Rated 3 out of 5 by MikeInCincinnati Quality Steadily Eroding
I have been wearing the Cresta Hiking Socks for several years now. I wear them every single day from October through about May. I have tried all 3 weights, and I have found that the quality is gradually eroding over time.
I just received 2 pairs of the medium weight, and I noticed that they are significantly thinner and less substantial than the medium weight pairs I bought last year.
Also, I had to return every single pair of the light weight that I purchased --- that was about 4 pairs --- because within 3-5 wearings my heel tore a hole in them when I was sliding them on.
I used to rave about these socks, and bought several pairs for my kids last year. However, I can't continue to recommend them unless I see the quality decline reversed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by outdorz Great socks, I should never have tried any others.
I ordered these socks and have been extremely happy with them. I don't know about the other reviewers being unhappy, but if I was, I would just send them back to LL Bean, not to some King. I have also tried some other LL Bean socks this summer, but these are the best by far. JMHO.

Have worn these socks for a number of years and they have been great. Recent purchase had spots shred after a few wears. Not sure if defective batch or change in quality.

I've been wearing wool socks for 40 years of Midwestern winters and usually need a second pair of polypropylene socks underneath to avoid terrible itching. No such need with these socks. I've been amazed at their warmth, comfort level, and durability. These socks are my new must have items for the winter and I've ordered more pairs to get me through the winter of 2015.

Rated 3 out of 5 by notimpressedinME I can see my toes!
I have purchased these socks for a couple years now because they have been the most comfortable midweight socks I can wear in the late fall and winter here in Maine. I went up to Freeport a couple weeks ago and purchased a couple pairs. I put them on when I got home and discovered that I can see my toes through the fabric! It looks as though the stitching is about to come undone. I am so very unimpressed with them this year.

I purchased 2 pair of the Cresta , Cayenne socks on line and received them in 5 days.
When I tried them on, My toes poked holes in the upper toe area of the socks.
They were poorly made and were so thin that I could put my fingers through the fabric.
I returned them to King of Prussia and got a refund.
I've been buying for many years and have NEVER received any item so poorly put together.
I hope you will correct this defect on future socks.

Good socks overall. I wish there was more reenforcing in the heel. I have several pair that have holes in the heel but otherwise still in good condition.

I found these socks to be just ok. Hoping they stand the test of time. Was not exactly sure what to expect.

most comfortable socks I have ever owned. I have several pair of the full length Cresta hiking socks, and have just expanded to include these quarter length socks for summer months. great fit, high quality, and very comfortable !

I am very happy with these socks; while I have purchased from other manufacturers, I found myself sorely disappointed with their socks. These LL Bean socks are very comfortable and I also tested them with their sock liner product; I felt like I was walking on air. I like LL Bean because everything that I have bought from them works for me. Finally, the fact that they test their products is a great comfort. But the ultimate test is when I buy and use the product. I have been very pleased with the performance of these socks.
