The footprint is a must have. I used to carry a small tarp to use as the footprint, but it took up way too much pack space and was somewhat heavy. This saves weight and is just big enough for the tent base. You want this to protect the bottom of your tent, because the last thing you want is a hole in the bottom of your tent and a heavy rain to follow.

This footprint is very reasonably priced compared to other brand tents and their matching footprints. Keeps the floor of the tent dry and prevents from ripping on rocks. First thing to do when you get this is to take the bag and use it for something else. How nice of llbean to give you a free small ditty bag!. Second thing is to set up your tent on top of the footprint and then roll the footprint, tent and fly around your poles and put in the stuff bag llbean provides for the tent. I have found it is the easiest way to fit it back in the bag. We all know how hard that can be sometimes. Plus, when you unroll your tent, it is already on top of the footprint. The tent never touches the ground, Perfect!

This is the perfect footprint for the Microlight FS 2 person backpacking tent. Does exactly what it is designed to do, is easy to use, and packs small and light.

I've got the older style Microlight two man tent and footprint also. This footprint seems much lighter than the two man version... which is good if you are backpacking. I find the Bean's tents to have pretty tough floors, but what I like about these footprints is that they give some protection to the floor, keep ground condensation off the bottom of the tent, and allow for the setting up of the fly first... very handy in the pouring rain. Nobody likes to put their gear into a soaking wet tent.

This is a really lightweight groundcloth, to go with a really lightweight tent. The tent poles attach directly to the corners of the groundcloth, ensuring the good alignment necessary for keeping rainwater from reaching the bottom of your tent. We got to try it out several nights, and it worked very well.
