Rated 5 out of 5 by Treesoutsidemywindow Cool and crisp!
These are just what I was looking for. They feel smooth but not slick. They are generously sized and feel substantial. The "natural" color is more like a soft yellow, which I love. I am very happy with these sheets.

These are described as "Sunwashed" sheets. I can't think of a better description! It's just like I pulled them off the line after a day in the sun. They are nice & crisp without being stiff. There is a lovely little (yes, little) crinkly noise that reminds me of summer, even though it is -15 w/windchill outside right now. They fit my bed perfectly, I have found that flat sheets are not normally wide enough to tuck in. Not with these sheets! My bed is made and I am all tucked in. I will be ordering more of these comfy & oooooh so cozy sheets!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Beanertown If you like sleeping between sheets of paper...
These are the worst sheets I have ever slept in. They had a sound like wind hitting sailcloth that scraped against the ears (and nerves) every time I rolled over. I slept (poorly) in them for a week and now have vowed only to give them to guests that might overextend their welcome.
I have washed them twice and they still crinkle and crack. Last night I put on my old soft sheets that were much less expensive from a different store. I slept like a baby.
Having learned the hard way, I will never buy sheets from L.L.Bean again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SEHA Lovely, old-fashioned sheets
Like so many people, I've been searching for old-fashioned percale sheets "like grandma's" and have had a hard time finding them. After doing much online research, I ordered highly rated sets from several catalog companies and chose this particular set from LL Bean because I preferred it's pillowcase trim over the hemstitched edge of Bean's more popular percale set.
Though LL Bean's Sunwashed Percale sheets have the lowest thread count of all the sets I ordered, they are by far my favorite! I love the tailored look of the thick pillowcase piping. The sheets are crisp but not plasticky and stiff. Though not the softest of the lot, they are by far the thickest and most substantial while feeling soft enough for my taste. Also, remember that grandma's percale sheets were probably at least thirty years old by the time we slept on them, and so much of their softness was likely imparted by age.
The sheets are generously sized, and don't seem to shrink much at all. The standard pillowcases fit my vey plump queen pillows with room to spare even after washing and drying (In fact, they may be too large for a flatter, standard sized pillow). The cases from the runner-up sheet set that I purchased from a certain Vermont catalog company shrunk several inches in length and would barely cover a standard pillow!
I will certainly order these sheets again!

These are not like percale sheets that I remember. They were hard and I washed them 9 times, still hard....really did not like this set at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fruits Love the crinkle sound
I spent a good bit of time researching bed sheets that are soft (but not silky, satiny) and that wouldn't cling to me. And I'm weird I guess because on other reviews it mentioned the sheets made a noise when you move and I actually like that. I call it a crunchy or crinkly noise and that's the reason I chose to give it a try. And indeed it makes a crunchy noise that I love. The sheets to me are just the right softness and do not cling.
The color is perfect as well. I thought they would be more of a yellow but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was more creamy to me if that makes sense at all. When the package arrived it had a card in the package that explained LLBeans 100% guarantee satisifaction so if you're on the fence on this one it wouldn't hurt to try it because you can always return it but thankfully I found that these are the perfect bed sheets for me!

Rated 4 out of 5 by IthacanNY nice sheets but "natural" color is misnamed
These are good quality sheets, but I second the reviewers who said that "natural" is actually light yellow. The difference between the name and the actual color was quite clear because I bought a set of natural flannel sheets at the same time. The flannel sheets are what I expected--a cream or beige color. The "natural" cotton sheets are definitely light yellow--a nice color, but not what I expected despite the warning from other reviewers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LovetoIron Greatly improved after washing
After the first washing these sheets were still a very yellowish white, hot to sleep on, and abrasive. I was going to get rid of them. But after more washes in detergent with non chlorine bleach they have become very white, not so hot (in fact they don't seem hot at all any more), and they are smoother, too. They have improved greatly. I like the trim on the pillows. The fabric is a nice weight. I iron the pillowcases and top and sides of the flat sheet. They are easy to iron which is not true of all cottons.

Rated 2 out of 5 by KatyaVT Not the Percale I remember
I love percale sheets and good quality percale sheets have become difficult to find. These sheets bear little resemblance to the percale sheets I grew up with. First off they are very thin. You can nearly see your hand through them. But worse they don't feel like cotton, despite being 100% cotton. They almost feel like some kind of ripstop nylon, slippery. And yes as noted by other reviewers, that makes them noisy. Noisy sheets? really? yes. It makes me wonder how the cotton has been treated. I hoped that washing them would improve them but nope - still slippery and noisy.
The search for real percale sheets goes on. These aren't it.
