Northwoods is well built and roomy. It's easy enough to assemble, as long as you have two people -- I'd be hard-pressed to envision one person raising this tent entirely on their own. Our tent was in a summer downpour this weekend and I'm sorry to say water got in the tent. Two of the tent's sides do not extend beyond the pad underneath (and we purchased the matching ground pad). These sides should have hooks like the other two allowing you to stake the sides beyond the perimeter of the pad. Overall, a good car camping tent for favorable conditions.

Set-up was easy. Plenty of room inside for 3 people and a dog plus gear. Rain-Fly looks as though it would protect from the rain just enough, but haven't yet needed it to. Plenty of head room to stand and walk out the door as apposed to crawling out. Would recommend an updated version of the rain-fly so it protrudes over the front door further, creating a bit of a vestibule for dirty shoes. Inside corner storage webbing is great for small to large items. Packing it away is a bit of a task. I would recommend packing the tent body with it upside-down with the windows and door slightly unzipped to let trapped air out, otherwise a great purchase!

The overall quality of the tent is great with lots of space.
We have only used the tent once and I'm a little leery about the long term sustainability of the vertical tent poles. They bend very easily. Each time we have set the tent up (when we got it and when we went camping) the poles have bent in different directions.
I also wish there was a window at the bottom of the tent to get a cross breeze. The tent is so well put together that with the entrance flap closed and the windows open there is little airflow on the floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Crazyvet Fantastic quality
Have now used this in a significant rainstorm and it held up well with no leaks. Quality is great, will likely be very durable and I expect it to last for many years. Inside is very comfortable with high ceiling and lots of pockets - can easily fit two cots and lots of gear. Only downside is the setup - I'm 5'4" and can just barely set this up by myself with a bit of frustration factor, but it is possible. Overall extremely happy with this tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Crazyvet Well tested in the rain
First time out had a deluge and kept dry and well-ventilated. Not much wind so can't say how it stands up to that, but in rain it was phenomenal. Not the easiest tent to put up with one person (especially a 5'4" person) but definitely doable and will get easier with practice. Everything seems high quality and well-designed. Very happy with this purchase.

Had a tent get destroyed by microburst of wind the day before my camping trip. Went to local LLBean store and bought LLBean Northwoods 6 person Cabin tent.
- the materials and stitching of the tent walls, screens and all seams is first rate.
- the foot print fit perfectly.
- the tent poles supporting the roof of the tent did not match the image on the instructions, caused set up delay and confusion. Not sure if 1 person can set up this tent in adverse conditions, but eventually got tent set up.
- the back window is directly under the rain fly of tent and will cause water to leak in thru window if left open.
- the rain fly support poles poke thru the gromits on both sides of the tent and I fear that the points on each end will eventually poke a hole thru the rain fly from friction. Need a small pocket for pole tips to slide into to protect rain fly fabric.
- tent is very expensive for size

Took our first trip of the season to Moosehead Lake. We had unseasonably cold weather and high winds with gusts to over 35mph. The tent held its' own and then some. Although I am not a fan of Velcro it does work well to hold the poles in place etc. Well worth the investment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CamoTuto Only one flaw in the design of this tent.
I started to set the tent in in my garage. I had it all up except putting the fly on. I noticed that that tent had a screening and not no see'm mesh. Camping in Northern Maine for spring fishing it is a must to have a comfortable insect free night.
I returned the tent an replaced it with my second choice. Except for the screening I preferred the Northwoods 6 person Cabin Tent. The upright poles were aluminum poles were stout and are a first choice for me. L.L. Bean exchanged the tent for with no problem.
I have never returned any product to L.L. Bean before. The ease of the exchange and the refund of the difference in price made it a pleasure to do business with them. The replacement was at my house in MA the day after it was shipped. Use this tent any where that no see'ms are not a present and this looks like a Five Star Tent.
L.L.Bean will be my go to place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by grancamper roomy, comfortable and easy to use
we traded in a dome tent for this one as we needed more room for cots, the older we get the more comfort we need. it is easy to set up with 2 people. it withstood 2 rainstorms, regular ones, and fit our cots with room to spare. it is heavy to carry, the poles really add to the weight and the screening is regular, but that was not an issue for us. It was warm when closed up in the northern woods, which was good. the side pockets are a bit weird as all pockets start at the bottom so if you use the long one it may be difficult to retrieve things. we liked the built in loop for a lantern at the top. I would wonder if it keeps dry in a severe storm as the fly does not come all the way down as in a dome tent. but we really liked this tent. we got the footprint as well and it worked great. no color coding, but none needed. we set this up in the dark the first time without to much trouble. I would recommend to any family or grand parents for family camping.
