Hiker04843 Holds Up,
My wife and I just took this on a camping/hiking trip to the Badlands and Wind Cave National Parks and it exceeded all expectations. In the Badlands it stood up to the most absurd wind we have ever encountered (we learned the next day there was a tornado warning in the area). We really thought the tent might be ripped apart during the night but no problems. At Wind Cave the tent got repeatedly struck by quarter size hail and no problems. Would recommend this tent for anyone looking for a tent that can stand up to serious punishment.

Beanscust Awesome tent
Good tent all around. Use on overnight hikes mostly and is good size and weight to carry on pack. Started with the 2 person, but exchanged for the 3, the extra room is nice, and is only a pound heavier than the xt2. Usually travel with 1 other person and my dog, and all fit comfortably. Vestibules and double entrance is very convenient. Have used it on 3 trips so far and no complaints yet!

The Mountain Light XT 3-Person Tent performed quite well in a variety of conditions on its one extended outing this summer.
With fly doors pulled back and even with just vestibule doors open, the double door design provided nice ventilation on warmer nights.
When the weather turned cooler, the fully closed tent fly kept the warmth in fairly well, and, moreover, withstood a pummeling downpour without any water entry whatsoever.
The 3-person size was chosen to provide comfortable room for two, and did so just fine. It could fit three, but without much room for gear and spreading out a bit. At 5' 11", I stretched out comfortably in the tent's long dimension, without the walls touching toes or forehead.
Interior pockets and the footprint (footprint sold separately) are features we were quite glad for.
Importantly, the stake loops on the tent are long enough for a no-stake, improvised pitch using sticks and large rocks, when confronted with the impenetrable gravel tent pad of a Park Service campground.
Set-up is easy, and the fabric finish allows for quick drying after a rain.
Finally, while it served well as a "car-camping" tent, it seems as if it would be light enough for a multi-person backpacking trip.
We regard this as an excellent purchase and a good buy!

I purchased this tent because it was so lightweight while also having quite a bit of room for 2 people. It didn't add too much weight for the flight but gave us the option of camping while visiting some national parks. My husband still wants a smaller one for backpacking, but this was perfect for car camping. Quick to set up and break down. Nice loops for holding the door open. I will say that when the sun hit the reflective coating of the rainfly, the inside temperature of the tent seemed to become furnace-like at an astounding rate. But, with the fly off or doors open it ventilates just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ColumbineintheTetons On the road again
I haven't been camping for about 25 years. I am a semi retired female (so young for my age of 63 in a couple of weeks) and was looking for something easy and good, to impress my friends that I could be with them again!! This is a wonderful investment for me to start with. I went outside and set it up by myself in minutes pre road trip. I love the way it feels, light and airy and I love the way it looks both from the inside out and outside. Inside, it is so light due to its color and I can spread my arms to either side and not touch the walls. I'm 5'5" and I bought the 3P tent to have a home away from home in the woods car camping alone. I'm headed to Taos for the real test but pre camp opinion is "I did good, and I'm proud of myself for my research and purchase of this fine tent." I see me loving it! I also see in Backpacker a tent from LLB that was recommended. It is either this one or a micro light or something very close to it. I am happy that my research led me to the same recommendation as the pros. The only thing I wanted that I didn't get was a larger vestibule but 1P in a 3P tent provides the space I need and will probably be more convenient and secure to have everything inside with me. Plenty of room in the vestibule for boots. I guess I would love a full on foyer!! Well anyway, for simplicity and a feel good mood, I highly recommend this tent ......pre actual use.
