I recently received my set of sunwashed percale sheets and pillowcases. I purchased them based on the reviews. I am vey disappointed with this product- they hardly feel washed and almost do not feel like all cotton. I wished I would have returned before using-- maybe I got a bad batch. I think the term sunwashed is very misleading when it come to this product.

I just received my Sunwashed Cotton Percale sheet set (with an added set of standard pillow cases) in white. After washing them, they have a wonderful crisp cotton feel. Yes, they make the typical sound associated with a thickly woven, crisp cotton. If you are looking for the limp, silky, sateen sheets, then check other options at LL Bean. These percale sheets are exactly what I have been looking for! I cannot attest to their durability yet, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
One suggestion: Consider making a queen size pillow case. The only option is standard or king. I would have ordered king, but I wanted the pillow cases to match the ones that came in the queen sheet set and those appeared to be a standard.
Satisfied so far!

This review may sound like a robot wrote it, but I assure you, I researched sheets extensively, perusing several websites and reading others' review over and over. I settled on these and had somewhat low expectations because of the price point.
I wanted sheets that breathed, that had that slight crinkly feel (do not mistake this with lumpy, or sheets that bunch up and leave marks on your skin). They remind me of when I stayed in a pensione in Italy years ago on an Island in Sicily. Or, the kind of sheets you might find at a spa. They were cool, soft.... like super soft and they feel like they have been baking in the sun. They seriously remind me of Summer, and vacations, and they remind me of the salty sea.
They are not sateen soft, which frankly, feel to me like slick, silky, slippery sheets that don't absorb any heat. I would wake up sweating bullets. These sheets make me want to retire my sateens instantly. In fact, one night on these sheets and I ordered another this morning.
The best I've ever had, and unbelievable price.

I loved these sheets when I first received them. Yes, they crackle, but that didn't bother me. They soon became soft. After several washings, little holes started appearing, which grew larger with each wash. Both the pillow cases and the sheets now have large holes. I get angry every time I look at the holes. While these were not the very best sheets I could have purchased, they still should have lasted a lot longer than they did! They weren't cheap! Would not recommend!

Now *these* are percale: crisp, cool, sturdy, like the percale LLBean used to carry, and nothing like the slippery 280-Pima "percale" imposters that feel like nylon!
The Blue Mist color is a much paler powder blue than pictured. The Natural color is exactly as pictured in the sheets, a beautiful buttery-yellow/cream color. The picture for the set of extra pillowcases inaccurately makes them seem beige or khaki, which they aren't.

These sheets have everything I want and like in sheets. They are crisp, not flimsy; smooth, not slick and are generously sized. They are good for all seasons. I line dry them and when I hold them up against the sun I can't see through them.

These are just what I was looking for. They feel smooth but not slick. They are generously sized and feel substantial. The "natural" color is more like a soft yellow, which I love. I am very happy with these sheets.

These are described as "Sunwashed" sheets. I can't think of a better description! It's just like I pulled them off the line after a day in the sun. They are nice & crisp without being stiff. There is a lovely little (yes, little) crinkly noise that reminds me of summer, even though it is -15 w/windchill outside right now. They fit my bed perfectly, I have found that flat sheets are not normally wide enough to tuck in. Not with these sheets! My bed is made and I am all tucked in. I will be ordering more of these comfy & oooooh so cozy sheets!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Beanertown If you like sleeping between sheets of paper...
These are the worst sheets I have ever slept in. They had a sound like wind hitting sailcloth that scraped against the ears (and nerves) every time I rolled over. I slept (poorly) in them for a week and now have vowed only to give them to guests that might overextend their welcome.
I have washed them twice and they still crinkle and crack. Last night I put on my old soft sheets that were much less expensive from a different store. I slept like a baby.
Having learned the hard way, I will never buy sheets from L.L.Bean again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SEHA Lovely, old-fashioned sheets
Like so many people, I've been searching for old-fashioned percale sheets "like grandma's" and have had a hard time finding them. After doing much online research, I ordered highly rated sets from several catalog companies and chose this particular set from LL Bean because I preferred it's pillowcase trim over the hemstitched edge of Bean's more popular percale set.
Though LL Bean's Sunwashed Percale sheets have the lowest thread count of all the sets I ordered, they are by far my favorite! I love the tailored look of the thick pillowcase piping. The sheets are crisp but not plasticky and stiff. Though not the softest of the lot, they are by far the thickest and most substantial while feeling soft enough for my taste. Also, remember that grandma's percale sheets were probably at least thirty years old by the time we slept on them, and so much of their softness was likely imparted by age.
The sheets are generously sized, and don't seem to shrink much at all. The standard pillowcases fit my vey plump queen pillows with room to spare even after washing and drying (In fact, they may be too large for a flatter, standard sized pillow). The cases from the runner-up sheet set that I purchased from a certain Vermont catalog company shrunk several inches in length and would barely cover a standard pillow!
I will certainly order these sheets again!
