Rated 1 out of 5 by Stringcat Completely useless
Plenty of the reviews posted mentioned that this radio doesn't work. Here's another. Despite fully charging it in the sun, cranking it, pleading with it, this radio works for less than five seconds (yes, I timed it) and then dies. Very disappointing, as we wanted to add it to our earthquake kit.

I've had this for years and never had to use it. Sandy left me without power for 10 days and this gem tuned me in to the news with just a few simple cranks. Everyone should have on of these, but hope you never have to use it.

At first, I wasn't sure that it could pick up anything but weather stations. It does, although don't expext "Bose" reception. However, I like it for what it is, and the extra flashlight is a bonus. I didn't realize that it could charge ordinary cell phones, and I haven't tried it to find out yet. It's a little too soon to want to revisit "Sandy!"
I went out searching for "D" batteries 2 days ahead of the storm for my boom box, and couldn't find them. This tiny radio is a wonderful, reassuring alternative.

I purchased this radio as a gift for my husband. I was very disappointed at the size of the radio also it says that it is solar powered. I keep the radio in my kitchen window that gets lots of light and no matter how long it is there when I turn the radio on it only lasts for a few minutes so I find myself constantly having to wind it up. It is not worth the money and wish I could return for a refund but I bought it when my husband was stationed in Kuwait and he didn't open it for a few months.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DrT007 NOT WITH i*PHONES
*DOES NOT WORK TO CHARGE i*PHONES*
However, is a nice, compact little solar + crank emergency radio with flashlight, siren/alarm, weather radio + AM/FM.
Has USB port to charge "phones", but to reiterate, DOES NOT WORK WITH i*PHONES.
Would recommend to a friend, but as most of my friends/family have i*Phones and not cellphones any more, and most of us lost power in recent storms, it would have been useless to keep in contact once phone battery lost its charge.
(Note: bought 4 more for x-mas gifts--will be returning them all)

This is a nice little emergency unit. Not particularly hard to crank and all the features were easy to use. Would have given it a perfect mark if an adapter had been included.

Bought this a couple of years ago for camping. I have used it for camping and the beach over the last couple of years. It became awesome when we were out of power for seven days after hurricane sandy. Batteries were in short supply and the kids were not limited on how much music they could listen to. Wish we could have plugged an iPod into it. Best $ you could spend for when the what ifs become what now!

Radio works fine. Haven't fully discharged initial charge, but VERY disappointed that it won't charge my iPhone. Also perplexed as to why the charger (for electrical outlet) isn't included?!?

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rgarrone Stood up to a Hurricane
I'm a college student living on the CT coast and recently experienced Hurricane Sandy. When my power went out, this little radio charged me and my housemates smartphones, gave us radio and provided light for us to navigate around the house and outside. The light is perfectly bright. The radio lasts a long time with a few casual cranks. I've since been without power and used this device to listen to the radio and light up my bathroom while taking a shower. Everyone should have a device like this.

I have now ordered three of the radios and they are perfect. I now live in Texas and have had to use it when the power goes out. I have the attachment so that I can also charge my cell phone. Great to have in the emergency kit or the car.
