It's only May, but it's already hot and humid here in Tidewater. This life vest provides safety and comfort while kayaking here on the Chickahominy River (first explored by Capt. John Smith) or around Jamestown Island, both of which can be warm during the middle of the day. This vest was slightly warm around the mid-section, but the arms are open and allowed for air flow to keep cool. I wear around a 36-38 in the chest so I got the medium/large and it's perfect. The bright turquoise blue is not only attractive but practical out here on the busy river because it is visible from a distance.

This PFD is extremely comfortable in a kayak with a high seat back. It is far better than any other design I have tried. The medium/large size easily adjusts down, without feeling bulky, to fit someone who would normally wear a smaller size over just a bathing suit but then leaves plenty of room to wear a sweatshirt or two underneath on colder days.

The vests are very different from our former PFD. They are shorter and very bulky in front. This takes some getting used to, but it appears the bulk in front keeps you face up in the event of an emergency. The women's vest is more comfortable as it allows rooms for female chests. My husband and I did notice that in the water our former vests rode up under the chin, whereas this vest stays put and is more secure. So we will have to get used to the bulk in front and trade that for the additional safety offered.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Dartworks Very uncomfortable
My daughter and I found this PFD way too stiff and uncomfortable to wear. Because it sticks out so far on the sides, my arms hit every time I move them. I like the high visibility yellow, but I am returning it.

High back--good for paddling. Fits closer to neck than I usually like but still good--wear a shirt to prevent chaffing. Color very visible on the water.

This vest seemed pretty bulky to me so I am returning it. Too bad because I love the color.
It was just somewhat uncomfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lbpa Can't wait to try it!
Received the pfd in good condition and with the right fit. I like the arm mobility that was available and the fact that the pfd wasn't in my face when I sat down with it on. Too bad it's too late to try it out. So looking forward to spring!

Rated 5 out of 5 by tessie06 Very comfortable and light
This PFD is very comfortable and light and did not "ride up" like the one I had before, so I was very happy with the purchase. I almost forgot I was wearing it since my arms did not rub up against it every time I went to put my paddle in the water. As a result, my kayaking seemed to improve as well, so I'm now eager to do more!

Rated 4 out of 5 by SusanSR Comfort back PFD... so so
This PDF does it's job when you need it to stay in place & float you. The back is thinner, which is good, but I still find it hard to get fully comfortable even in an adjustable kayak seat with the pfd on. I find myself wanting to unzip the front of the pfd. It is a quality pfd for sure, very well made & easily adjustable. Also plenty of arm room but I just can't seem to get fully comfortable, perhaps it's just me & not liking to have pfd's on. :)

Very adjustable, was able to adjust multiple straps to make the fit comfortable to my body. Would ne nice if it was neoprene material for more confort but will still serve me well.
