Rated 5 out of 5 by NovaScotiaLLBeanFan Lovely little jacket, perfect for girls
I had one of these for my older boy, and it's so practical, easy to stuff in his back pack, and very lightweight but gives good coverage (warm enough for cool mornings, and then gives some protection if it drizzles#. Wanted something similar for my little girl, so picked this in pink. I bought a size up #she's a tall 5 year old so I got the 6X/7# and I just have to fold the cuffs back, and she's fine to go. Love it - she loves the color, I love the detail in the back #slightly more feminine and less boxy than the boys' version#, and first time she wore it, she got chocolate sauce down the front - I just had to wipe off #a day later, when I noticed#. Super practical, and very cute on. I highly recommend. It's very hard to find cute practical jackets these days for little girls but this one fits the bill.

Great staple to have in the coat closet! Bought for all in the house--grandma even wanted one after seeing ours.

We needed a lightweight jacket that also works on rainy days, and this one is perfect.
It fits well, And the hood actually fits without hanging over in my daughters face or blocking her vision.
Would definitely buy another when she outgrows this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PickyChildsMom Perfect for our needs
I bought this jacket in pink, size little girls med. 5-6 as a water resistant, light-weight windbreaker that could also keep my daughter warm on cooler days. We live in Northern CA where it might be in the 50s in the morning and reach 80s by noon. This jacket has been perfect our beach camping trip and for my daughter's bi-weekly morning hikes/field trips: the outer shell keeps out moisture and protects from wind, while the soft jersey liner adds a layer of warmth. It is light enough that she can take it off and tie it around her waist when she gets hot but durable enough so that it has put up with tree climbing, dirt hill sliding and rock climbing very well. She can put treasures in her pockets and pull up the hood for additional warmth. She loves the color and I love the cinched in waist. She looks so cute in it. The zipper comes up quite high, up to her mouth, which I didn't think she'd like. But she hasn't complained about it and it keeps her hood on.
This is one of two LL Bean articles of clothing I have ever bought for my children (price being a deterrent). But I think the price may be worth the company's reputation.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Bellamay Don't like new styling
The older version of this jacket, without the gathered waist, was so much nicer and easier to layer, too. The new fabric is OK, I guess, but the gathering along the sides is placed at a strange height, and not especially comfortable or flattering.
And why isn't this offered in more colors? I'll consider buying the boys version for my girls next time, since the styling of that one doesn't seem to have changed.
We have purchased this jacket for our three kids for years - after this year we may be looking for an alternative.

This is the perfect weight spring jacket. I love the longer style with the elastic around the waist. It works with girls' longer tunic type shirts that are popular now. The blue looks very nice on my daughter...we're a little "pinked out." :)

I don't care for the new style of girls' Casco Bay jacket. Not a fan of the visible elastic at the waist. Looks like it would soon look too short. I would be interested in the Discovery Jacket (older girls' sizes) or Trail Model jacket with the jersey-knit lining. I'm wanting something for my girls with a little lining, but not as warm as fleece. Also would be nice to have more than 2 colors for girls to choose from. Not all girls like "girlie" colors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by jamnewman Small disappointment
My kids have lived in the Casco Bay jackets for years. I am so sad that LLBean isn't making the girl's ones the same as the old ones any longer and that there is only one color to choose from. The new material doesn't seem as waterproof and sturdy as the old ones and the lining doesn't seem as warm and nice as the old ones. LL Bean, please return the old style. It was perfect for our camping and hiking and warm ski days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by formygirls great jacket
We love the lining of this jacket, a thin jersey knit. Perfect when she needs a little something, but not a fleece material. The waist line being gathered is very sweet. Plus, LL Bean thinks of every little thing. We love that the pockets zip up, my girls always are carrying "valuables" in their pockets. This is a great jacket for wind and a rainy days, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 5GEMS Great Jacket
We promptly received our new "Lake plaid" jacket in the mail and instantly fell in love with the pattern and jacket! I think its going to be great for all 3 seasons. My daughter loves the print and we hope that you offer it in other print fabrics. The solids are nice but not enough variety for my pastel loving girls. We love the elastic at the waist because it makes it more feminine looking. The hood is very generous, and looks like it will be accommodating to my always ponytail wearing girls. I ordered a bigger size with the thought of wearing a sweatshirt underneath. We should get a couple of years out of this jacket. Lining inside is soft and comfortable and being light grey should hide dirt pretty good.
