Rated 1 out of 5 by RealReviewer Dissatisfied - over-large unlike the other socks
I ordered some other socks with this dud, and I can confirm that only these socks are over-sized and ill-fitting. The other socks (supposedly the same size) fit me perfectly. Why is LL Bean selling socks with nominally the same size, and yet their socks are of inconsistent sizes? Completely dissatisfied. Lately it's been like playing return-package roulette with LL Bean - I order and just pray I don't have to go through the hassle of returning items. Looks like I can't even count on sock sizes any more. Sad. I might ask for one size down, except I no longer have any confidence in LL Bean so for all I know one size down will be two sizes too small. Argh!

Comfortable, well-fitting, and good for hiking in. I use them with my Cresta hiking boots, and they're a good combination.

Very comfortable. I wear mens size 9 shoes, so I bought the size medium socks and they fit very well; I am very happy I didn't buy the size large socks! Definitely follow the directions for the laundry, the socks aren't just throw in the wash as is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Valuechooser Warm, durable, nice looking, in MY size
First, I bought two pairs a couple of years ago. I wanted wool sox for the winter, when indoor humidity is low and cold seems to settle into the skeleton.
I am tall and thin with proportional feet, so the availability of the XL size was highly favorable.
I chose the blue. The socks have a varied pattern in the weave that is attractive; not your normal drab unicolor, but with a subdued multi color character.
They say you need to keep your head warm in winter, (I also have a wool watch cap) still, warm feet help, too. I wear them while sleeping that reduces night cramps in the feet.
Like another reviewer, I can wear these a couple of days thru exercise, in and out, and they are still fresh.
So I bought another two pair, in the grey color. They, too, have been great all around.
Both times I bought on sale, along with free shipping, no sales tax and uncompromising warranty, I could not be happier.

Great socks. Only kind of socks I've worn for several years. Gave some to my son and now he won't wear anything else, either.

A bit thicker and rougher than I have expected. But the price is right. Not bad for causal wear in New England winter; esp around the house.

Having just purchased a new pair of boots that were a little loose, I bought these medium weight boot sox to compensate for the wiggle room. These turned out to be just what I need for an nice fit...not to heavy...a perfect match. Will buy some more when I get the chance, or maybe another coupon!!! Would highly recommend these to anyone with the same problem. My boots no longer slip at the heel and I have a very comfortable fit!

After watching my high school son freeze his toes in his short cotton socks, I ordered these. He plans to wear them to school and for winter track, and says they are very warm. So far, so good!

Was looking for midweight wool crew socks for winter hiking and ordered these 1/4 length midweight socks by mistake. They make no sense since they're shorter than any hiking boots I have.

Fit and warmth are good. Socks had a distinct petroleum odor that did not wash out after the first laundering. This I would attribute to the non wool content woven into the socks.
