This is my fall/spring robe. No robe required during the summer down here in Georgia, and when it gets to be winter (down here, late November through February), I switch over to wool robes ? I like to keep my house cool during the winter (i.e., around 60) and layer up to keep warm. So, I view this robe as warm-ish. It will take the edge off a chill, but, obviously, it will not approach a wool or fleece robe for staying warm.
I have two of these, one in Navy and one in Red. I?m slightly dubious of Bean?s claim that these robes are ?made of the same 7.5 oz. fabric as our legendary Chamois Shirt,? because the fabric seems, to me, to be slightly lighter than what is used on the Chamois Shirts ? but, that?s just subjective and I could be wrong. They are pretty utilitarian garments ? nothing fancy here, no piping on the cuffs or lapels ? just a simple, functional garment.
All in all, I?ve been pleased with these robes. They?re a bit heavier than the cotton flannel robes, which I found to be too light. They?re proven to be durable and I?ve had no problems washing them. Sizing, for me, works ? no one wants a skimpy robe. I would note that the armhole and the sleeves seem to be somewhat narrower than on most robes I own. I would have liked to have had my robes monogrammed, but the placement of the monogram above the pocket (instead of on the pocket) looks very awkward and misplaced, in my opinion.
My suggestion for improvement would be 1) Have a longer and wider sleeve that can be rolled up and cuffed to a desired length, and 2) add a bit to the length of the robe, as another reviewer has noted???oh, and put the monogram ON the pocket, where it should be.

I had to return an earlier iteration of the chamois robe (in plaid, no longer offered) due to the fabric un-weaving around the pockets. Opted for a Navy in large, and couldn't be happier. Nice and warm, solid fabric like my numerous chamois shirts. Lots of room to move around in-- I might have gotten by with a medium-- but I like the roominess. I've washed it a couple times and it seems to be breaking in nicely. Great product!

My husband loves this robe so much he would wear it to work and out to run errands if he could. This robe is thick, soft, smooth cotton flannel that is very warm and comfortable to wear around the house. It's not a "towel" robe for just out of the shower.
In terms of sizing, my husband is 6'2" and weighs about 185 pounds, with a 34-35 sleeve length. I got him a Large-Tall, which fits him perfectly - he can wrap/tie it snugly around him, the sleeves are actually long enough, and it hits at mid-calf which is the perfect length. LL Bean's sizing seems off because I bought him a medium regular flannel shirt in the same shopping trip and it was WAY too big for him.
I don't know how this will hold up after months of wearing and washing, but we'll see. So far it seems very well-made and durable.

Buy the Terry cloth robe, not this one. Not happy with the feel or wear.

bought for my husband who normally wears XXL shirts. got extra large and he joked that large would have fit. It is very warm, soft, not flimsy. I was glad to see there are belt loops which was not apparent on catalog. he was even happier it arrived sooner than expected. just in time for our next northeaster.

My husband loves this robe as it is warm, cozy and fits true to size and he says it feels like an "old friend" as it is so comfortable. . I am writing this review to acclaim Bean's top notch customer service. We were at the flagship store recently and found a print at the home store that we liked. We tried to order when we were home but it was not listed online. The rep. transferred our call to the home store and they found the print and are having it shipped to our home. What fabulous customer service in this day and age!! We will continue to be one of LL Bean's faithful customers.

This robe is replacing a flannel robe from a competitor that no longer sells mens clothes. My only complaint is that the LL Bean product falls just below the knee, where the one I got 25 years out of, was mid-calf. If you keep your house cool, you will need to wear long underwear, or pajama bottoms to stay warm enough. I am six foot, slim and purchased a med-regular. The weight of the material is similar, and I assume that it will be long wearing. In my opinion, it is about six inches too short.

I see you have a chamois robe for men. Why don't you have one for women? I loved the one I had years ago, and I would love a new one. Please bring back the chamois robe for women.

Just received this robe after waiting for it to go on sale. Had to settle for a colour that was not my first choice, however when received, it was great. I try to rely on reviews for sizing information, however for some reason these reviews do not seem to be accurate anymore. Most for this produce you will see say that this robe is over sized and they needed to order a smaller size. Well, I went with my instincts and ordered my normal size and it fit as it should. The quality is excellent, but the "proof in the pudding" will be when it is washed. I am enjoying my new robe and expect it to last like the Chamois cloth I purchased in 1975 and it lasted until the collar wore out 20 years later.
