I bought these sheets hoping they would be crisp and soft and they did not disappoint in the least. Now I have trouble getting out of bed in the morning! I'm going to buy a 2nd set for my guest room.

Great fit on a King bed with 2 frequent tossers/turners...clean, crisp quality cotton. The sound the sheets make as you toss them up to make the bed almost sounds like sailcloth, a guarantee you will never regret spending the cash on these sheets. I think about getting in these sheets all day!

The quality of these sheets is great but they crinkle too much and wakes me up.
I prefer the 280-Thread-Count Pima Cotton Percale Sheet, have two sets and they keep getting softer and softer.

Finally! I have looked and looked until these. Unhappily, many of the quality products of the past are no more, but these sheets are a real find! Actually, I only have the pillowcases bought at full price. I can't afford the complete set..yet. I had a discount code and, lo and behold, a sale! Thus, I was able to purchase another set of pillowcases. The unhappy customers are used to the modern "feel" of bedding and prefer it. But when buying cotton, the wrinkling and the crisp rustling is part of the old fashioned bedding. We used to iron all our bedding before permapress! I recommend the moderns stay with what they're comfortable with. But for us oldies, thankfully there are still a few of the old products around!
Soft, not scratchy
Generous in length and width
Washes beautifully (I have always ironed my pillowcases)
Does not shrink in the dryer

I read all the reviews and decided to take a try on these sheets since they were loved by so many. But I do agree with the negative review that the sheets "crack" like sails. Every time I move in bed the sheets rustle. I have washed them multiple times and there is no additional softness. I even went back and read all the reviews because I can't believe these are the same sheets that everyone else loves. I have gone back to my worn and inexpensive sheets, and the Bean sheets are in the closet.

Like another reviewer, I have been looking for quality crisp percale sheets and striking out. We like the crisp, non-clingy feel of percale : A) because we live in a humid climate and B) because it feels like sleeping in a luxury hotel. These sheets are the most substantial ones that I have been able to find. They are well made. I expect them to last. Ordering my second pair today.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Texas2Sum Sheets too big
I was surprised when I received these sheets and they looked used - wrinkly and poorly folded. I returned them and reordered a 2nd set and when they arrived in the same condition I realized that this is the "pre-washed" look that the company is looking for.
The sheets are super soft and I like that but they are huge - too big for my king bed. The fitted sheet does not fit tight to my mattress and the corners slip up, leaving the sheet lumpy all over. I am disappointed. My mattress is an extra thick mattress and this is the first 15" pocket sheet that I have bought that is too big on my bed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Thomask Fitted sheet is a bit loose
I prefer a fitted sheet to fit tightly to minimize wrinkling when I sleep. This one is a little loose, perhaps to allow for those with a thick mattress topper, though I have a very deep mattress. The fabric quality is excellent; substantial and very soft. The sheets make a funny rustling noise, almost like taffeta, which is not really a big deal. I've only washed them once and this will probably go away after more washings.

I plan on transitioning all of my beds in two houses to these sheets. That's two sets of sheets for eight beds. Good sleep is so important for health and happiness. This is a much better investment than your cable bill.
These sheets are crisp, cool and, yes, soft.
I've been looking for good sheets for decades. I've tried many luxury thread counts and have frequently been disappointed. To get a better sheet than this, you pretty much have to spend several hundred dollars and buy a proper luxury sheet. These are great value.
And yes, they do soften over time. One washing is not enough to fully break them in.
To those who say they're not soft or feel like plastic, I'm not really sure what to say except that for years manufacturers have presented us with ready-made "broken in" softness that is produced by chemically or mechanically beating down fibers. It's no wonder we are confused as to what real cotton feels like. Cotton has a substantial "hand." Those velvety cottons that almost seem like they have a nap are a result of chemical or mechanical breakdown of the fiber structure. Obviously you won't get as much use out of cotton that has already had some of the life beaten out of the fiber. Another kind of softness comes from the way the fabric is woven. "Sateen" has a different weave structure that presents a smoother surface than a percale but again, sateen doesn't wear as well as percale, which is a tighter weave.
The qualities that make a fabric soft also add to it's warmth. The micro "nap" of a pre-broken in cotton holds heat. The sateen weave structure also traps warm are more than percale. Personally I don't love flannel sheets with all their warm air pockets even in winter. Heating-trapping softness can affect how well you sleep. Humans literally sleep better when they feel slightly cool. It's part of our diurnal rhythm. When the sun goes down and the temperatures fall, our bodies actually slow down and prepare for sleep. To me the best rest comes from crisp sheets for coolness next to the skin with a heavier weight comforter or blanket on top to keep my body heat from evaporating into a slightly cool room. Not too hot and not too cold, just like Goldilocks.
To "Good House Keeper" who was unhappy that these sheets came out of the dryer wrinkled, I would remind her/him that cotton without a chemical coating does wrinkle and if that's a problem for you, take the sheets out of the dryer sooner. The wrinkles set as the sheets cool in a heap in the dryer. The only cotton that doesn't wrinkle is chemically treated.
To those who say these sheets don't live up to percale sheets they have known from the old days, I just sigh and wish I could have experienced those.
And to LL Bean I say, "Thank you for the great sheets." And please consider bringing back those Percale 220's everyone is talking about. It seems like you've got the last decent percale sheets in the marketplace. Clearly there's a market, albeit a specialty one. Couldn't they be a premium offer? I'd be interested.

With confidence I purchased this sheet set for our guest room. We have happily used Bean's percale sheets for years. Fresh out of the package their softness made a great first impression. After being machine washed and dried, their soft feel was maintained. When I made up the bed, however, I was sorry to discover that the flat sheet was badly mottled with big white blotches in the otherwise cream ("Natural") color. (I had used only Tide and Downy softener - no bleach.). I am keeping the set as I need it now for guests. The top sheet is covered by blankets anyway. Neither the bottom fitted sheet nor the two pillow cases show the problem. I hope others' luck is better than mine if they are not so tolerant of the problem I discovered today.
