Rated 1 out of 5 by TNPat Not soft sheets!
These sheets are not soft at all. I've washed them 3 times, and they still aren't any softer. They make a very annoying crinkle sound every time they're moved (like turning over in bed). The crinkle sound is like the crinkle sound you get when you move plastic. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I'm still looking for soft cotton sheets, but not sateen finish.

Rated 2 out of 5 by shopperrrrrr not soft as advertised
Received these sheets and they felt hard and scratchy in the package. My husband convinced me to wash them. After washing they didn't soften at all. Advertised as being especially soft. This is definitely not the case. They feel extremely utilitarian and supremely non-special. Cheap-feeling. I thought I was buying something luxurious and really nice; I'm sorely disappointed. They went back the next day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Danale Love the 'mineral green'
The sheets are excellent quality, and I absolutely love the color (mineral green) it's exactly the tone I wanted, it's like 'warm' green, more vibrant and modern than vintage green.
The only thing I dislike very much about these sheets is the size of the 'fitted' sheet, they are too unfitted too huge for my new queen size mattress .... I cannot understand why all of LLBean sheets are so huge and not fitted at all ......

Rated 3 out of 5 by LynthiaRae Color misleading
Loved the fabric of these sheets. HOWEVER, most of us need a specific color family to blend into our bedroom decor. I purchased the vintage green, and I am now returning them at my return postage expense. Unfortunately I would say if you are trying to match a color family and you aren't physically looking at these sheets do not purchase them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beanwinky Sunwashed Percale Sheet Set
We bought these sheets in January 2013. We bought white, queen-size sheets. These sheets are very generously cut so they cover the queen-size bed very well. We have laundered these sheets at home using mild detergent and no bleach or fabric softener. We have dried them in the dryer and hung them on the line. Minimal wrinkling does not affect the comfort. The substantial fabric is very comfortable in winter and summer. It does not cling to the body. When there is time, the pillowcases get ironed but when there isn't time, it doesn't affect the comfort of the fabric. We have never noticed any unpleasant odor from the fabric. We love these sheets and will be purchasing another set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mountainbell Mineral green?
The sheets are great, and maybe I would recommend them to a friend. But, the color shown on the website and the color I received were "horses of a different color" as they say... The warm "Mineral Green" as shown is a much lighter green in reality, leaning a bit more to yellow tones than dark sage tones. Very difficult to describe, but definitely not what I see on the website. I've been moving my laptop screen back and forth, trying to replicate it, but it just doesn't compute. I can work with these, but I was disappointed in the color. What in the world is "mineral green" anyway? Luckily it wasn't close to the oxidized copper I have on my mountain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DanS Love these, so far
Also reviewed the Sunwashed sheet set. I bought extra pillowcases. It's easier to have more on hand than to try and find them later. Also pillowcases usually get a lot of wear compared to the sheets.
Ok, about the product. It felt rather rough and had a strange smell (enzyme wash?) out of the package. I washed them TWICE with some extra fabric softener and they did soften up nicely. Also removed the out of the package smell.
A bit disconcerted as they were a bit wrinkly out of the dryer. I did not want a sheet set that needed ironing. I did a bit of touchup with the iron along the top/open side of the case and that seemed to "take". The rest smoothed out by hand easily.
The fabric was very soft and cool to sleep on. I'm here in the SW so I appreciate a nice fabric like that in the hot weather. Unfortunately, the weather has now turned colder so it's time for the flannel sheet sets and these will return to regular use next spring.

Rated 2 out of 5 by pcsqueen Not As Good As The Previous Version
Two years ago, in a hunt for the crisp, substantial 100% cotton percale sheets and pillowcases that I remember from years past, I finally hit the mother lode with Bean's 220 count sheets. Sleeping under them is FANTASTIC! Crunchy-crisp and cool against one's skin, they are the perfect summer sheet - made all the better when you can line dry them.
Alas, Bean discontinued them.
Wanting the same sheets for my guest bed, I was delighted when Bean introduced these. I immediately ordered them, assuming that they'd be just as good as the ones from a couple of years ago.
Alas, Bean didn't use the same percale.
These, while beautifully made, don't have the substance or the texture of their predecessor. Doing a side-by-side comparison of sheets that were laundered the same way and hung outside to dry, the "hand" of Sunwashed Percale is noticeably more limp and not as thick.
This is actually my second review of this product. My first was, for reasons unknown, rejected. (Probably because I tried to review the sheets on the pillowcase page. The website's review tab doesn't link correctly.)
Tho my review wasn't published, it was read. Shortly after submission, I received a phone call from a very nice gentleman in Bean's Customer Service department. He was calling from Maine; I live in Belgium. That in and of itself was a very pleasant surprise. However, the time he spent with me discussing my opinion about the Sunwashed Percale's shortcomings proved to me that Bean not only values its customers, but listens to us.
So, while I don't like the Sunwashed Percale, I'll continue to not only remain a loyal Bean customer, but also sing their praises to anyone who asks.
