fabric, so you don't have to worry about a slip. These are really just the extra touches and thoughts that make this dress a must-have and worth the price!
